Personally I think that people are just listening to what they want to hear. Anything talked negativley about this game is regarded as a "flame" and set aside as they look for more positive reviews to praise.

Just to clarify, I wasn't being an EQ2 hater, just agreeing that one should back their "facts" up with sources. But on a side note, personally I won't play EQ2, WoW, or any other MMORPG for a long while. I am burnt out on them as a whole. I've gone back to RPGs for a while and even FPS shooters are keeping me more entertained. It's just the same thing over and over.

From what I have seen this game is basically an MMO on training wheels.
This Forum is not for EQ fanatics to have one big circle jerk in. It is to discuss a game and its flaws as well as its successes. If you want to see only praise for a game go to an EQ fansite. These people are merely expressing their concern over known issues in the game that you may deny all you like but that doesnt make them any less true.
If you are giving out information that you portray as factual then you had better damn well have the proof to back up that claim. If not then dont bother posting it. This is reminiscent of political bile where they spit out statistics that have absolutely no factual basis whatsoever.

While I've stated the lag is minimal, both server, and client, I have problems beliveing it when you say there is absolutely no lag. Particularly when there is a stickied thread on the Gameplay section of the beta forums, started by a dev, about the lag. People were still posting to it as of today, so obviously people are still experiencing it, even if it isn't as bad as it was.
If it's easier for you to overexaggerate and label people as a WoW fanboi, an idiot, or whatever. then feel free, it's no skin off my teeth, but doing so does nothing to bolster your arguement. As for broken quests, and missing content, I believe I stated that they were working on that. However, they only have a 2, maybe 3 weeks left, unless they intend to push the release back to mid January.

I don't think we were playing the same game mate. Commonlands and the lands around Qeynos was very laggy. however, the DEVs has patched up a lot of the issues there.

lag. did you leave the newbie islands?. antonica lag was and IS (as of today) running high. peak lag was around 10 minuts to cast a spell, trigger an ability. and no this isnt client lag. its server lag running wild.

game 1 - 10 is a tutorial. game 10 - x is a horrible grind with broken dynamics, and extremly liniar gameplay

Besides, why do people come here, read my review, then bash me for being honest? And yes, I am a WOW fanboi, and yes I think EQ2 deserves alot of credit from my standpoint. Both games are going to be huge, it will just depend on what type of graphics people want more. The EQ2 realistic typish graphics or the N64'ish reallllllllllllllllllllllllll fantasy type WOW'ish graphics. Quite simply thats all it has come down to for me. I will be playing WOW, but EQ2's beta has been awesome for me, so I had to give it the props it deserves. If you guys fail to understand that I am being honest, well then, thats your fault. I don't really care if anyone believes me. But for me with my system specs as listed originally i get no lag, great graphics, great gameplay, at a smooth fps even in cities. I never have to wait for my spells to cast, I have NEVER gotten lag where my spell doesn't cast for 10 minutes, not even 10 seconds, 5 seconds, my spells have all cast the instant I hit the damn button. The only complaint I have had about this game at all is the hair/beards looking like they are glued on the models, the pets running wild while attacking mobs, the lack of diversity among classes, and a few broken quests. HOWEVER, this is beta so I cant complain about missing content - IE quests. If you are having problems with not being able to cast a spell for 10 minutes then unplug your 1200 baud modem, and get a real connection.

