I recently returned to WoW after being away for almost a year ( since just before WotLK came out). There have been many changes, none of them good. WoW is on the start of a downward spiral imo. My opinion is based on my experiences as an old school dyed in the wool Hunter.
1. No more crafted ammo pouches with damage bonuses.
2. No more racial bonuses (i.e. as in axe proficiency for Orcs, etc.) So, no more need to study the various races and choose them according to what you desire in the way of racial bonuses. Dull, dull, dull.
3. No more pets with "special" abilites. For example, Rake used to be arguably the best low level dps pet. I really got excited when I tamed my first Rake. I also got excited when I tamed my first Snaggletooth. I was one of the first to use boars in PvP for their charge ability. Now boars don't get that until level 20, if you train it in their talent tree. My point is that WoW has taken the excitement out of finding and taming special pets. Dull, dull, dull.
4. I looked forward to finding and training the Ghostsaber for it's prowl ability at 19 - 20. Now, why bother, all cats have it. Dull, dull, dull.
5. I looked forward to finding and training a cat with the dash ability. Now it is a pet talent. Dull, dull, dull.
WoW has taken on a simplistic approach which is reminiscent of a first grade reader. See Spot. See Spot run. Run Spot, run. Dull, dull, dull.

An why exactly do you believe people who havent played WoW ever should read this ?
This should really go into the WoW subforum.
I dont think wow is any easier or harder then it used to. but I do think its simpler, more homogeinized then it was. this is one of the reasons I dont like it and dont play it anymore.
If you stand VERY still, and close your eyes, after a minute you can actually FEEL the universe revolving around PvP.
