DarkPonyDarkPony Member Posts: 5,566

On youtube there is a channel active with clips and links to fake downloads containing virusses which will steal your account info and maybe more. They back up their scam with posting positive comments and making it look like its an official Star Vault channel.

Do not clickety click their links!

From the official forums:

"Greetings all!

I would like to give you all a small update on the Youtube Link that is being placed out on the forum by users asking if its legit or just screaming fake.

Youtube is at this time being sent a mail asking to remove that Video since it is indeed a fake and breeching the Copyright / Usage of Mortal Online's Logo.

Now for the more important part that involves you the user :

DO >NOT< CLICK THE LINK'S

The video site is fake - FAKE - fake.

The site that you connect to contains a malware through java and the other site will sneak in .exe's to your computer.

People falling for this kind of scam deserves it. Why? Because Of all places you go to, why would you trust something from YOUTUBE to give out Digital Downloads? Everything important should be coming from the official forums itself.

I know there are eager people wanting to play the game, but if it they gave a specific date as to where to Download the game, then jsut be patient and wait at the OFFICIAL site. Not anywhere else, because majority of the time it'll end up as being a scam.

Sure you have to be pretty brick headed to fall for something like this, but that doesn't mean you deserve to get your pc violated.

Some folks are a bit more naive then others and are more likely to fall for stuff like that. It isn't likely there's many of them here, but who knows ...

If people weren't stupid enough to fall on these scams, they wouldn't be wasting time doing them in the first place.

     Sad but true.

If people weren't so physically weak that they couldn't fight of an assaulter then rapists wouldn't waste time trying it in the first place.

Extreme example I know but just want to show that you should never blame the victims over the offender. Last time I checked mere stupidity wasn't a crime.
