What's wrong with this game ?

Just take a look at their portal, all i see is mushy graphics with wild colours. I doubt anyone is going to be willing to pay for this thing.

yep, thats why most games have low player pool and only wow and those kinda games got larger player pools...

I'm sorry but this game looks horrible. Graphics are utterly shameful. I can play Free Realms, for FREE with tens times the quality of graphics this game is touting. Sad.

As Admiral Ackbar said in the movie, Star Wars Episode 6 Return of the Jedi.............Wait for it............Wait for it..........."Its a Trap!". That basically sums up this game.

When we get back from where we are going, we will return to where we were. I know people there!

And you are excactly right:) graphics is just a addon, there is nothing good with graphics if you dont have gameplay... Wurm got poor graphics but is one of the best games out there... Ofcourse there are people who like to try the same gaming experience all the time and only likes graphics thats why some people play crysis it got good grapichs but nothing to keep you playing after you have completed the campaign once. (and its a small campaign)

Graphics are 40%, Gameplay is 50%, and Content is 10%.

For those of you who can't READ numbers:

    Gameplay >= Graphics >> Content >>>> Community.

If a game is fun to play, you're going to want to enjoy looking at it. If you enjoy playing and looking at it, you're gunna want stuff to do.

Very, very few games can pull off the three.

No idea how it plays, but it looks like someone vomited into Realmcrafter and called it a game.

The first thing I thought of when I saw the trailer is "Holy s***, it's N64 all over again". Graphics aren't everything, but judging by the video on their website it's very, very clunky.

Edit: If it was free, I'd try it - it does have that classic game feel to it, and I'm a sucker for nostalgia. I'm not paying $20, let alone the full $40 for a game like that.

    Lead Developer

As far as what looks good or bad to a player is a matter of personal opinion. Many contact us saying that the game looks awesome asking for more personal information or how they can be part of the game. The funny thing is that with a small team such as our company has, most supporters aren’t boastfully vocal especially in these early stages. This unfortunately can gather skeptics, even early on in your beta testing stages. It is though expected.

There are many games from small companies that come out that receive zero attention as far as discussions and comments go. There is obvious interest in this game to draw attention and discussion, regardless of one’s personal motives or opinions. If a game does not interest you, you usually do not discuss it. You just ignore it all together. I’ve seen players come violently against World of Warcraft in an almost personal like hatred for the game and its supporters. Such a passion to voice one’s opinion for a game he/she claims they do not like shows at least an interest in the game, community or attention the game attracts regardless of motives.

Well, as the lead developer of Knights of Dream City, I’m also open to questions and would be more than open to discuss further if you contact us from our website.

A lot of players prefer the personal touch of a growing community such as our own. So far, the response is generally very good.

    1. We have a great game and building a tight nit community structure.

    2. We have a great price that is light on most player’s wallets.

    3. We do not have an item mall, we do not sell resources or gold thus keeping the game fair for everyone who payed to play it.

There are some great people on mmorpg as we have experienced in the past. It is sometimes hard to be positively vocal in an arena or environment shrouded in negativity but for the most part all players and gamers are great people. Even when comments may seem rash, motives may seem obscure, gamers are what make the game, even often times they make the game more than the game itself.

I bid you all well. Take care.

Unfortunetly I have to agree.  A great game has to look good or at least clean.  Sure it's shallow, but it's also the truth.  My wife will NOT play a game if she doesn't like how it works.  And if she's not playing I'm not playing.  It's a simple fact for me.

Now BEFORE I was married I'd give rougher games like this a shot (and I am kinda looking at this one since they have the free key giveaway), though I can only think of one game that looked rough like this that was worth a darn to me. (That would be Shattered Galaxy.  Can you believe it's STILL like 640X480 or 800X600 resolution?!) Pretty graphics aren't everything though, and as others have said before graphics and gameplay together make a game start well.  Contect then keeps it going.

Right now I don't know if Knights has any of those parts.

Current Game: Asssasins Creed 2(PS3, Gamer Tag: Happy_Hubby)
Current MMO: World of Warcraft and World of Tanks
Former Subscribed MMO: Star Trek Online, Aion, WoW, Guild Wars, Eve Online, DAoC, City of Heroes, Shattered Galaxy, 10six.
    Tried: Too many to list

Ive been playing video games since  Combat and Pitfall.  While gameplay is important I also say graphics are just as important.  I will sacrifice some graphics if the game play is made better, but I will not sacrifice gameplay for better graphics. Why can't games just have both? graphics have come a long way, yes it takes more time to make games now but If they can pull them both off Im willing to wait an extra year or 2 for a game.

Yeah I am kinda spoiled and I like eyecandy but who can blame me? Those that can handle games that look like they are from the 90's then good for you, I can barely play Morrowind anymore because it looks so bad to me now when it used to look hella sweet.

I applaud you Yodablaze. We need more independent developers out there like you guys turning your ideas into reality. Honestly I was thinking of trying your game out for myself. Even if you cannot put triple A graphics in your game, just seeing it reach beta I'm sure brings a sense of pride to everyone involved.

