Official forums going into meltdown?

Agricola1Agricola1 Member UncommonPosts: 4,977

Now that they have some official confirmation of CME not paying employees, being broke and no one working there and the August 1st deadline. It seems to me this will be a common theme until shutdown click.

I thought I'd sum it up in a pic,

It seems to me that some of the blind faith followers just can't handle truth, with no one to savage anymore they've turned upon one another. This is far more entertaining than SGW would have ever been if it reached launch, don't you agree?

EDIT: Quote of the day from a MOD bctrainers "Funny how the word FanOri came from the naysayers themselves over at the MMORPG forums. It's a good way to troll bait people I will admit."

Am I the only one that sees the irony? He labels us naysayer so we label them FanOri and we're troll baiting ... unlike? As for the label Naysayer, well I guess it turns out that the only Naysayers were the FanOri! Man this will keep me going until Earthrise is released :)

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience"

Let's hope that some of them learn to at least question 'blind faith' in a franchise / business next time.

I do feel a bit sorry for some of them though... hard lesson to learn... particularly if they have invested a lot of time and energy into supporting something that (most likely) will never see the light of day.

They also have a point that it sucks getting info from a third party website... then again it is the Fanbois themselves that often make it impossible to have any kind of proper reasonable / critical discussion on a Dev Forum.

Anyway, I wonder if it will end like the GnH forums?

"Hey, I just logged in and the Sub Forums are not all there?"

    "WTF?  no wai!"

    "OMG I see it too!"

    "there is an Admin on..."

"More forums are disappearing!!... Tech forums just dissappeared... oh no..."

    "Bye everyone..."

    "Nonononono... don't say that."

    "Bye everyo................................................"

(I heard that's what happened anyway)

Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong.

Ok I can see a mistake there bctrainer is not a mod. Also fanori (what do made up extra dimensional beings go to do with being a fan of a game). Also agricola you know you used to fit into that category.

    Do you remember this.

I do and I'm still a Stargate fan, and to tell the truth I'd be defending any legit company making a Stargate MMORPG. However I soon became aware of the situation and was also savaged on those forums myself. I'd like to know what your opinion is of the way I was treated by the SGW community?

I am the biggest FanOri when it comes to SG, that's why I'm fighting against Gary Whiting as he has crapped all over the SG name. In my opinion any real MMORPG gamer and SG fan would have done the same as I did, as for your motivation to support Whiting I can't understand unless you stand to gain financialy.

And at the time I made those threads SGW had no roleplay forums, although they created one after I stopped posting. Again "Too little, too late" the motto of CME.

Can their community be more ignorant of what is happening? I just s-trolled a bit on the sg forums only to find out that their are happy and some are even hko happy just because the forums are still up....... How many times must one be screwed over in order to get back to reality? I mean just go read some of the posts (that for some reason turn from "good thing forums are up" to " i wana see naked girlzzzz".....

Their ultimate meltdown is still forthcoming.

If CME gets their ‘limp me along’ funds and MGM does not pull the license (stars and moon aligning in my opinion) then they will find out that they are not going to get SGW the MMORPG game.  Instead, they are going to get Stargate Battles, the (stand around and shoot each other) mod.

This will allow CME to try and stabilize, and raise even more investor money to get the final long push of SGW done. They say the developers are still around, but I highly doubt that after visiting linked in. A good bit of the talent needed to make an MMORPG needs to be shipped in again, which is expensive.

I am certain Shane is trying to get on the forum’s good side before he springs that upon them.   Seems like they are back to being dishonest with the community again!    Oh well.   They'll learn.

LOL - You made my day as well! I use to be a moderator there but left a while back. We all give labels to groups of any type, it's a given in this world. Why not poke some fun at it? :P

  • Nah, they didn't go into meltdown, because no one is left that really gives a rats ass.  Seriously.  All that posts there anymore are moderators and the handfull of hardcorenevergonnaleaveIdontcarewhatyousay folks that stick their head in the sand.

