what if wow changed to motion control

Imagine if blizzard announed tommorow they were swicthing game to motion control and all movement would be tracked and replicated to avatar on screen. Im choosing wow as most people have played it,  its funny to imagine the different scenarios for the classes and how it would play. with upcoming ps3 motion control and natal its not too hard to imagine something like this in future, only limitations i see are walking and running, would have to be limited within a few feet, anything more would have to press auto run button or something like that. Hit detection would be tricky as obviuosly if theres a sword fight you will be slashing through your opponents sword.

Warrior: neighbours watch out for battle shout as microphone included the louder and deeper the voice the more aggro, in pvp i imagine a braveheart scenario with opposing sides roaoring as  they run towards each other for battle. Keeping aggro would be hard work spinning around  making sure to hit all npc's. Boss fights real tanking would come into play, shield blocking and parrying blows. taunting npcs, the better your mother jokes the more aggro.

Rouges: being stealthed would require crouching and certain posture, sapping you opponent would be a lesson in timing and placing your blow on the right part of person's noggin. Backing stabbing and eviscrerating where you hit your opponent and how you perform your moves, more damage based on performing the proper form. Certain movements would pop you out of stealth so lying in wait for enemy would be alot more exciting.

Caster types mages/priests/locks/i would expect a big drop in people wanting to play these classes, or at least from male population as waving wand and doing magical attacks  can make you look a bit girly. But for the dedicated few who learn the proper form and timing would be refected in how much healing and damage you do.

Druid: bear and cat form instantly come to mind, all inhibitions would have to be thrown out of window as you jump onto to all fours and paw and bite people for your life, aquatic form would also be intresting.

Hunter: this isnt too hard to imagine with a gun addon, also would have to pull out arrows from back aim keep it steady fire. Feign death move would be good fun, how well you can keep still would be key.

Other aspects of game fishing self explanatory, mining would require a bit more work , generally all crafting would have to be learnt and remembered. With motioncapture they could go full hog and replicate your basic propotions on screen as well, would cut down on the dudes pretending to be chick avatars. lfg could take on a whole new life, ie overweight or weak melle players would have a hard time getting into the best top end raids.

well if you could ONLY use motion....

WoW would lose around 60% of there player base, the other 40% would give it a shot, after around a month 36% out of that 40% would drop off, while the last 4% would clame its the best thing ever.

There would probably be ranting on forums for the next 10 years, possibly rioting. And Blizz would have there subs cut down to around 6,000 subs.

After that huge disaster motion control would be out of the picture/set back another 15 years.

11 mill subs every month times 4 years = to many zeros than I can count.

So I think they can give it a shot :)

Now it is 6 millions since China cut  the game off and Aion took over Korea. Of course they still have loads of money.

Still, why not? But any game who isn't built for that kind of control from start will probably not be so fun compared to a game that was.

What if they didn't and they continued making millions?

I don't think its official yet that they actually closed WoW in China, there's going to be an investigation was the last thing that was posted about it I believe.

If i'm wrong, link me please, maybe I didn't follow it as closely as I thought.

    It would still be WoW.

Say hello, To the things you've left behind. They are more a part of your life now that you can't touch them.

I don't find motion control to be all that compelling. Many Wii games are less fun due to the erratic flailing you have to perform to get something to occur onscreen.

Considering the highly repetitive action of any MMOG, the idea of doing that hour after hour is just tedious to the point of the inane.

Yeah I don't think that I would enjoy most games done with motion. but check this

    out

I doubt it would work that well. But if it did I would mess that dude up.
