My new i7 pc!

selobthegodselobthegod Member Posts: 155

Hey there every1 I'v almost completed my offer and i just need the confirmation of some more ppl just to be sure that im spending my money on something that's worthy ! So this is my build:

Motherboard:

Asus P6T (1366, DDR3, X58) - 223,16 €

[Ok so i read some articles for the best motherboard for a core i7 proseccor and most of them said this one is the one:P But i also saw some  other articles saying that Asus P6T Deluxe v2 is better , i checked the price and i saw it's +40 euros , is it worth of changing this one with the deluxe v2 ?

CPU:

Intel Core I7-920 (s1366, 2.66 GHz, Cache 8MP, Box) - 251,89 €

CPU cooler:

Scythe Orochi Rev.B Cpu Cooler - 54,89 €

[It's the most expensive i found on the site that was compatible with my case and proseccor i guess , If u think ill have any problems cooling the cpu please tell me , i m not going to overlock it or something at least not now ]

RAM:

Mushkin 6GB DDR3-1600 Ram Kit (3 x 2GB, PC2 12800, 7-8-7-20, 998679) - 80,00 €

[I was going for this one OCZ-Intel i7 6GB DDR3-1600 Ram Kit (PC3-12800, 8-8-8-24, Triple Channel, OCZ3X1600LV6GK) which costs 124 euros but this site had some offers and i saw the mushkin one which originally costed 169 euros and i thought why not checking it out and i searched a bit and found out that the lower the timings are the better the memory is so i chose the mushkin one which also gives me -44 euros , if u think i should get an other one which is about on the same price suggest :P]

DVD-RW:

LG LS GH22LS50 DVDRW + / - (Sata, Bulk) - 23,00 €

Hard disk:

Western Digital 320GB (16 MB Cache, 7200rpm, Sata 2, WD3200AAKS) - 37,48 €

[It's enough for me since i dont need a lot hard space it will be just for gaming surfing the internet etc but if u have a suggestion throw it out:P]

PSU:

Silverstone Element SST-ST75EF PSU 750W - 89,00 €

[750W should be overenough since im not overclocking anything or something but if u think this PSU isn't good enough suggest an other one :P]

Graphics Card:

Palit GTX 295 SVGA (PCI-Express, 1792 MB) - 389,99 €

[I just want the best one out there!]

Case:

Thermaltake M5 VJ2000BWS Case - 55,50 €

[Looks like it has a lot of space and i can also see from the left side what's going on in my pc and it has 3 fans and it looks nice :P i love this one but if u have a suggestion which costs about the same throw it too]

Note: I LIVE IN GREECE:S

This all goes up to like 1205 euros which is 1691 US dollars IF u  guys have any suggestion on changing a lot of things try to not going over this price please:P And if u wanna rly help please try giving me links on sites which ship to greece cause i couldnt find any and it's rly hard finding specific parts here:P

Big thanks to any1 who helps me i'd rly appreciate it ^^

I think Antec makes the best gaming cases in the biz, but thats just an opinion.

Also, if you are only going to run the 1 gpu then you could save a little money and go with a 650w psu.  Nothing wrong with the brand you chose, I like corsair personally but again thats just personal preference.

I'm also a huge fan of G-skill memory, but once again nothing wrong with your choice.

I can't find that case at any shop in greece :S it seems nice and cheap too but I found the G-skill trident memory but the prices here are so f---ed up xd it costs 169 us dollars and here it costs 210 us dollars (149 euros) loled.

About the psu , dont u think i should stay with the 750 so later in ~6 months -1 year i could add something like a graphics card ?

Why buy an expensive dx10 graphic card when the dx11 cards is around the corner? buy a 275 insteed, so you can use it as a phyX card later on :)

And I would change my cpu cooler to an Noctua 1366 cooler. Otherwise its a good setup you have.  I would suggest that you look at a ASUS sound card as well. It will blow your mind if you have speakers with good qualite.

Personally, I would make these changes.

Hard Drive:  I would have to grab a couple 150 WD Velociraptors instead of the single. Or possibly Solid State.

PSU: Something with a few more amps on the 12v rail(s)

    Case: Cooler Master HAF 932

Well, you could back off that video card, ya know

I would still suggest the PSU though. I think the one you listed has 2 12v rails rated at 60amps. The 295 vid card will use about 46-50 of that.

And the Cooler Master HAF 932 is a full size case that has excellent cooling.

OP the best advice i ever got was from a Best Buy tech who told me to get what you want build it yourself its not that hard. Follow 3 simple rules, 1. Buy the biggest Tower you can afford with the most cross flow of air or fan attacthments. 2. Buy name brand power supply more then 450 watts. 3. Cooling is the key to keep your game comp running well.