The funniest part is that Chris Klug (Ledaye) no longer works there and someone from CME was posting on his account.  Also funny to note that the new Ask Ledaye thread only got to 3 pages.

Anyone that cared about the game wrote it off a looong time ago.

    It's quite sad, really.

One thing that continues to puzzle me is the constant requests for a place where the fans can donate money to be set up. Really it makes no sense as if you want to donate that bad to CME why not just address an envelope to Gary Whiting at CME and write a cheque out for him to cash? It really is just that simple isn't it?

Trouble is that the 15 FanOri left probably couldn't raise $8,000,000 in three weeks, maybe buy a pizza for the three people left!

  • At this point, it's throwing good money after bad.

The people familiar with the main systems left along time ago.  And they ain't coming back.  If they hire new people, the new people are going to have to take several months to get up to speed (longer if they didn't keep good documentation).

BTW, I used to post there under the handle 'Snakecharmer' if anyone remembers me :)  I was banned several months ago for helping bring the MMOGULS and whatnot to light.

  • KyriesunsetKyriesunset Member Posts: 162

Thanks for fighting the good fight for us Nuke1115 (aka Snakecharmer) on the MMOGULS war. Any way you slice it, it is still a swindle. Putting up the cheapest flash games does not make the thing legit and everyone knows this.

If you want to do some reading up on various MLM’s scam.com has an entire forum section dedicated to MLMs.

And you're right about Ledaye. He packed his shit and fled town weeks ago, although most likely on LOA.

I made a nice post over there in response to someone blaming us for not taking up Shane's offer to go to the studio and also in reply to those pissed because he came here first: http://forums.stargateworlds.com/showthread.php?p=658130#post658130  My comments in yellow:

Yes, because most normal people obviously sit around with no plans or commitments so that they can be invited last minute to come into a developers studio in a small window of time the next day. How utterly unbelieveable, right?

    Edit:

I'd also like to point out that given the choice, I wouldn't call it a "mistake" for Shane to address the mmorpg.com community first in this issue. For one thing, being that the mmorpg.com SGW forum section is not CME/FIRESKY/whoever controlled and has a much more lenient moderation system, we have a lot more freedom for digging and posting info over there which would likely be quickly removed from this site. If someone were to have damaging or embarrassing info on CME or any other SGW related firm or individual for example, where's it going to be seen by the most people? Here on "official" forums where maybe a handful of fans will see it before it gets quickly removed, or over there where anyone from SGW fans to just a casual passerby can see it and openly discuss it for days/weeks/months?

You want to do "damage control", you start where the damage potential is highest.

The only response I got ( typically ) was trying to discreetly call me a troll and trying to say I was wrong about what I said would happen if what we post here were posted there:

Yet again you come posting anywhere it seems and not stating actual fact.... No moderator here of my knowledge (or CME member for that matter) has removed any thread without it breaking the CoC; if said threads you suggest were removed it is because they did break rules. Not for some ****-eyed reason you may think; not everything is a conspiracy

I do however not begrudge you for opinions and voicing them, just respect that there are rules and many have/and always will, break them"

Apparently, I'm not supposed to post anywhere I haven't been approved of by him. And I'm not allowed to give my opinion, only facts. Heheh, gotta love "people" like him.

I read it and to be honest Kadael is a rabid FanOri, he seems to think because he hasn't witnessed the insane moderation in the past (I have) it doesn't exist and you're a conspiracy theorist. Which made me chuckle considering he was saying the same thing about all those silly untrue rumours like say unpaid wages and pyramid schemes and mass lay offs ect ...

Another blind faith follower attempting to cling on to the past with his last ounce of strength, happy to live in the delusion that CME will eventually release SGW and that Gary Whiting isn't a scam artist. Sad and funny at the same time!

Agreed, out of all the insane meglomaniac bad guys Zod had the sexiest GF and was hilarious and frightening at the same time :)

Yeah, it was a lie. Are you surprised!

I remember hearing about how their internal server cluster was repossessed after the holidays for non-payment of bills. Repo men even showed up in the office and carried it away!   Wish I had a picture of that.

