LF Game that IS how WoW was

ShorunShorun Member UncommonPosts: 247

Hey folks, I'm looking for a game, that is, how WoW once was. WoW was a rpg, now it's a dumb grinder. However, I mean I want these 40-man raids and classes, that are not all suited to be DDs. WAR comes close, but nobody in there wants to PvE. And EQ2 is too much on crafting for me. Can you tell me a game that is how WoW was (pre WOTLK)?

You sound like this would be impossible. Blizzard already created this game, but they destroyed it for me. I thought there could be a company that clones this and adds some new ideas, it can't be that hard to copy it.

I find your post a little unclear about what you want - mostly you speak in terms of negatives, rather than what you'd like. Tell us what you liked about classic WoW.

Was it the large (40 person) raids?

Did you enjoy the higher difficulty level of some of the instances?

Do you prefer levelling to be harder?

Was it the PvP, with the huge rank grind, and where mages in T3 could one-shot the opposition?

    Or was it something else?

Don't just answer yes/no to the above. Tell us what's most important and least important to you, and why.

Yes. I also like 10 and 25 mans, but in classic WoW there were much more dungeons. And I hate the fact, that you have 10 and 25 man raids, which are exactly the same.

     Yes, for sure.
Do you prefer levelling to be harder?
     That isn't important to me.

I don't care about PvP. Open PvP is funny, but in WoW all PvP was crap.
    Or was it something else?
Balance. Nowadays all classes in WoW are DDs. Priests are healers, Warriors tanks etc., I easily don't want them all to be DDs. For leveling - okay. And then the Raid content. In classic wow there were about 20 raids. Burning Crusade about 10. WOTLK - 5 raids. I loved the raid content and the group play. Nowadays you can get the best armor ingame through daily quests...etc.

I think the only game that is on the horizon that might even come close is FFXIV.

I've been floating around without a real home for awhile..

After hearing about FFXIV I am pretty hyped about it, But I am worried if it turns into anything like last one was ( Insane grind heavy x.x )

I am now heading toward University, and need a game that can be played casually and I am worried FF won't beable to be that way.

Vanilla was horrible, from my class being reduced to a blessing-bot, to bugged raids, bugged abilities, imbalanced specs and most instances were nothing more than tank and spank with the occasional aoe/cleave/tail swipe. The only hard thing in 40man was getting those 40man and explaining them how to not stay in the fire.

vanilla WoW was pretty much just tank and spank fights with the exception of AQ 40. All the classes were bland and to tell you the truth out of the 3 skill trees for every class only one was viable. Now everything is very diverse. The raid encounters are unique and highly scripted. Though I'll level with you I can't stand seeing bad players with good gear but now the gear doesn't outway the players skill at a class. If you suck at dpsing/healing/tanking it doesn't matter how much gear you have your still gonna be bad and others will notice.

Burning Crusade was a great update to the mechanics of WoW, but was presented all wrong.

#1 Issue was PvP System, They ruined it by making it so easy to get gear, were as before you had to earn those ranks.

#2 Arena was poorly implemented and still is, mainly because you can once again easily obtain gear.

The thing I like about Pre-BC or Vanilla is the difficulty to obtain gear.
