Ryzom is really good at "encouraging" group interaction. I've recently gone from the noob island to the mainland, and the game does feel different. Larger, more intimidating, more dangerous. If anything, it's making me want to group up more than doing my usual solo run through a game. I'm also wanting to join a guild quickly, which is contrary to my normal MMO pattern of solo to near cap and then join a guild. I think it's awesome though and wish more MMOs did this.

The whole point of an MMO is to allow people to work together (or against another group). I've become bored with soloing my way through MMOs and only grouping when I really have to. People whine about PUGs all the time. PUGs are more common when the game is so easy it can be soloed the whole way to cap. Even though you're playing the same game as thousands of others, you're not really forming any kind of camaraderie or learning how to function as a group. It's no wonder so many PUGs suck.

With Ryzom, I have a feeling I'll be grouping a whole lot more than any other MMO I've tried.

    Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu
Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN

I'm in the game and totally enjoying it.  Duee constaints I'm still in the noob area, yet still having fun.  I urge anyone else checking out this thread to give the game a try if they haven't already!
