I don't really understand their decision to hold off on the Free Trial either.
You would think that Aventurine would want to provide an endless supply of PvP fodder for their paying customers.
Sure, the horror of DarkFall in it's current state might scare off the vast majority of those that try the Free Trial... but the upside is that the current subscribers get tons of "sheep" to harvest and the servers could be full almost all hours of the day and night.
They would have to incorporate some sort of mechanic that subscribers wouldn't have to wait in queue if too many Free-loaders were in the game world though.
I can imagine that Forumfall would explode in a Nerd-Rage never seen before if Aventurine offered a Free Trial and it caused the paying customers to have to sit in queue for 3 hours again.
Despite the cons of them offering a Free Trial, I think the pros out-weigh them. I honestly think that the current subscribers would welcome some "fresh meat" that a Free Trial would bring, as well as a mostly full server each night.
It would most likely attract a fair number of paying subscribers as a result as well, since there are bound to be some players that find DarkFall to be a fun game for themselves.
So in the end, it seems like it would be a win-win for Aventurine and DarkFall.
But... (hmm, that should be a BIG But)
BUT... this is Aventurine we are talking about.
They do things a bit bass-ackwards.
They seem to like doing things that attract the least amount of paying customers (like not advertising), and even go so far as chasing customers away by doing things like charging them twice for the same game. So I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

As much as I'd like to see one, I really don't think it will happen.
DF was a monumental undertaking, but I just don't think AV had the resources needed to do this game justice. Don't get me wrong, I play the game and I like it, but it could be SO MUCH BETTER.
