Yes it is obviously choreographed, but that doesn't mean stuff similar to that doesn't happen in game. I've read accounts of some people participating in battles with over a hundred people at once.

It reminds me of the best parts of DAoC's castle siege system.

Ugh, those animations make me puke..

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

The video can be seen here as well: www.youtube.com/watch Check the date.

This video was a trailer released when the game was in beta, almost a year ago. I wont even try to decipher it and come up with how much is wrong with it. One thing though; there was no warhulks in at release, yet here they are, in a video from months before the release.

Videos like this caused a lot of hype back then, and is probably part of the reason theres so many "trolls" nowadays: people were disappointed at the "feature complete" game, to say the least...

Why didn't the attackers use the hover ships first, then cavalry and last infantery?

Anyways, it was blood and gore but like all MMOs people didn't seemed to be rewarded for fighting in a real formation. People were just randomly running around and hitting eachother.

A real battle does not look like this at all. So, no. I wasn't impressed. I still wait for a MMO where battles actually feels real and where you have to use real tactics to win, not just random running.

Seen the cavalry charge in Kingdom of heaven? (Lousy movie otherwise, they cut the huge battle and raped history), seen how the roman army walks and fights in Rome or most other movies or series about them? Seen how the use bows and pikes in Braveheart?

I want battles like that, where a good strategy that would actually have worked once in time will win the day. Like in the old "Natural selection" (for the marines mind you) but on a huge scale.

MMOs are still as unrealistic as they ever were.

That is because it requires organisation and training to do a proper battle and unfourtanetely the average MMORPG player these days is a lazy bum that wants everything casual and easy.

Armies never used formations for what is essentially a raiding party of dozens of men. Any formation the players develop should be based off tactical needs, not arbitrary dictation.

And the lack of formations does not denote the lack of tactics or coordination, because if you see anything like that happening then you're already talking about an assload of coordination between the parties involved.

Im usually not one that judges a game on its graphics and animation........But if the animation on the video is still the animation in game now....come on. Were they even trying to compete in the market? Or is string puppet animation the new craze? o.O

    Unimpressed..

It's still pretty rough, BUT, it's getting better.

    See you in the dream..
The Fires from heaven, now as cold as ice. A rapid ascension tolls a heavy price.
