Saw this over at eq2-artisans.com. They had it up as a way of showing off the merchant windows.
Seems its how you shop and access your room or the room of others if you have accesss in the inns in the cities.

1) Yes. Then once you enter you can look at what they are selling, etc. Or you could just come over to hang out heh, great for RPing.
