I like the idea of changing weapons and changing jobs, you won't have to run anywhere to change your job. But they also said inventory space will be more important. So here comes the speculation part. They said mounts will be different, so maybe your mount will have an inventory as well.
Good speculation. Since one of the chocos in a SS looks as if its carrying bags. It also makes since that you cant be carrying all the equipment for every job on you other wise youd have to much access to all the jobs. Your character probably has very limited storage.

How could WoW's be better? Night looks like day, except a different texture on the sky. Makes "day" and "night" utterly pointless.
I wasn't referring to graphical effects.
A world which has (or aproximates) our own day/night cycle feels a lot more immersive to me. A one-hour day is ridiculous. 12 or 18 hours would be tolerable.
if you want a 24h day, go play Animal Crossing, 1 hour does seem a bit short, maybe like 6 hours in real time = one day, but who cares, give me Beta
Sound like what I feared there making it a solo game killing the grouping. I may not get this game now what the point have anyone be able to solo most the game. I see it now dead chat every only perfering solo not many wanting to group since they can fight and heal with a simple macro setup for switching.
I may have missed something, and this may be a dumb question, but are the new shots at ffxivcore.com actually in game shots or is it just CG? The perspective of the shot with the Magus in it leads me to believe the answer is yes.
I was hoping to play a full support healer or buffer. I know you will be able to say heal, but I prefer the specialization, rather than baing a caster than can throw out a heal or two.
This sounds like it is going to be a lot of fun. I have always been a fan of the FF series and given how successful FF was where they were able to hang on to a stable player base, I am thinking they will make this game that gives those that solo and those that like to group stuff to do and really give players a great game to call home.

I understand the immersion factor, but have you played FFXI? If you look at how that time system, the same as mentioned to be in FFXIV, you would understand the benefit it will have on the crafting, spell, and fishing system among others and that it NEEDS to be short in order to make those systems work. I always found the FFXI extremely immersive compared to games, and it has nothing to do with the night/day cycle.
Not to mention certain monsters only come out at night. So getting that magicked skull would have been a pain in the ass to get if you could mostly play during the daytime part of the cycle.

If you had a 12-hour day, every other session (assuming the same time each session) would be at night.

Yauchy is spot on. If you start playing FFXI today you might see some end game content before FFXIV launches unless you don't have a job, go to school or have a life.
I played FFXI for less than a month and realized just what you are talking about. Square sat down and said, "Ok, we have a great game, how can we increase the time to do every single thing in it?"
Sometimes playing that game was like trying to hold a conversation with a mentally challenged deaf guy. Definitely possible with an outcome sometime next month. Want to loot a corpse that had 4 items on it? Open the corpse. Select an item. Click the take item button. Open the corpse again. Select another item. Take that item. Open the corpse again. Select the next item. Click on the take button. Open the corpse again. Select the last item and click take item a final time. Looting a corpse should never take as long as typing out how to do it but it does. Only be able to craft one day a week in many instances in order to get good results? If you want an mmo that you can jump in and partially complete part 1 of 100 of something simple in the 30 minutes you have available that day play FFXI. I like being able to solo through levels and even with a warrior it became near impossible after a while. Not to mention you basically have to level the same guy up 3 times.
Mad props to Square at figuring out how to strech out a game so that after a month you still are pretty much just starting out in leveling your toon in his final job at level 1 in the same areas you already leveled up through twice before.
lol looting corpses is automaticly done, and every game is not everyones cup of tea. I like the fact you cant get to max lvl in a couple weeks, than your just stuck at end game for said years and alts galore.
It reminds me of two dudes who got Halo 3 at laucnch and beat it in like 4hours for 60 bucks, sure its got multi player, but your pretty much done with the game for the most part. All the Rush Rush must have it now attitude, gratifying but also a little empty as well.

Agreed, I have rushed games in the past and ended up wishing I didn't. With FFXIV I will take my time and relax, won't be making the rush mistake again

Im pretty shure he doesnt mean equipment level, but rather your level with that equipment.
IE: every time you use a sword your sword skill goes up, then when u switch to a staff you have to get that weapon skill higher.
Oh yeah about the job changing on the fly, kinda sounds like FFX-2 with the Dress Sphere system.

Thats fairly similar to ff11 already; increasing your Skill with a weapon to unlock new abilities

I'm still stoked and am definately going to try this but I kind of spell gear grind fest with this.
The part that worries me was:
"The "holy trinity" type of jobs have been avoided, the jobs of FFXIV are more neutral"

Under "Armory system".

I wish there was an announcement on official release date. Game looks sooo good!
Me too! I'm getting more and more stoked about it.

I thought that was another great aspect of FF11
What's wrong with the link?

Just hope they get rid of the frigging numpad controls on pc, total let down when trying out ffxi, and get rid of playonline as well.
There is updated contorls and they already said they weren't using PlayOline anymore.
All you had to do was go change it in the menu...
Well i think i looked but didn't find any way to change it guess i missed it.
But if they got rid of it and playonline it could be good i guess, never really got hooked on FFXI.
