im a big ncsoft fan, play guild wars, play aion, and am now gonna try lineage 2.

i played wow since november 2004 and have tried a few games. i enjoy guildwars very casual friendly and i play it for the story and the casual element.

I love korean style mmo's and believe it or not enjoy grinding.

I'd like some tips as to good classes for a beginner player to get familiar with the game. im not concerned with being pro my first few hours or instant gratification but a class/setup that is good to start with.

i've read alot of information about the lack of community starting out and that's what drives players away. any advice on getting involved with people quickly? Alot of people play "MMO's solo" i laugh at those posts. I play for the socializing and relaxation. I like games that i can solo from time to time but are community/guild/clan driven.

i am downloading this via the ncsoft client. is there a faster download? i've been sittin gat 1% for 30minutes.

As for the download - fileplanet.

A good starting class depends on your playstyle. Do you like doing massive damage at once consistantly, but get hit hard yourself? Then a mage would be your fit.

Do you like having the possibility of hitting really hard, but also being moderately armored? Then a dagger and/or archer would be your friend.

Do you like being a tank? Then a tank would be your way to go.

There are also a wide variety of support classes which have uses outside being just buffers. I'd suggest looking into Bladedancers, Sword SIngers, Prophets, Warcryers, Overlords, Shillien Elders, and Elven Elders.

There's also the newer Kamael classes.

I'd suggest looking on the official forums, maybe even making a post there would be helpful.

This advice is based on a few major patches ago, so it may not be strictly accurate.

    1) You will solo the first 20 levels.  Very low new player population combined with multiple starting areas and only a day or so of grinding results in very steep chances you'll find anyone here.  As soon as you finish your first class change, head to Dion.  This place should be full and you'll actually have a chance of finding people here.  Most of the party play here will either be of the form of raidboss hunts or grinding in the catacombs.

    2) Do not pick a support class as your first character (And NEVER play a Prophet).  A lot of people have multiple accounts and just dual box the support classes.  Anything else is OK, just be aware that archers and mages are pretty much always at the top for PvP.  My personal favorite is the summoning classes.  Unfortunately, you have to wait until you're around level 45 to properly judge the play style of the class you chose.

    3) Find guides for the manor system, set a clock exactly to match the server, and offer forth some prayers.  This is your best chance for being able to afford anything in the game.

im looking on the website now, the ncsoft downloader is driving me crazy so looking for faster downloads.

i try not to expect much when playing games, just like going to see a sequel to a movie i expect less than the previous.

thanks for the tip on support classes. I really enjoy pet based classes. I loved playing my hunter in wow and have always enjoy classes that require alot of thinking. Despite what people say, hunter is the nobbiest friendly class in wow send pet, fight but for pvp it can be truly great if you have the right pets etc.

anyways, i quit wow over 3 months ago.  any suggestions on a server, east coast?

Never play a prophet? Are you an idiot?

Prophets are beasts in olympiad pvp, and are beastly soloers (full buffs by yourself 24/7, can use dual swords to melee like a champ, plus heals = no downtime, if you have a way of getting vamp rage, even better)

Support classes in the current chronicle (or throne, whatever) are awesome.

Pet classes are awesome soloer's too. Just about any class can solo. Keeping yourself buffed (with newbie buffs til 62) is always a must (newbie buffs last an hour as well, so don't have to rebuff every 20 minutes unless you want more powerful ones)

Prophets are welcome in just about any exp party, especially a mained one who can root mobs etc. Don't be discouraged by playing a buffer.

P.S. Everything is on top of the pvp game. Archers/daggers/mages/tanks/support classes... all are vital for pvp. Summoners are excellent in olympiad. Hell, even tanks are awesome in pvp now too.
