Sorry i didn't make that clear, yes you'll need a key to play on the 17th, the keys won't be available to non-paying customers until the 17th.
The only thing $6 gets you it the ability to pre download (but not use until the 17th) the beta client and one of the 50k keys prior to the 17th (which you won't be able to use until the 17th). Basically your paying for a spot at the head of the queue, the question is how long to you think the queue is gonna be?
I would never pay for a month of fileplanet subscribtions for $6 a month. I pay 40 year annual. The benefits to me warrant the cost. I get in tons of betas that are exclusive to subscribers. When I am playing something like, Oblivion for example or reinstall an older game after a format, my download time goes from waiting in a que for a download to getting all 5-6files in a couple of minutes. It all depends on how much you are going to use it.
For 5bucks you can go pre-oder champions at gamestop, get into the beta, see if you like it and if not, get a refund and not purchase it, seems a smarter route to go if its just for champions.

The fileplanet keys don't get you in until the 17th and at that point you may as well preorder and get in on the 17th too.
All the $6 gets you is the ability to dl the software early. For $0 you can still play the beta on the 17th the same as everyone else.
ok so you dont need a beta key to play the game on the 17th? if thats the case cool than
