What is it with all the arses in BGs (and raids for that matter) criticizing players based on gear..or lack of the best gear to be more precise? I've played WOW for 4 years...and never have been called a noob until I started PvP a few months ago. Why?....When I had just PvE..i accepted it...but I have all purples from BGs now and still that is criticized. Of course it's "welfare gear"....although all the hours straight just to get one piece of last seasons, out of fashion arena gear...sure doesn't feel like a free handout to me. I also know it's not the best gear for PvP or Raids...but it's better than greens and blues. I just want to know what the arseholes did when they started out. Did they buy a boxed set of WOW for which I am unaware?..one that starts them at max level with all the best gear?...didn't they start off from the beginning like everyone else?...just curious...because if there is another way...I'll be glad to do it ..just so I don't have to place half the raid/Bg players on ignore....be kind of hard co-ordinating battle plans that way.
Thats because most people that play this game are douche bags
Every game that includes raiding and or hardcore PvP end up just like this, it certainly isn't exclusive to WoW nor did it start with WoW either. EQ was rampant with gear snobs when it came to raiding and eventually even just for grouping for high end content. Same thing with DAoC's RvR content, if you didn't have the best crafted gear or ToA gear and now gem enhanced gear, you were excluded from the team.
What would you expect, raiding and PvP are nothing more than a number cruncher's wet dream.
With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal
...I've posted this in the WOW forum because that is the game I play then most at the moment. I have certainly seen it in other games/MMos as well. So in essence..I guess most people in general are just douchebags..(?)
If you haven't noticed ...that's how RL is like aswell : p
How can you avoid the dickwads when blizzard gives people amunition to play with? The armory is an invasion of privacy!!! Seeing every faction and achievement, the spec and gear. It's a joke any one can troll someone for anything. If you looked at my Warriors Armory you would see the thunderfury achievement I would get harrassed in that game for hours for raiding content people didnt get to experience. The TF and special achievements should be a good thing but asshats use it as ammunition. Checking armory and achievements before inviting players to dungeon runs? bitching out a new pvpers because his gear isnt good yet, its too much man. Blizzard are a bunch of fools for releasing that feature imo you shouldnt even be able to see someones gear. PPL in this game are really terrible. WoW is MMO highschool you don;t give children that kind of power.
The armory has its place and is a great tool if used properly. But as you say, it quite often is not.
Why you would need to armory someone for a heroic is beyond me. The tank should be able to give his/her stats when asked without needing to check armory. But people do it based on misplaced belief.
I can understand people wanting better geared/experienced players for the higher end content. You wouldnt want someone who just hit 80 to be a 25 man ulduar. But heroics were designed for most class roles to be done as soon as you hit 80. Tanks are the exception but warriors/paladins and even death knights can buy lvl 80 BoE epic gear and be ready for heroics. Dont know about druids, suppose thats why you see so few feral tanks these days.
I'll admit that the Armory is a great feature but not with this type of playerbase and totally not in a game that's 100% about loot and what content you've cleared.

You are just doing the mass of the player base a huge disservice based on the actions and attitudes of a few idiots.
It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.
Can i just ask why you are even giving idiots like that even a seconds thought?? Does it matter what anyone else thinks about how you gear yourself out or even if you decided to go into a BG naked as the day you created the character, it is your sub and your choice what you do with your character, anyone elses opinion be damned!! When i do BG's i love how there is always some guy who thinks he is the embodiment of Wellington or Napoleon with their sharp tactical prowess, PMSL!!! I always find the best thing to do is to just take little nips at them as they throw out their orders, it is so funny to see them get more and more wound up. Even better, just act completely thick, ask for directions to each location they give orders for, or ask how you get into a siege vehicle, they will blow their stack, it's hilarious. Basically, if you come across an idiotic gear head, don't even give them a second thought, just thank what ever god you pray to that your life isn't that sad.
I get what you're saying...most times I'm fine..but I'm not impervious to mood swings and occasionally it gets under my skin. Templarga....lol....so true.....they equate themselves to Alexander the great because they are, essentially, fast and accurate typists. It bothers me the most when I try to join raid groups...I have never raided and want to try this content...but because I haven't already finished off all prior raids..and accumulated uber raid gear already...I get jears ,lols and "welfare epics" directed towards me. i'm not asking for heroic runs...i know my gear is not adequate...but ..tho PvP gear ..its better than any blues or greens I picked up outside raids and my hit rating is good enough for starting instances..(rogue is my main..I know,,,that doesnt help) I'd love to take guidance...maybe I'm not the best player around...but I could definitely learn more about playing my class to the utmost if more people were helpful , tolerant and understand that, they too, were once in my shoes....but , as someone stated earlier, it is also just reflective of how many people act in RL as well. Guess I'll stick with battlegrounds and the "ignore" command.
