All the beggining quests were easy and didnt really need a healer until you get to that place with the boss like orc guys which I forgot but it was to the west of the second map maybe for elyos..?
At like lv 15 or so you want to find a full group and just destroy the epic or elite npc's.....
but hey, u go there all happy with u warrior/thief/archer/wizard and u friend bored following u healing u ass.
take classes u two like to play then find a strategy to better suit u play styles =D
now: GW2 (11 80s). Dark Souls 2. future: Mount&Blade 2 BannerLord. "Bro, do your even fractal?" Recommends: Guild Wars 2, Dark Souls, Mount&Blade: Warband, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
best would be templar and a cleric, so once you get the outdoor dungeons you'd only need a couple dps to fill out the group.
but any pair would do honestly for normal questing and what not. so i'd just find wich classes you 2 like best and stick with them.
but to make things go better i would pair up classes that wear different armor types.now not saying i think you'd end up fighting over gear but would be better to wear different gear types to get geared up faster.
Yeah especially with new games where you don't know what all is possible in regards to loot, having 2 classes with obvious gear differences is optimal (but not necessary).

mage and mage ?:D
2 rangers?
Cleric and ranger/mage/spirit master?
Chanter and Templar?
2x assasins?
almost everything works fine:D
DPS and Healer is always a good mix..
Personally, I think you and your friend should focus on finding the class you prefer no matter what is the "best" duo..
Assassin and Templar worked pretty good 1-20.

Chanter and any dps will do exceptionally well, anywhere.
Any 2man matchup will be fine too, to a point.
For Aion I would go as far to say, DPS + Anything is a good two-man.
My only requisite for the group would be at least 1 DPSer and you can make it work.
