Threads locked because of fighting?

I really don't understand this... I'm reading along, and staff locks a thread because they are fighting and it's 11 pages long? I've read thread discussions (particularly if they are fighting intelligently) that were 100 pages long...

Here are the exact words:

"Enough fighting. This thread is 11 pages long. It has been talked about long enough.

Locking.

MMORPG.com Staff"

Sorry guys... but this is one of the reasons I don't come to your site as much as I used to. This dictatorial oversight, bordering on censorship, makes your forums worthless imo. Sure there are threads that can drag along too long... but readers are NOT retards... they just click another link and read something else! Maybe I'm wrong in assuming that most people here are adults... but everyone sounds like they are at least in their 20s. Do adults really need staff standing over their shoulders telling them when they have debated something 'long enough' ?

Actually, the staff member goes even further and hints that "IT" has been talked about long enough... I suppose all future threads discussing "IT" will be locked as well? Perhaps you should add a section to your site where users go to see a list of pre-approved topics? Or maybe some general guidelines that give rough estimates of proper discussion lengths, with maybe a thread-length search filter, so posters can jump in and join a discussion before it gets locked?   (lmao)
