I guess PC gaming piracy has much to do with that, especially now with broadband connection becoming more and more popular.
Oh yes, that must be it, because everyone I know that has an Xbox has it modded and pirates all their games too.

Wow, a lot of good replies to this. It is nice to know what goes on around the rest of the states and other parts of the world. As for the Neveras in quebec I don't know to feel sorry for you or glad that you atleast got a place to get games.
Obvoiusly from all these posts I see that EB handles things different depending on where their stores are at.
Here in Phoenix, GameStop use to be Babbage's software and not a funcoland or whatever one said. Babbage's use to have mainly a selection of PC and was the only one to have a 10 day return policy until EB Games came to AZ. Even if I opened it and used it the primary policy was if you didn't like it you can either exchange it for a different game or get your money back. As long as you still had the receipt, box and manual and of course the CD's. Now, mainly their price was like a dollar or so above Fry's and Best Buy. But it was worth it when you wanted to check out a game and not worry that you were going to be stuck with it because of all the hype or the screenshots on the box. Especially when there wasn't a demo to test out before it came out. But now since Gamestop bought out babbage's and a lot of other companies that were getting killed by a big corp. comapny like EB Games (aka Electronics Boutique). The Gamestop take over changed the policy and you could only return it if it was defective or if there was a major problem like what happened with POR:RoMD. On top of that you could no longer return your MMORPG games. I use to beable to check out MMO games even when GameStop had them. I had 10 days to check it out and if I didn't like it I could return it. Now, I am stuck with a copy of Horizons, Final Fantasy XI Online & Shadowbane. The only others I have are Asheron's Call, Ultima Online and Dark Age of Camelot which I did turn out liking. However the rest I got to return and get my money back before this change. Alll this before all these MMO's started giving a free trial and free download.
Now, as for the one that doesn't see my point and says that EB is a great place (in the USA that is). I think he/she missed my point about a certain game being only $7.99 and still $29.99 at EB. So, buying from their online won't save me that much if even a few bucks. Which of course is replaced by the shipping fee.
Well, I my final point is that I am trying to say that I think all of us PC gamers shouldn't buy at EB or GS even to get ourselves or our kids console games since they want to over charge us and make it Inconvenient for us to get our PC games at the same location without having to special order them and wait longer and etc...I say if they are trying to make the PC market look not so hot then I say we make them look not so hot.
I know a boycott is a lot of work. But yes it does do something. The point of boycotting is to get the word out to the gaming community that they are taking advantage of us and ripping us off and at the same time making the PC gaming market look bad. If all people knew how they are over charging us on console titles and etc.... I think just telling everyone and streading the word not to even buy your console games from them would impact their sales enough for them to hold a corporate meeting of how they do business.
However, I am not going to be the Evil one to put all this into work. Nor will I go crasy and spread my hate for EB/GS on the net. However, I will do one thing epecially since the majority agrees mainly with this and that is to.... "Get a grip guy, let it go. Just shop Fry's now on." However, I will tell a few friends and they will tell a few friends and so on and so on In the end everyone will look and compare to them with others.... Hmm, $29.99 and a 10 return only IF the product is defective and ONLY return for the SAME TITLE!...Or $7.99 with the same policy....
Thanks for your votes people. I hope I helped you all out in your buying decision and some here have giving me another option to look at when purchasing games for PC and Consoles...The power of the Credit Card!!!!
Thanks to stupid language laws there are normally some games that we can't buy in our province.

My local EB Games has the PC games hidden along the back wall in a dark corner (so it seems) It's quite sad as I feel like a leper or something when I go in to buy a PC game. I really dislike Gamestop as most of the salespersons that work at my local store are pretty rude. I try and stay away from there
EB staff ''in training'' was harshly reprimended after he gave a truthfull advice to a customer rather then saying he didnt know and automatically wasting a sell(doing it in front of me when the customer leave make me feel like furniture althought hehe).
They are politicaly correct, but they will hunt down their nicers sellers, those that make you come back and trust them, and replace them for day-to-day fast talkers sellers...
At least they are doing this in Canada!
I think they dont like me answering to customers althought about games feature when I stroll by! However, since I am also a customer and I advice the truth, they just look at me, never dare say anything openly.
If EB know you will dislike something but can sell to you, *most* of their staff will sell it right away without any advice, they got still some nice sellers, encourage them, only buy when THEY work! When I buy Romance of the 3 Kingdoms IX, the nice seller that get reprimended ask me if I know what I was buying, which is a must and convince me to ALWAYS buy from him, he dont work, I go buy at Future Shop instead, they are to busy to even notice I am or not strolling their alleys!
Ano
PS: I understand why they do that, they are a company, they sell stuff, and short term is prolly a better deal then long term in most cases, I am pretty sure they will understand why a ''dear valued customer'' react like me as well...and customers are always right!
PPS: Test them, take a new game and ask them if it is this or that way but make sure in a previous talk for another game they know where you stand and it is NOT what this game is offering, I doubt they will be honest enought to give you the right info, and dont tell me they dont try or know that game...
PPPS: Nah, complaining or arguing is part of human negociations, if someone want to post about it, sure. It also depend on what competitor offers, the nicers the competitors are, the nicers they are and the more they work on a broader choices. I live in a big city(Canada), and I can tell you they have a pretty broad amount of choices for any type, at least similar to any competitor.

I have noticed this too here in Michigan, Detroit area. Here in our local mall we have both GameStop and EBgames. GameStop has a larger selection than EBgames for PC, but the selection GameStop does have is rather small to say the least. But, I haven't had any problems finding what I wanted there. Usually when I go in there with a game in mind, it is 9 times outta 10 there.
I wouldn't waste any of your hard earned money trying to boycott them. Regardless, the company will choose what profits them best. If they tend to sell more console games, that is what they will make sure to have room and stock for/of. But I do understand where you are coming from. You just have to shop around a bit more if you don't find what you are looking for at the first store.
Now do you men understand why it is so tiring for woman to shop? Sometimes you have to look a little harder is all!
yep EB/GS suck I shop Fry's here in LA. I pay less everytime and I even got Gothic II a month before they even had it in other stores. Don't ask me why but I even proven it to a bud of mine that works in a EB.
The EB here in Yuma AZ. is the same. Almost no PC titles at all. Unfortunately the selection at our best buy isn't much better. I hope we get a frys or some other game store. Most of the stores here have the same selection as Wal-mart or Target.

Stop shopping at the store that doesn't have what you want. Instead, shop at the store that has what you want.
Rocket science!

I noticed the shrinkage of PC games selection in my local EB store too. And this is in Australia. Its a worldwide conspiracy.
Luckily EB isnt the only place to get games, plenty of department stores and the like that stock more then EB.
So they sell more console games than pc?Big deal buy it online.

The EB near me has an entire wall + a small section on another wall devoted to pc games/used pc games. But the Local gamestop has only console games.