Guess this is why I am left scratching my ass with all those screen shots released the past few months. The shots were just taken with unreal running on a local machine, hardly an MMO environment.

I can't bellieve how long and how far this whole situation has gone on. Hopefully we'll hear soomethign in the next few days or weeks regarding MGMs licensing. This situation is better than most TV. It feels like an episode of Leverage or something. Should we call the CME fiasco Stargate Gate? And shouldn't there be an MMO enforcement agency, something along the lines of the SEC, that monitors crappy game development and keeps tabs on shady companies?

I've always supported the idea of mmos being subjected to their own specific trade regulations and some form of financial oversight laws.

As far as the MGM issue of pulling the license, if true it will be at least a week probably before anything public gets said. Figure the deadline is today, a Saturday. So likely Monday the ball would get rolling, the lawyers will argue, and the details will get hammered out before an official statement from either party.

Well I finally registered over at the official forums after reading that thread of which Zorvan posted in.  I found part of my post listed there, but not referenced, only "from another forum."  Should always give credit or reference (not to the point of citing links for facts and such), sorry a pet-peeve of mine.

Conservatives' pessimism is conducive to their happiness in three ways. First, they are rarely surprised -- they are right more often than not about the course of events. Second, when they are wrong they are happy to be so. Third, because pessimistic conservatives put not their faith in princes -- government -- they accept that happiness is a function of fending for oneself. They believe that happiness is an activity -- it is inseparable from the pursuit of happiness.

Well for some defense, though I have no idea how their system is setup.  But development can be done with just PC's, one can act as a server and another as a client.  Actually it is possible to have one machine to run both server and client locally.  Dedicated servers would only be needed for remote, performance testing and providing a mirrored environment to the live (but only when nearing release).

With today's technology of server virtualization, the requirement for hardware is much less and actually can be hosted at a data center remotely with a low cost to renting the virtual processing power/memory/disk space.  Also virtualization allows for ease of scaling should more power be needed.  Maybe that is another question to ask?

    Is Virtualization being utilized?

Eh, I wasn't fighting a fight for anyone other than to bring the truth out, which I felt everyone was (or should have been) entitled to.  I lost most of my interest in the game sometime around...well, a few months before Khatie left.  Then, as I saw how amateur CME was, I wrote it off as vaporware.  These guys make Adventurine look like Blizzard on a professional level.

And frankly, the people that are going on and on and on about it as if CME violated them personally (it's just a game, guys) are just as bad as the fanboys and the mods over stargateworlds.com forums.

They, honestly, both disgust me about the same.  I'd just say 'Get over it, move on with your life.'

Anyway, I was banned shortly after making my CME / MMOGUL arguements.  The reason as stated on the log in page when I tried to access my account said 'NDA', which I thought was a bit odd since everything I posted was available to anyone that halfway knew how to use google and had nothing to do with anything that I signed an NDA for.  When pressed, the newbie Community Manager (cant remember his name) that came from their IT department (LOL!!!) explained I was banned as a result of my relationships with former CME employees and that I had gotten confidential information from them and posted it on the forums - again, so far from the truth it wasn't even funny.  I made it a point NOT to broach the subject of CME in my random conversations with them since a) it would be unprofessional of them to speak of it and b) it would be unethical of me to ask of it.  Not to mention none of my business on a personal level other than to say 'Dude, that sucks about losing your job/quiting/not being paid.  If there's anything I can do let me know.  BTW, here's a couple names/emails of friends in the industry.  Send over your resume to them'.

In short, there's no shortage of blame as to all this.  Managers.  Presidents.  Vice Presidents of <whatever>.  Coders.  Programmers.  Everyone at CME is culpable.  And honestly, I don't feel a bit sorry for anyone that lasted more than two weeks without getting paid.  They knew/know how far away the game is from being ready to launch.   There's no excuse for them not packing up their shit and doing something else...anything else...at the first sign of trouble - which was missing payroll.   Anyone that stayed after the first round of missed paychecks contributed to it by enabling those in charge to continually walk all over them.