Your one of the few reporting no lag. The most positive people say it's been an issue but has been fixed greatly the past week. What level are you? Maybe your not in the area everyone else is reporting the lag? Non peak hours? Newer server? Not to doubt you at all, but you shouldn't doubt others either. Maybe you should be specific about how you get no lag, because others may be interested, instead of saying everyone has crappy connections, when I bet some have better connections then a cable modem (yes they exist, and fairly commonly too).
Oh about WoW being N64 graphics, I lauged pretty hard. I just imagined if WoW really DID have N64 graphics say like zelda or mario. Naa, you know they are way better then that, and if you have played in the past week, they have upped the quality ingame considerable. Especially for Nvidia users (digital vibrance rules). However I bet digitial vibrance rules in EQ 2 also. Or at least I think it would...
In fact I would give both games a 9.0+ on graphics, as they are using very different approaches but same basic technologies. Edge possibly to EQ 2 IF It was consistently playable on a settings equal or better to WoW's, in my opinion. However that remains to be seen.
LOL, the only reason I said N64'ish was because, thats really the only way I can explain WOW's graphics. There REALLY colorful Which is also why I said that it will come down to a decision between the end user and the games, which type of graphics they prefer, a real colorful fantasy setting or a more dark realistic approach. I personally like WOW's better, not because they are better looking than EQ2's but because of the colorful old rpg's I used to play. That and I am a huge blizzard fan.
I really wouldn't know what to say to people about having bad lag, other than I feel sorry for ya, it's not that I don't believe its happening, its just that it hasn't happened to me. I gave my system specs, I did nothing special other than messing around with the performance options inside EQ2 for hours on end. I run on XP and have all the updates for it, along with all new drivers, flashed bios, and anything else that needed to be updated. I don't run any applications in the background either, I also run EQ2 on its own hard drive, I have nothing else on it except EQ2.
I run the game at 1600X1200 at 70hz as well. It looks awesome that way, I also wanted to mention that in the options one of the things I turned down that made a large impact was the Character texture distance, I forgot the name of the option, EQ2 is currently being updated so I can't go in and check what it is, however, I will when it comes back up.

I think you're refering to the LOD draw distance? Might be something else, but I had to crank mine all the way up a few patches back because mobs were popping on top of me, and others as well.
The only thing that I've noticed giving a real performance hit for me was the ground flora. I would normaly add shadows to the listm but I honestly haven't seen any difference in the various levels of shadows, other than on or off. I haven't tested to see what my fps was at minimal settings vs what I have it at now, which is pretty high, and running at 1600 x 1200 as well, which gives me 30 fps, which is plenty adequate for an MMOG.
As for lag, well if you've avoided it, grats. The time or two I've been in a zone were it was happening was horrendous. Like a 1 to 2 minute delay on spells/skills. And it was a server lag issue as the mobs were suffering the same delay. So everything happened like normal, just in slow motion. Ugh. But, thankfully, I've only run into it once on beta 2. Beta 1 was much worse, mostly due to a higher pop at the time.

In fact I would give both games a 9.0+ on graphics, as they are using very different approaches but same basic technologies. Edge possibly to EQ 2 IF It was consistently playable on a settings equal or better to WoW's, in my opinion. However that remains to be seen.

Which is also why I said that it will come down to a decision between the end user and the games, which type of graphics they prefer, a real colorful fantasy setting or a more dark realistic approach. I personally like WOW's better, not because they are better looking than EQ2's but because of the colorful old rpg's I used to play. That and I am a huge blizzard fan.
I really wouldn't know what to say to people about having bad lag, other than I feel sorry for ya, it's not that I don't believe its happening, its just that it hasn't happened to me. I gave my system specs, I did nothing special other than messing around with the performance options inside EQ2 for hours on end. I run on XP and have all the updates for it, along with all new drivers, flashed bios, and anything else that needed to be updated. I don't run any applications in the background either, I also run EQ2 on its own hard drive, I have nothing else on it except EQ2.
I run the game at 1600X1200 at 70hz as well. It looks awesome that way, I also wanted to mention that in the options one of the things I turned down that made a large impact was the Character texture distance, I forgot the name of the option, EQ2 is currently being updated so I can't go in and check what it is, however, I will when it comes back up.

I think you're refering to the LOD draw distance? Might be something else, but I had to crank mine all the way up a few patches back because mobs were popping on top of me, and others as well.
The only thing that I've noticed giving a real performance hit for me was the ground flora. I would normaly add shadows to the listm but I honestly haven't seen any difference in the various levels of shadows, other than on or off. I haven't tested to see what my fps was at minimal settings vs what I have it at now, which is pretty high, and running at 1600 x 1200 as well, which gives me 30 fps, which is plenty adequate for an MMOG.
As for lag, well if you've avoided it, grats. The time or two I've been in a zone were it was happening was horrendous. Like a 1 to 2 minute delay on spells/skills. And it was a server lag issue as the mobs were suffering the same delay. So everything happened like normal, just in slow motion. Ugh. But, thankfully, I've only run into it once on beta 2. Beta 1 was much worse, mostly due to a higher pop at the time.
