So I preordered from bestbuy.com for in-store pickup. The problem is that their site says 9/8/2009!!!!??? Also there is no information on how to get the OB code. Sent a customer service email with no reply. Should I just pop into the store and ask "what gives"? Anyone have experience with online preorders?
Thanks in advance

Just pop in the store and ask for your money back.
I've been playing new mmo's for years, and had seen so many people having problems. I'm not sure if this Champions has an early start, As I just began reading into this one, but still i would never do it.
According to the Cryptic site, Best Buy is slated to offer the "Early Start Program". But, if you go to the Best Buy website or call one of their Service Reps they have no idea what an Early Start Program is. I'm not even going to get into the whole scenario of entrusting Best Buy to send out your Early Start Program/head start weekend keys in a timely manner. Nope, not doing it.
Do as page says and get your money back. Then take that same money to GameStop and pre-order the game with in-store pickup on the 1st of Sept. Out of all the pre-order retailers, GameStop has their shit together the tightest.
In my experience, Bestbuy has about the most uninformed and unknowledgeable floor staff I've ever seen when it comes to anything other than t.v.'s. Most of them would tell you the wrong info on a computer if the info you asked about was on the case in bold 2 inch letters. And never try to ask them about individual computer hardware when building your own, they're clueless as hell.
Same goes for games, especially online games. Not only will they not know anything about pre-orders or special items/editions, but many times they'll tell you they don't carry the item just as you spot it on the shelf directly behind them.
For example, I recently went there to get a replacement keyboard. I was asked by a salesperson if I needed help, and I said I was looking for a computer keyboard, so he kindly walked with me to the aisle and then *sigh* tried to "assist" me in picking one.All the ones he was trying to sell me were usb boards, so I told him I wanted a keyboard with a PS/2 connector instead of the usb. He then proceeded to tell me "Oh, any of these here will work with the Playstation 2. It uses usb."
Pre-ordering from best buy is a mistake. Ive only tried pre-ordering from them once, they didnt put the game on the shelf when it was first released. To top it off, the pre-order only meant that they deducted the cost which was $5 for the pre-order from the box when I picked it up. They didnt hold a copy for me either, it was placed out on the floor like every other box.
what I suggest, is to pre-order games at Gamestop.com. Dont go to their brick and mortar store because you may get screwed out of your pre-order bonus or anything else. Always pre-order online, and have the game sent to your local shop. That way they will email you the codes, you dont have to pay anything until you pick it up which is always on the correct day.

ARE YOU EFFING MENTAL?!?! Gamestop is one of the LEAST game selling companies that have their shit together!!!
The last THREE times I've tried to pre-order with an in-store pickup for PC games, the gamestop i went to EVERY TIME said they'd have it in 3 to 5 days from the day I was told I'd get it. After the third time I promptly told the store assistant manager to F**** off and that i'd never preorder again from gamestop.
Oh, did I forget to mention the in-store local gamestop assistant manager is my sister? Guess not
Never ever ask for an in-store pickup, or EVEr pre-order from BestBuy. These are the time tested rules of an online PC gamer. ALWAYS pre-order for home delivery, and ALWAYS do it from two places: Gamestop (ya i know, but the whole issue around them is their brick and mortar service, it's strickly console gamers essentially) Online store ......Amazon.....or Direct Digital Download purchase from the company itself.

Just wanted to update y'all and say i canceled my order online and popped into a store and bought the preorder box. The code is in the box and everything is copasetic.
That is good to know. Best Buy has the pre-order rewards that I want but the boxes they had in the store did not mention anything about them. I held off on pre-ordering since I was not sure if I would get the pet or not but if the codes are in the box that should unlock them when the game goes live.
