Originally, when I was with my legion, I was going to be a cleric. I consider myself a pretty good healer in other games and thought that I would really be most effective as a healer in Aion.
But then I started playing my rogue and warrior in WoW again, and realized how awesome it is to just completely destroy other players. Not to mention I started tanking in raids and having a blast doing that.
So now, im caught in a bind: I think I would enjoy the assassin for its stealth, quick burst, and high dps. I feel like I would enjoy the templar because of its high survivability and designated main tanking role in pve. I also feel like I would enjoy the cleric for its great healing and survivability.
At first I was leaning heavily towards a Chanter because I love hybrids, but I heard Chanter DPS is no good so now I think I'm going Sorc. If anyone can prove the Chanter is a decent DPS'er, please do, I still want to be one.
I was strong on Gladiator, until the last beta when, to get a char on a less crowded server, I made a female chanter. After seeing her durability, and the fact that she can heal/prot as well as damage-deal, I'm sold on her.
Originally posted by Zandora2018 Am going Chanter. Having fun in CB's and almost unkillable 1 on 1 , am only lvl 26 but lots of duels so far and seem fun.
Just so you (and a lot of people who are basing on wanting to play chanter because of this) heals, and especially chanters, are OP as shit 1-30. 30-44 or so DPS classes really get a lot higher DPS skills and C/C abilities, and it's not until end game when you start to become better again.
Just a friendly heads up is all.
I was going to play chanter but after trying assassin last preview weekend I'm sold. Apparently they aren't all that great 1-30 but I was having a blast.
Also gladiator's are a great class, certainly not underpowered.
A simple question but a real tough answer.. I usually have a clear mind when it comes to classes in MMO, but Aion is really tough on me...
I usually like to heal in every MMO, so the Cleric would be a logical choice... The staff of the chanter looks pretty nice though, always loved staff fighting... And the two handed sword in this game look totally awesome, so the gladiator would be good as well... And so does the shields and armor : Templar....
I guess I'll have to try them all and stick with one.. So I'll probably end up leveling 4-5 toons to level 10 and find out then...
Well I have always wanted to play a Pet Class but end up always in the roll of tank.. Which I have been playing since the early days of EQ1 and in every game since. I keep saying I want to play a pet caster but always end up tanking in the long run.
However in Aion I plan to try the Spirit Master and hope to stick to it. It reminds me alot of Magician from EQ1 a class I always thought was awesome. So I will see how it fairs for me as a main instead of an alt.
This is the hardest question of them all isn't it. I tried out all 4 of the starting classes and from there branced off to Assassin, Templar, Sorcerer & Chanter. TBH I had the most fun with Chanter as I NEVER died. The class is so survivable it's FANTASTIC. Only thing that scares me is I keep hearing stories of Chanters (in the Korean version) getting booted for say a cleric or another DPS class as the buffs aren't THAT beneficial and their heals aren't THAT great. So I'm thinking I will probably roll a Sorcerer and be the glass cannon FTW.
I think Im down to the Ranger or Cleric, with an outside chance Ill roll a Chanter or Assassin (the Scouts and Priests are what interests me the most).
Its definitely a tough choice, all the classes seem pretty balanced (Although its hard to judge at this point) and I think they all play a vital role. Just going to end up being a matter of what play style I prefer.
I am going Cleric on release because I love healing. So in last beta I wanted to try something completely different and made a gladiator...OMG I am having a blast!!!
But honestly all classes seems interesting to me and very well ballanced overall.
What can I say, I'm a melee type of guy. My toons will get owned until I get them in e-peen gear (god willing) but so what, It's more about having fun and not about rolling the OP class of the moment (for me anyway).
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
I usually always start with a warrior in mmo's. ALWAYS. Then make a priest. (Or the class that resembles each)
It's some weird karma thing I have (I think). Dps/tank toon w/ a healing alt toon to balance my responsibilities and gaming experience.
I'll probably do 1-20 with a gladiator, then 1-20 with a templar, check out the differences.
But a Gladiator is by far the most appealing choice for a guy like me. I love to 2Hand spank baddies then throw on a shield and tank some mobs once in a blue moon. From my understanding, while not the best tank, Gladiators can step up when called on. So Gladiator as a main will probably be my choice. Priest (dunno about which subclass - even though chanters seem great) will most likely be my alt...
Do you have the willpower to delete YOUR wow toons? XD
Im.. shocked that Assassins' aren't higher represented...
Also a good thing IMO
Lots of votes for Glads, Clerics, and Sorcerers... I think Sorcerers will be really popular at launch and slowly start fading out a little once people realize that like every mage class, they really shine in the beginning (compared to most classes that shine closer to the end)...
Seems like there will be a nice balance across the classes with this game.
um check the poll they are voted the highest atm i want to play an assassin but not if everyone and their mother is playing one

Ummm.. when I posted that - they were very much under-voted.... somewhere around 6-7%. It actually jumped after I posted that comment
I think I have to roll with a Cleric.... just seems to be calling me out a little. Ill know more next weekend when I give it a try

i think assassins will be popular at start but soon lots will realise its not a godmode character like for instance the rogue in WoW people start to play another class.
The max it can stealth is between 30 and 50 seconds. so it requires more tactical play then alot of rogue type classes in other games. stealth is on quite a long CD too
Comes closest to the assassin in AoC i think and wasnt over populated there as far as i know
but thats just my opinion and thats why i still roll a sin
Really its hard to go wrong with any of them. I think my GF settled on a Ranger... which basically I think leaves me with one of the Priest classes. Just a matter if I roll with a Cleric or a Chanter. I think both are wickedly awesome.

You have just filled me in on this, and it has actually now made me change my mind to not wanting to be a Assassin. Now I will maybe go towards being a Spiritmaster for a more pet/warlock/necromancer aproach. It also doesn't look to be very popular. The reason why I chose Herald on AoC

Chanter Heals+Damage sounds good

I was an Assassin... that was an awesome class
Ranger.
Reasons?
-Stealth .... they also has the ability to see assassin stealth
- Ranged, high burst damage
- Traps, CC
This class is made for ganking ))))

Necromancer. They are awesome!
Well I haven gotten past lvl 7, but Im thinking Chanter, or maybe a Sorcerer, I liked how both mage and priest played though.

Sin-Asmo
chanter-elyos
those are the two classes i will start with
