This won't make the game better or worse than it is, and it will carry on being the number 1 game and the one that every new company tried to reach in terms of profit.

PS: When i say the number 1 i mean in subscriptions and numbers, i certainly dont mean quality even because that is subjective to each players opinion

heh, you have a point. I've seen conversation pop up in a few places about this. I just thought that previous thread had a good sampling of opinions.

Yah, I saw the topic on my server forums, and figured mmorpg would be a good catalyst for interesting discussion... oh well, off to read 6+ pages of opinions before posting my own :D

why do i care if china can or cant play WoW.....why do i even care about how many people play the game...   If there was 8 million players playing Hello Kitty Online ....that doesnt mean i would play it....WoW is not for me....I have played mmo's since 1999.....i like mmo's that have a tough learning curve and huge replay value....i gave WoW a chance all the way to 61....i just didnt like it....all i did was grind for armor...LOTR lost me for same reason....end game all you do is grind for armor sets.   Warhammer did the same ....more friggin armor sets and not enough RvR.

Rarely do i agree with anything the chinese do but shutting down wow was probably a smart decision. It should be some type of cyber crime to charge people 15 bucks a month for the same rehashed boring ass content every month. I'm sure NcSoft will be happy about this.

China payed by hour, not a set amount per month. Just an fyi.

that they did, the equivalent of about 6 cents per hour to play WoW, and most of that went to the Chinese operator...

So the amount of subscribers lost doesn't interest me, the profit lost.. not a big deal.... the main thing i wanna know -

That was last month it all started, why has blizzard kept it all quiet.... they have nothing to be frightened off after all... right.

They rather prefer that everyone think they have 13 million players or something, it is just a marketting thing.

Still, they will earn almost the same amount of cash and I doubt anyone will actually quit because of this, it might possibly hurt the sales to new players maybe....

But they will have a hard time to get those customers back now if China allows it, because one month of kills the addiction and the game is getting rather old. It is very likely that the old customers moved over to Aion or something else by now.

Blizzard are working on a new game and they are good with making games that becomes succeses. They might loose some players to Bioware but most Blizzard fans are faithful so I would keep my Blizzard stocks (Which might be the real reason, something like this can make the stocks fall). Blizzard is one of the most succesful computer game company there is, I think only Maxis make more $$$$.

Pretty much what i was thinking... although i love bioware (i still have baldurs gate), it's that EA thing hanging over their heads... now they've got Mythic and Bioware working together in some areas. They will probably be merged especially if WAR goes down the toilet. It'd be a very EA thing to do....

Of course there's so many MMO's on the horizon who knows whats going to happen, will i end up going back to WoW.... probably at some point. I've had my fill for a while though, i mean when's the last time you saw Ivus or Lokholar. I just can't deal with blizzards Arena themed BGs. You have to now Q for Wintergrasp, and purples/blues are handed out like candy... just feels... wrong. There's a grind but the actual difference in better equipment is becoming minimal... Do you really wanna grind out daily quests for the next month for a new mount? or a squire that acts like a bank but can only be summoned what once every 2 hours or something (dalarn has a portal system, and HS is down to 30 mins.... banks/AHs have never been easier to get too)

Good thing i'm a gamer, there's always something to keep me occupied... curious this new franchise blizzard has up their sleeve, the "next generation" (i hate that phrase) MMORPG...

LOL... Anyone posting something like that would likely be perma banned. The mods have been getting even more trigger happy of late.  Did you notice how fast the posts in general about the authorization servers crashing(again) got nuked last night?  For hours and hours any post on the subject was deleted. I think they finally gave up later on. Check out the one in the tech forum, its 50 plus pages long. I REALLY wish they hadn't split with The9. Since then the WoW servers have had one "issue" after another.

First reason is prolly that they banned Gold selling/farming then selling it. And second thing is prolly most of them are playing Aion atm.
