Let me also add an ongoing better gathering and crafting system the one they have will get by for release but it needs work.

Hey, not everybody is so insecure about themselves that they can't stand a foreign art style. What the hell makes you think that people will buy the game knowing that it has this graphical style and then unsub later? Face it: Aion is going to be a success regardless of your petty issues with its origin.

This is, as a western player, very easy for me to explain to you:

    1. many western players do not like manga like characters that seem to come out of a japanese comic book

    2. many western players do not like ridiculous proportions, e.g i do not like swords as big as a house beeing wielded by dwarfs :)

    3. many western players do not like the fetish like armoury of female characters, btw how would you think some warrior does in battle wearing a mini skirt *laughs*

So it has to be taken into consideration that this look and feel is geared towards the asian market with its special asthetic preferences.

Maybe it will at least draw some atention from former lineage2 players, who knows?

I personally do not like this manga like settings and female chars in fetish outfit *smiles* .

    1. This one is iffy. I don't think a lot of westerners really mind the style, as games such as Final Fantasy, Devil May Cry and such all tend to sell very well in the U.S and are well received. Maybe if you're talking about the average joe I could understand, but there are plenty of gamers that enjoy the art style. Anyways even though Aion has some obvious Asian artistic influences I think the game looks more like Guild Wars then anything, and that game was very popular.

    2. Uh, have you paid attention to any American games in the past 8-10 years? Hell, even WoW has big ass swords that you lug around, and armor that is downright impractical. Sure you may not like it but I don't think it's something that is going to turn away a lot of players.

    3. Again, have you seen some of these American games in the past 10 years? Sure, some American games might not go for the skimpy armor (although plenty of them have it) but they certainly go for unrealistic women. And again the largest MMO out there, WoW, has plenty of skimpy armor for the Women.

I think you're listing things that *you* don't like, not things that are actual problems.

Ok lets clearify some things :)

    1. Yes you are certainly right that i am primarily listing things i do not like because these are the ones (most) important for me.

    2. I used the term "many" as i cannot give numbers how many western players might have the same issues with the setting like myself. This depends largely to the people i know most of them do not like asian/manga settings too. Others might like them i did not speak for the whole world.

    3. I tried to give a reasonable answer to the angry and agressively biased post by Tykero to give him some idea what "western players" might find unappealing.

    4. I did not even comment on his statement " Face it: Aion is going to be a success regardless of your petty issues with its origin." and called fanbois-like :)  because people who talk like this  state that they know everything and dont really care about others opin ions bacause they already own the wisdom what ist the best stuff since the invention of sliced bread :)

The third faction in Aion serves a unique purpose in the game, they swap factions. Sometimes they turn on those they work with, sometimes they assist the Asmodians, other times the Elyos.

They really do balance out endgame pvp, in theory, but as I have not played KAion or CAion I cannot say if it works out that way.

Honestly the Balaur does absolutely nothing but exist for AP and mats.  Sometimes the Baluar does take over the forts in the Abyss to even things out, but if a strong legion and one faction decides to dominate the Abyss, you can't prevent that.

The server I used to play in (Kaishinelle) had this legion called Heaven's Army (in korean of course) and I swear to god, every one of the members were loaded were rare world raid boss accessories and gears.  They practically dominated the Abyss for Silver, Gold medal purposes and AP, even dominated all world boss spawns.  At some point it got ridiculous, because the legion took over 98% of the Abyss and the Asmodians had 0% territorial gains.  The asmodians gained a 15 or 20% PC dmg increase buff for couple days, because they decided to leave the Abyss the way it is so they can go on a killing rage through portals and in the Abyss.

That particular Legion was scrutinized so bad, but they still continue to abuse their power, and the Balaur don't do jack about it.  The game definitely has alot of flaws.  For one, monopoly of the Abyss and in-game world bosses are a problem, and probably the reason behind the numerous instances being added since 1.2-1.5.

If you're not in a strong legion by the time you hit max level (50), you can forget about being in the top 10% in terms of gears and prestige.  It's like Lineage 2 all over again in terms of abusive and community ruining guilds and legions being a problem.

At least in L2, they can PK and PvP....against one another.  You can't fight against a rival legion in Aion, which is a big problem and causes certain strong legions to monopolize the servers.

GRIND sucks? You wanna be max level in a month?
