Im a casual gamer. During the week, Monday - Thursday, I have little or no time to play (1 - 2 hours tops). I want to know if L2 is worth it for me.
I don't mind the grind. Played FF and enjoyed it up until the levels where you are forced to group. I enjoy grouping but need to be able to solo because of my limited time available during the week.

I don't have too much time a day either, and I have been playing since North American Closed Beta. If your going to whine about the lvling then its not for you but since you said you don't care bout the grind then you should give it a try

If you're looking for a game where:
- for a casual players there's only soloing the same monsters hundreds and hundreds of times for the first month
- botters and adena farmers KS your mobs on regular basis and there's nothing the GMs will do about it
- leveling gives you no great benefits or satisfaction
- the ingame inflation is so great that a new player can't afford anything worth his level without buying adena from eBay
- PvP system supports griefers and PKers instead of meaningful PvP
..then Lineage 2 is your game.

L2 is not for the casual player. The level grind is tough and the need to get good equipment is high while it takes countless hours get said equipment. It's a hardcore game - a game of PvP, griefing, scamming, grinding, and clan politics, oh... and more grinding. If you have time to play and join a strong guild, you can be successful in this game.
That said, if you are a casual player and want to play this game, play a soloable class. Start an archer or mage on one of the less populated servers. Read up on the PvP system on the official boards. Save every adena you make and use the fan sites for forming a strategy for your equipment needs. It's a tough and challenging game. You need to realize this to have fun in L2.

If you don't have ALOT of time to play Lineage II, then I don't recommend it.
If you have little patience for game systems that seem unfair at times, then I don't recommend Lineage II.
If you don't like to get PK'd every once in a while, sometimes more often than that, then I don't recommend Lineage II.
If you don't like a HUGE grind, well, you know.
Overall, Lineage II is just a game I won't recommend except for the most hardcore PvP type of player. I gave it a try, twice now. Once after beta for a few months, and then recently I re-activated my account and made it for a bout a month until I could not take it any longer.
Lineage II just wears you down. Don't let the graphics fool you, they will rope you in, but the gameplay is just too repetitive and the rewards are non-existant compared to the punishments you will face.
Stay Away.
I'm pretty much a Casual Player as well...I've played L2 since the last week of Closed Beta and I just turned lvl 27 yesterday lol
I like the grind though (maybe I'm weird) I solo 90% of the time. I'm doing pretty well with money (I detest e-bayer's) I have good equipment for my lvl, though not the best. I finally learned the killing Greens(lower lvl monsters) ='s more money and almost NO down time for me (Elven Knight)
But in ALL honesty...I'd wait and try WoW when it comes out. I played the "Stress Test" and I think you will be much happier with your progress with the amount of time you have. I just played casually for a week and a half and I got to lvl 15 Rogue...and quite enjoyed myself doing it!
Good Luck in your search!

I too am a casual player, I normally stick to either Planetside or EQ, but I did have a morbid curiosity about Lineage II. So, I finally bit the bullet and gave it a shot.
I have to say, yes it is a bit of a grind, and the economy is on the sado-masochisitc side, but I am getting a lot of enjoyment out of it. The game is beautiful hands down, it plays well too. I am not too fond of the point and click movement. but overall, once you can get past the grind, and get some money for decent equipment. The game becomes quite enjoyable. I too only play for a few hrs a night. 2 hrs after work at the most, and mostly on the weekends.
The game is hard, they are kinda forcing you to group in this game so you can make $$$ and good xp. But when playing solo and you do end up advancing and hitting levels it feels like a real accomplishment as opposed to hitting levels in other games I have played.
I feel like I am getting my moneys worth out of this game. First time, in a long time.

while seasonz is saying that one can get to level 20 in 6-9 hours i strongly disagree. you can not get to level 20 in 6-9 hours unless you already know the game inside and out, AND you're an elf, and/or you're twinking.
my suggestion is that you go to the unofficial L2 forums at http://l2orphus.com/forum/index.php and ask them if L2 may be right for you. my guess is they will run/flame you away.
Quite so. 6-9 hours is however enough to get you bored to hell once the boobs stop amazing you.
if you can sit on youre bum for more then 24 hrs at a time ... you just might be a L@ player
if you can ignore hunger and sleep then.... you just might be a L2 player
if youre iq is lower then 2 ........you just might be a L2 player
if you can afford multipule comps and accounts to make it in a game... you just might be a L2 player
if you have no life what so ever... you ARE a L2 player
