I quit due to the community feel... sure there were people you knew and wanted to group with, but they were not 'friends' they were 'acquaintances'.

The OP have many points but my reason for not playing is that it isn't really Warhammer.

I love the Warhammer world and have played the RPG for 20 years and this game is nothing like Warhammer. Only Altdorf have some kind of Warhammer feeling in it. All the feeling of horror that is in the RPG is gone. All the strategy of the tabletops is also gone. Some of the humour is there but not enough.

They should have made their own game world instead, they just P*ssed my Warhammer loving friends off. The whole system is so close to Wow while the real Warhemmer have a very different and rather brilliant system that would worked a lot better for PvP.

Warhammer fantasy roleplaying game is famous for it's brilliant scenarios, like "The enemy within" campaign to mention one. Would have made a brilliant game if Bioware made it (for 4-6 players preferably, not as a MMO). The storyline in WAR is paper thin and you don't have to use your brain much.

I can only reccomend you guys to buy a copy of WFRPG and the enemy within campaign, gather a few friends and try it. Mythic shouldn't have tried to make a mix between Wow and DAOC as they did, they should have tried to make Warhammer instead. But I guess none of them ever even played any Warhammer game, or possibly some Bloodbowl.

The game in itself isn't really so bad but they did to my favorite RPG what Lucas and Spielberg did to Indy in the last movie...

It is very strange how much I identify with everyone who has said how much fun T1 is and then the game goes downhill.  There is some hidden truth there that I just can't put my finger on.  Maybe it is the scenarios get overwhelmed with crowd control abilities that change the feel of combat to much, the amount of boring pve quests that are required to level, the lack of interest in orvr or something else.  I don't know what it is, but they could essentially cut T2/T3 out of the game and it would be better imho.

That is the whole problem with WAR and I think why most people quit. Along with the horrendous amount of bugs and ongoing server issues plagueing this game ofcourse. And here in Europe also the horrible feck up by GOA. There is hardly any populated server left lol.

I thought developers today would have learned that players like to be in control of their character and not losing it most of the time! Like is the case in WAR.

For me that was one of the single most reason I just gave up and quit. Having rolled several characters. They all stranded somewhere in Tier3.

The amount of CC in this game is just insane and a joke.

As what kind of idiot dev thinks it's funny for a player to run into a scenario or PVP lake, just to be CC'ed and insta nuked to death. Respawn... CC'ed again, insta nuked to death. Respawn...... rinse and repeat.

As that's pretty much WAR PVP from end Tier2 and upwards.

I think the OP summed up pretty much how most people felt when they hit the cancel button.

This game is so broken and has so many flaws. It will never be fixed and I sadly think it will just end up being closed down. Seeing how rapidly the amount of servers and population itself is diminishing. Especially here in Europe.

Anyone who knows EA, knows they pull the plug in a heartbeat. And I think the boot of Mark Jacobs a short while ago was just the beginning of the process.

    Cheers

The game is lotsa fun if you don't take it too seriously (aka second job), prefer PvP to PvE (casual, mayhem, devil may care group PvP) and enjoy alting. Basically it's an online FPS/MMORPG crossover with persistence and some useless PvE taking way too much space. If mythic had the balls and finally ditched the useless corpse of PvE that's been dragging this game down we'd have a pretty decent product... However the shadow of EQ/WoW is still pretty strong...

The review is ok. However the basic assumption at what the game really is is ifffy. If you look at it as a classic EQ mmo than it lacks a lot. If you look at it as something breaking the EQ mold into a PvP-centered persistent online game  then it has a lot to offer tho not really to perfection. To each his own, and for me it's worth the money for sub - much better than the usual fare of mob grinding and guild raiding I grew sick of. Here when I have only 15 minutes of play time I know I'll have fun for those 15 minutes and I'll get some meaningful reward for it - a quantum leap from "raid or die" abomination that is the sad norm in this genre.

I quit because WAR just felt like a LOT less refined version of WoW....so really, why bother playing.
