I love to play healing classes, so naturally I plan on rolling a cleric in Aion. However, does anyone have any knowledge on how NCSoft has balanced leveling speed for clerics? I know some games make leveling the healing class hell, so I was hoping NCSoft had made it enjoyable. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Most of the classes are balanced, just know your place in the world and it wil be fine.
Support classes are just that, this isnt WoW, there will be no soloing cleric and chanters, but you guys are duo friendly, find a gladiator ( like myself) or a tank or something and grind it up. I dont know how well they work with like assassins and stuff but just have to play your class right and you wont have any trouble.

So if I could find a friend to play with (as a Gladiator, Templar or something), leveling would be considerably easier?

Yeah it would probably help out a lot.
Also you really want to have at least a friend with you once you go into the Abyss, since it can be pretty ruthless there.
im playing a Cleric in Beta weekend 4, and its a hell to solo. You cant really go trough the game without a leveling buddy.
I just hit 11 on my cleric, one full level outside of the starting area. Here's my take...
I too was nervous about the leveling speed and solo capabilites. This too was reinforced as I made my way to level 9. It was slow, but safe, as the heals allowed for double pulls without any worry. The damage however was pretty bad. I found myself exhausting my MP bar after a few mobs, and ahving to stop and rest adding insult to injury.
Then I ascended to cleric....And it all changed.
I've done about half a dozen quests in the new area, while grinding some mobs in between and have am now about 3/4 through level 11. All I can say is, awesome. I gained a new nuke Thunderbolt, which is a chain ability off of Smite II. Between that and a desperately needed upgrade for my weapon, I can kill nonstop for quite a while. The pace of battle is also much quicker too. NPCs get to me with less than half hp from a quick nuke-chain and another nuke. From there I chain my melee moves and toss another nuke down if necessary.
Bottom line, I enjoyed the cleric (priest) before asscending, and now I love it.
