Out of bordom or perhaps pitty, I will be the kind soul to answer your questions before the flamers rip this poor thread apart :P
1. If you die in pvp you have 30 minutes where you can sit and be rezzed, or you can release and be teleported back to what ever out post you set as your home. There are a lot of out posts but it does cost kinah (money) to bind to different locations. You do not loose xp, how ever when you are rezed you have a sort of rez sickenss that makes you move very slow for ~1 minute, depending on how many times you have been killed before talking to a "soul healer" (touch on them more later)
How ever if you die in PvE then yes you loose xp (you cant lvl down) as well as the slow debuff. You can talk to a soul healer (usually right beside where your "home" is) and for a price he will return the xp, and remove the debuff.
2. This is a pvp game, of course your going to gain something. Everytime you kill an npc or another player in the abyss you gain abyss points. You need these to increase your rank and to purchase abyss gear and items (pots weapons armor you name it) Abyss gear is some of the best gear in the game.
No item loss in PvP, you don't want to keep dying though as Abyss Points are pretty important for PvPers (Abyss gear, skills, and ranking).
It's nowhere close to WoW in the PvP "just an annoyance and a 10 min walk" aspect though, AP is an interesting mechanic, and raiding enemy regions is limited by rifts and the upcoming Slayer system, I recommend doing some research on these.

Agreed, this game isn't full-loot or FFA (2 races in war).
