I've always been interested in Ryzom but just about when I am about to jump in, it seems to go bankrupt. If I recall, the game has gone bankrupt twice and is now owned by a third company? Did players lose everything in those transitions and had to start over from scratch twice? How solvent is this third company? Is it in danger of going under again? Is the server population decent enough to play with?
Sorry for all the questions but I am getting tired of the same old same old, and I'm thinking of starting up in Ryzom.

It's fine right now. We have a steady trickle of new players starting every week (21 day trial ftw).
We have a bunch of extremely helpful players and the dev team has released a few patches improving the game and a new improved player tutorial area (fixed up the missions and gave you missions to run on mainland early on).
Try it out
Imo Ryzom is one of the top MMOs on the market today. It feels like the best kept secret in the genre atm.
Playing: EvE, Ryzom
JGMIII said almost everything, I just want to add that all accounts never lost any character since the beginning.

Very nice game. I played Ryzom back when it was free but didn't like the character models at that time. I think there is a sub now, but I guess that will help add some content in the future.
I started playing it recently and I'm just loving the game and the community.
From all the features and posts ive read about this game it simply amazes me that when people think sandbox they think UO or games with full loot pvp and hardcore games and games like this and EVE are simply never even heard of, people complain about not having enough choices, grinding, quests or being forced to do things yet they easily ignore these games. I've personally always suggested this game to others, and always try to get people to play sandboxes. I think some banners on this website for the game would do wonders and then you can be sure this game is safe.
ahaah, but banners are expensive (especially on here i bet). But i agree Ryzom should get some more advertising done. Perhaps an interview here 'n there (those are usually free, lol)
If everyone did their part and spread the word a bit more on the popular forum sites Ryzom would have more players.
It worked with eve even before CCP put the banners all over the net and it would for Ryzom.
PLaying: EvE, Ryzom
Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum
*sigh* I´m sure at least 90% of the current player base are doing just that Metalhead.
But well, its just not enough.

Do you dare to adapt?
Yeah I tried this game before and I just couldn't get over the graphics. It looked to WoWish for me and that was a big turnoff for me. I really didn't like any of the character models as well. But yesterday I tried it again because im so tired of playing games that have no depth. Let me tell ya that it was a great decision to try this game out again. The graphics don't bother me anymore and I actually kinda like them now but the game play just blows pretty much any other game out of the water. Then there is the Sci-Fi/Fantasy setting which is kick ass, you get the best of both worlds.
So far Im thinking Ryzom has just found themselves a new sub and hopefully I can talk my cousin to play this game instead of SUN. I think he'll like it a lot more.
What are your settings? The default Ryzom settings are pretty low. I bumped everything to max, and now it looks pretty decent for a 5 year old game.
Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu
Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN
You can bump most of the graphics way up... The graphics are what keep me coming back.

Oh I have everything maxed, its just it was cartoonish but now Ive gotten over it so its all good in the hood. But I agree it does have some sweet graphics for a 5 year old game.
I didn't play the game that much - I was interested in the concept and such, but I never got any friends to play with. That's a large part of me playing - being part of a group of people that joke around, have dark senses of humor, and I have a possibility of leadership in the form of being an officer, or whatever. That's why I keep going back to WoW. Its not that I like the game play. I just know alot of people on my server and am an officer in the guild.
Anyway, can you jump yet?
Nope you can't jump unless they add that in the upcoming patch on oct 12.