Thanks m8 , Also do u think i should change the case or it's good enough ? i guess i could go for NZXT Tempest Black Case if it's needed

Well, for a PSU it's actually better to have a single rail instead of multi-rail even though multi-rail sounds better for marketing. The best quality are pretty much Corsair, Seasonic or PC Power & Cooling and these usually have a single 12v 60a rail. The reason the single rail is better is because you can provide as much power to any part as it needs at any time, multi has half its power restricted to another line which probably won't even get used.

If you can get by on your current GPU or an onboard GPU for a couple months you could hold out for the 5870 DX11 gpu's which are suppose to rock (unless you're set on nvidia). You also don't *need* to buy a super heatsink if you aren't gonna overclock it, a middle of the line one works well (stock heatsinks actually do work at stock speeds too).

What site are you pulling parts up off of btw?

  • selobthegodselobthegod Member Posts: 155

Ouh so which one should i get , silverstone or chieftec one? or change for 1x 12v rail 60 amp pc power and cooling one? xD

And also what about the case , should i keep that one or change it with NZXT tempest black one

I dunno who Chieftec is, Silverstones are highly rated though. Here's a list, a bit outdated but gives you a good idea.

Tier 1 Brands - The Most Powerful And Stable Components On The Market
    Enermax Galaxy
    PCP&C TurboCool
    PCP&C Silencer >610
    Zippy/Emacs SSL
    Zippy/Emacs GSM
    Zippy/Emacs PSL
    Silverstone ZF (Etasis 85/75/56)
    Seventeam ST >600 (SSI, V2.91)
    Silverstone OP/DA >700W

Tier 2 Brands - Top Quality components With Top Notch Stability - For Those With Price/Availability Issues With Tier 1
    Antec Neo HE
    Akasa PowerGreen 80+
    CoolMax CTG-750W/850W/1KW
    Cooltek CT
    Corsair HX
    Enermax Liberty
    Enermax Infiniti
    Enhance ENP-GH
    Fortron (FSP) GLN
    Hiper Type-M >650W
    Hiper Type-R >650W
    iStarUSA PD2
    iStarUSA PD3
    OCZ GameXStream
    OCZ EvoStream
    PCP&C Silencer <610
    Seasonic S12
    Seasonic M12
    Seasonic Energy Plus
    SevenTeam ST <600
    Silverstone EF
    Silverstone OP/DA <700W
    Supermicro/AbleCom
    Thermaltake Toughpower >600W
    Xclio GreatPower
    Zalman ZM
    Ultra X3
    Ultra X-Pro

Hiper is a European brand so you might find your best price with them. Tier 1 PSU's are actually overly expensive, I'd go with a Tier 2 model.

  • selobthegodselobthegod Member Posts: 155

Well prices here are rly messed up i mean they just add and cut price whenever they want cause no greek ppl buy anything from an other country or something and they have no competition on prices so they do whatever they want ;P So i found some hiper .. they are overpriced instead of the tier 1 u showed me .. i found some 750 W Pc power & cooling at 109 euros and hipers 680W at 125 euros + so qq :P Ok could u tell me which one u'd choose over these 3 : PC Power & Cooling Silencer Blue PPCS750QBL-EU PSU (750W) , Silverstone Element SST-ST75EF PSU 750W or Chieftec CFT-750-14C 24pin PSU (750W)

The other dude suggested the 3rd one cause it has more Amps on the 12v rails because of my graphics card that gets like 45-50 of that amps and the Pc power & cooling one and the silverstone one have only 60 amps. Which one would u choose if u had this build?

Also do u think i should change the Thermaltake M5 VJ2000BWS Case with NZXT Tempest Black Case (NZXTTEMPEST) ? I mean is it needed for everything to be cool?

I don't have any opinion on cases can't help you with that part :)

The Chieftec doesn't actually have more amps on the 12v rails.. the amps listed totals up to 72 but the max wattage output for the entire set of 12v rails at one time is 720W which = 60 amps at 12 volts. Each rail can do up to 18 amps but NOT at once so it's still limited to 60 amps total PLUS they're split up between 4 rails so the max you'll be able to pull to that graphics card is 36 amps (by hooking 2 power connectors to it).

Probably more info than you wanted.. to sum it up, get the PCP&C PSU if it's a good price :)

It's ok the more i know the better it is :P Thx a lot u seem to know a lot about PSUs . If i can give max 36 amps to the graphics card then will it able to run well? The other dude said that it gets up to 45-50 amps :S

The Chieftec 750w wouldn't be able to power the card sufficiently (it's specced at 46 amps). The Chieftec 850w has 4 rails: 18a, 18a, 30a, 30a - the two 30a rails are specifically for powering video cards (it still only does 62 amps in total even though the individual rails are rated so high). So if you go with Chieftec you have to get the 850W one, or the Silverstone 750w or PC Power & Cooling 750w would both work.

Np as you can see having a ton of rails just complicates things cuz it's still working with a limited max power output regardless of the individual rail specs :) Sorry I dunno about the cases but the NZXT one does look nicer than the Thermaltake one.

Did you have any thought on holding out for the 5870 in October btw or do you want to get the video card in right away?
