"Darkfall has the heart of a lion. It is easy to tell that the game is a labor of love for the developers at Aventurine SA — it absolutely drips with character and personality. The designers have steered Darkfall far, far away from the hackneyed model of the modern MMO and forged their own path with a full loot, open PvP game. They assumed great risk in doing so, and one can do nothing but admire such a brazen move. However, any game is only as strong as its weakest link, and Darkfall is fundamentally flawed in its implementation. You will constantly wonder how such a dichotomy of unparalleled fun, and unparalleled bordedom and frustration can coexist as they do in Darkfall."

doesent matter if 100 of unknown sites ive never ever heard of given it a average or high score i sitll wont play this garbage lol give it up you bots
I wonder how much they were paid to increase their rating 7 points.
That score is too high but the written review is spot on. Macroing destroys the game
As long as I don't agree with the score it's definitely wrong because I say so. I can't respect the opinion of somebody else because I think they are fail and delusional.
That was to the first 2 responses.
Heh... remind anyone of some other threads in this section from someone complaining about some scores that were too low?
The particular score at a given site is only important when judged in relation to the other scores that it gave similar games. Let's take a look a dozen or so other MMO scores that Gamer Syndrome has given and see how DarkFall's score of 7/10 stacks up.
Hmm...
Now normally I don't disparage other sites for their reviews. But when it's just the one single PC game review score... that might be stretching it a bit to expect people to consider it a legitimate site.
Cool site, and good to see there are still gamers out there with taste on games.
"..a superb package. Darkfall has moments of brilliance.."
"These are moments and experiences unrivaled in the MMO landscape; only Darkfall delivers this kind of heart pounding, seat of your pants excitement."

Sorry, but the "Why have McDonald's when you can have steak?" line has already been used for AoC. Failed there, also.

You do realize that this quote is from the same "review", right?
For the review itself, it seems the author couldn't make his/her mind up up whether they loved it or hated it.

Expert gamers......I thought this was a thread about DF, didn't realize we were talking about EVE?
Or maybe you meant expectant mothers who game?
Review can't justify its final score based on the text in the article,
Yet another run of the mill, unprofessional review that fails to correlate its final score with the points raised in the article.

This is straight from the review....
Because I lack the wonderful G-15, I never used a macro to do anything for me. I actually played the game(novel concept, I know). As a result, I was totally and utterly dominated by those who were. “Anyone want to go kill some mobs and get some skills up?” I’d query my guildmates. “What? No. Just go to the bloodwall” they would respond, baffled by my idiocy. This “bloodwall,” of course, is a gentle moniker for the process of leaving your character next to other characters whom are AFK(away from keyboard) and letting people repeatedly hit them over and over to skill up as quickly as possible. People around me were posting skill ranks nearing the 100 limit within the first week of playing — a task for someone like me, not using macros or hitting “bloodwalls,” would take months, if not years to achieve. Accordingly, when I met these fine folk on the battlefield, they would proceed to easily crush me. To further illustrate this macro mentality that pervades and poisons Darkfall, take the response of my guild mates to my announcing that I was going to log off for the night. “Why?” they demanded, surely out of confusion, “At least afk run into a wall or something. Easy way to get that skill up.” And there you have it. Darkfall is a game of skill ups, and macroing is how the playerbase parties.
So DF is a 7/10 but for people (or botters) who leave there chars AFK to hit one another using macro's (cheating in this case) which is "illegal" according to AV. Remember when all the cheating was supposedly stopped when they only had the one EU server (and this review is from the NA server)? LOL big 10-4 on that one AV. So people who play the game as intended are actually punished because they don't hack n slash macro for stat gain. The grind that supposedly doesn't exist in this game infact exists and is in full swing. Atleast someone would have to move to hit level 50 or 60 in another game where as in DF you can sit in one spot for a week and let a macro level you up near the max skill of 100. Lets get real here fanboys, DF has a great concept, yes truly the heart of a lion, but its also terribly flawed like the author above has shown. And when the flaws are in the core of the game in something as important as combat skills in a pvp based game, your in big trouble. Most people don't want to waste their time actually trying to play the game (a funny thought for most DFers I know) while other cheaters are already maxed out and killing them. And by the time the cheating stops your screwed if your a new player because the gap between the people who have cheated up there skills and between the people who have to do it legit (which the author says maxing out a skill could take months to a year) will be so big it will be a waste of time. Sadly DF is destined (and well on its way already) to being another big disapointment for the majority of the MMO community. Sure it will have a niche of players (50k subs, maybe more now from recent NA launch, but the number will surely be lucky to stay around 50k by a year into it), but most will be playing another game that actually has a core that works. Don't beleive me look at WoW, the greatest MMO ever (look at the stats and numbers don't lie, and also- I'm not a WoW fanboy, I played it for a bit, just not for me in the end, but give credit where credit is due), maybe not because it's got the most features here or there or has the best features, but everything it has it does very well. Don't beleive me theres atleast 9 million that would say so and thats not including other people who have tried it or used to play it so the number there could actually easily be doubled. Back to DF though, bottom line here - Hope your reading OP- DF is a mess, its a collection of great and awesome ideas, but the execution of these things just plain suck. And if you consider a 7/10 from some no name site a success, I'd hate to see what your life will look like when all is said and done. Do yourself a favor and start shooting for the moon cause if you make it to the stars kid that ain't so bad. Your game wanted the stars, but instead it took a 6 inch jump into the air and came back down. It's too bad your okay with that.
Another no name site with a DF review...check

Yup, so far we are about par for the course.
Youd make a fantastic politician. Or even Aventurines version of EA comedy PR bullshitter, Paul Barnet.
From gamersyndrome's own description:
"We guarantee that every game we review is played from start to finish, giving you the most comprehensive reviews available.'
Says a lot about their ability to review an MMORPG when they don't even realize that they have no end.
The writing style of the head honcho on the site reeks of High School nerd that wants to look like he is a big thing in the world while he gets the shit kicked out of him at lunch everyday by the more normal people.
Just wonder how little he sold his soul to Tacos for?
Oh, another game review by some dyslexic reviewer located in a mostly unknown source, of which only the mellowest quotes are mentioned.
How debonair. I'm thrilled.
But, hey, a thread like this is a cool 100% chance of Darth posting something, and when it happens, only good things can come from it. I guess I should say thanks.
How can a game that is 'fundamenally flawed' get a 7/10?
Seriously, either these people are amateurs, paid off, or both. Thank the Lord for Darkfall, I haven't had so many belly laughs since this game was first mentioned as in production - in 1879
Ok so i'm sitting here bored out of my mind so i decide to do a Whois on Gamersyndrome and i find out the website was only registered in April of this year.

How can a 4 month old website that has hardly reviewed any games at all be treated as a credible source?.
In my eyes the owner of the site only "reviewed" Darkfall to get hits for his website.
