OK, I put $5 down for Gamestop pre-order and you get into beta 8-17 through 8-27 and then get 3days headstart before 9-1 so basicly you stay in. The bonus is airfoil wings which is ok if you are going to be the wasp.
Now D2D'd pre-order gets u in beta 8/17 -27 but does not mention 3 day head start but you get a cool robotic backpack for gadget and crafting. Now I want that.
The question is, is it worth losing 3 day headstart?

who cares if you get the head start or not. it isnt necessary.
The head start can be very helpful. All depends on how the game is setup. Getting past the starter zone before the game goes live is always a great thing. Less lag and you get out of the gate 1st. So for me the head start is the way to go. Until Aion comes out anyways LOL

IF you're going to dedicate yourself to as much non-stop play as possible, breaking only for sleep, then the 3-day headstart is your thing.
IF you have no plans to change your life around for the first few days (or however long), then the three days isn't that huge.

The Gamestop pre order also nets you 5 Cryptic Dollars for use on the Item mall the costum peices are supposedly around 1 dollar a piece you can just buy the backpack with the 5 bucks then you have both items, the head start, and the open beta key.
Here is what I would do.
First thing to be aware of is that you can apply multiple pre-order keys to the same account. The reason for this is because all items that are part of pre-orders are "exclusive" and won't be offered in the cash shops. There is a Crypic post confirming this on their official boards, you free to look for it in the announcement section if you like.
Direct2Drive's version is non-refundable and bills immediantly. So if you buy that version your stuck with it. The Gamestop is just a pre-order version with will only cost you a $5 restocking fee(if anything) if you cancel 24 hours before ship date. So as long as you cancel by the end of Aug30, you should be safe from being billed.
Now, because Gamestop provides a 3 day headstart, that means you will get your headstart betakey somewhere around the 27th. At that point you have 3 days to cancel your retail order, but you'll still have your "headstart betakey" active. Once retail comes out, just use your D2D retail key which will activate your robotic backpack.
Keep in mind you won't be able to have any of the preorder items attached to the Gamestop pre-order... because those items don't activate until you get the retail key from the Gamestop order.
At least I think that should work, don't come crying to me if it doesn't.

Heh, only a very few things in life are really necessary. But isn't life spiced and driven by all those tiny non-essentials we all love and crave? I am sure you have yours. His is having a head-start.
