Questions about RoM

GoodAfternoonGoodAfternoon Member UncommonPosts: 252

Hey there, I am a WoW player, but I like some of the features in RoM like dual class and guild housing. I was wondering is there a form of arena or battleground? I read raids but I didn't see any real info on them are they large like 20 mans and how man are there? Also is it hard to get a house? Is it possible to get a house without rmt and how hard is it?

Thanks for the help if anyone does answers these questions.

There are arenas, and I'm not sure about battlegrounds as I really just started playing less than a week ago. Houses are given to every player. It's outfitting it with nice furniture that can be costly. Diamonds can be bought with in game currency so there's really no need to ever purchase them unless you don't have the time to grind out the cash for them (they are really expensive). On raids, I'm not sure how big they get up to...

    I'm enjoying the game a bunch right now. I'm Knight 12/Priest 12.

There are arenas, however they are poorly implemented. Players from level 1-50 all fight together in same arena instance, which is foolish of course.  Ends up with people using them to farm pvp reknown or whatever its called but not much else.

Raids are formed out of as many raid groups as needed (not sure what the limit is) but most raid instances do not require a full complement to defeat the boss, depends more on how well geared your tank/healers are in how many players you need to run them.

Every player gets a house, but if you want furniture, you can get some basic stuff using in game tokens you earn from running daily quests, to get access to full furniture complement you'll be spending cash on diamonds.

People say you don't need to spend money on diamonds.  Don't believe them. (unless of course, you have unbelievable amounts of free time)   One thing you'll want for sure early in the game is a mount, so plan on spending at least 20 bucks right away so you can buy one, will make your gaming experience much, much better.

I have met hardy souls who were level 40 w/o a mount, and while I admire their fortitude, I can only imagine how hateful it is to run everywhere, esp in a game that enjoys making your run everywhere.

Yes, the arean system sucks hard

raids are limited to 36 members, although most i've seen fall wayyyy short

Houses (and your first piece of furniture) are free. anything beyond that requires money, or free time

Diamonds are (pretty much) a nesscesity. for a mount, good late game weapons and armor, and some other things

    the running is a bitch

I can answer the part about the mount because i own one.You really do not need one,i just think there cool so i got one.I have for the most part found myself mounting then 2 secs later i jump off, happens all the time. The reason is because there is stuff to do everywhere, harvesting nodes kills, quests, you really don't need to travel much. Then you have the teleport witch again make for instant travel, mounts really are for show,i have barely needed mine at all.

I agree mounts are not needed. I also bought one but it was during the weekend sale when they had the "special limited mounts". I am a sucker for a good adverstisment :P The only time they come in very handy is when you are PVPing and a 50.50 comes rolling out (quick getaway) but if you are not on a PVP server than no worries.

You can also rent mounts with gold, 20k i think for 2 hours or 3k for 15mins (i think). I normally did the 15min one when I needed to travel to a new zone and open the teleporter.

As for BG's/Arena there is no point until your 50/50 or it gets bracketed. The game heavily focuses on open world PVP and guild wars.

The housing is a great concept but seems a bit expensive to be able to decorate your house. If they had quest rewards for furniture/decorations and/or increased the default space in your house every 10 lvls ending at like 25 slots at 50.50 it would be more resonable. SWG had a nice way of providing epic decorations for your player house (certain mobs you killed, weapons you found, etc).