And I'm sure you know right where to file the unwarranted negative comments.  Again cheers to you and see you on Sept 7!

well cuki, i would easily sacrefice alot of graphics for gameplay and gameplay graphics and contents are all wanted. There is always the matter of the developers, like how mutch work they are to put into it. So they prefer to get a game out in 1-3 years depending on how good its going to be then to work for like 5 years and get a really good game, i mean the companies cant pay em for making a ridiculously good game because of the time and equipment and some games focuse solely on graphics contents or gameplay for this reason. Instead of having an awsome game crysis made it with graphics. Instead of having graphics wurm got gameplay and contents but the game is extremely hard tough:P so games sacrefice from the different 3 things to make the other(s) better. Thats why some games that really sucks in graphics are alot more entertaining then games that got graphics so it looks attractive in the start.

Simply put Graphics = Attractiveness contents = longlivety gamplay = more that actually tries the games to see if its something for them.

so if anyone think i am wrong tell me:)

Some developers may shy away from interacting directly with players but we are always welcome to it. I enjoy discussion provided it is reasonable and constructive. I appreciate some of the supportive words but we also hold dear to constructive advice and criticism.

Our game is building interest which is good but we have every intent on building a faithful and active community as well. So far the response is pretty good being that there are great games being released in September. Our style of game (Sci-fi), content and price range has proven attractive to many gamers looking for this style of game while also being light on player’s wallets.

Knights of Dream City has an RPG feel to the game so those looking for story driven content and game play, KoDC will be good for you. The game and story builds up as you play but you also enjoy many options of building your character’s stats and/or professions as you progress in the game.

We are a modest team but we have put together a great game with lots of content and re-play value. We are planning lots of updates and features for the future as well.

well personally until i see some more gameplay posts on this game i wont try it tbh im unsure if KODC brings anything new to the table of already swamped F2P MMO's, I hate to say it but you wont get very far with a "tight nit community"(SEE HELLGATE LONDON) if no ones willing to break that barrier of actually paying the price for the game. TBH i think you guys need to rethink your payment structure as im sure a F2P + membership bonus system (similiar to requiem) would work better, or even a lower then AAA sub.

if there is one thing i hate more then p2p (i hate it but if they sell gamecards around then its alright) then its "membership" its just like ingame item malls, ITS TERRIBLE!!! there is one game i survived with membership for a while but now i cant even bring myself to continiue playing a game with membership stuff.

this is just my opinion i but i believe Membership is just to let some players play the game and have fun while many others join the game and see what fun  they have but cant pay, or since its membership then paying over the net is only possibility. even more irritating. p2p is okey if they manage to get the gamecards around thats the ONLY thing wow succeded in. i bet thats the reason so many people played it.

no no no your seeing this from the wrong point of view, stop looking at it from a PLAYERS point of view and look at it in the business sense. I personally think that the payment structure they are useing will lead them to an end (speed will depend on your server and business costs). Like i said there is one thing saying we have XXX but at the end of the day every MMO is there to make the $$$.

Players spend - operation cost = profit/loss (extremely dumbed down) if it ends in a loss this game is heading to the same fate hellgate london ended up at.

Exactly, I tried Fasaria World made with RC and the character models were similar... Not a very good game either.

Actually I went to both this games site and Fasaria and both are New Source Gaming games... Hence the similarities, and hence the accurate Realm Crafter comment by Zorvan.

    1. So far sales are looking pretty good and we expect it to climb over time as expected.

    2. There are lots of gamers that hate or do not care for f2p games and look at item malls as cheat systems that ruin the game. We are not aiming for f2p fans or fanatics. Our community and our game doesn't appeal to that type of gamer. There are also lots of players that like the style of games we make as we have been making games since our first browser based mmo Angels of Fasaria.

    3. Fasaria World did just fine with our payment model and it's working fine for our current game. What has helped us out a lot was previous experience with our browser based games. Players are all different and have different expectations. We've seen many different types of players over the years and we've learned that you can not generalize when it comes to player's expectations. Everyone is different and everyone has a reason why he/she plays or chooses not to play a game. We never attempt to fit in the class of what is expected and we've been doing pretty well thus far.

    4. Years of community experience have taught us that gamers will buy or play what they like regardless what other people say they like or do not like. Where bigger companies panic and make big modifications to try to appease the masses, we take a calm and modest approach. We never attend for our games to be for everyone but for those who do come to appreciate our games, the experience is golden, the appreciation is genuine and the love long lasting.

    5. Knights of Dream City is a game expected to be around for a long time. A lot of people are showing lots of interest in the game and many who played beta enjoyed it a lot. Because our presentation is modest and our features and game style appealing to a lot of players looking for a good sci-fi game with an RPG PVE flare, gamers will always keep us in mind. Our payment model is very nice and it is proving to capture the P2P market very well. We will never be F2P and those looking for a great game for a great price (no items malls, cheats or people selling gold or resources) they will find a home here. When the hype of other games don't live up to the price or expectations, players will remember KoDC, we have no doubt about that. We aren't broke so don't expect a panic move from us.

You need the ability to toggle the sound off on your webpage.  I closed it as soon as I opened it because of that loud, obnoxious, robotic voice.

Yeah, we will be changing that soon.

EDIT: We just modified it. Now you can play the video only if you decide to.
