From what I am reading there using a system close to FFXI, forced grouping, near impossible soloing, even crafting sounds similar. Most quests in FFXI you had to be high level to solo or had to be in a group I hear its the same. So I was wondering if any beta testers have played both and could give a comparison.

I'm not going to write out a point by point comparison, but yes, FFXI was definitely an influence on some of the ideas in EQ2. But so was DAoC, and SWG, and EQ, etc. They culled alot of good ideas that players have responded well too in other games.
The manner in which they implimented them, however, is another story entirely.
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
From my understanding and from my experience, FFXI was worse then Everquest 1 when it came to forced grouping and making it hard to solo. It was impossible in FFXI but do able in EQ1. Several other things were more flexible in EQ1, a lot more in some ways then FFXI. Everquest 2 is said to be different from Everquest 1 but more casual and solo friendly then EQ1. So a system closer to FFXI seems to be the wrong way of comparing it. Then again almost every MMORPG have systems that are similar. I wouldn't be surprised if EQ2 looked more like a mesh of EQ1, DAoC, and SWG with new ideas, etc then anything close to FFXI.
