Speculation of WoW: Cataclysm

I just happened to go to mmo-champion.com and see that they had on overview of what Cataclysm might have in it. All i can say is:

WOW am i glad i quit playing!!!!

Now befor u decide to turn me into a troll or flame me about this: I like WoW but the casual game its turning into is ruining the game and so is the PvP. So yes i quit.

The proposed class and race combinations are ridiculous to suggest a Tauren Paladin, a Dwarf Shaman, and NE Mage. the other class/race combinations aren't that bad though, but i do think having goblin and worgen as playable races is stupid i mean goblins i can see, worgens not so much unless u have a human form for in town and like a 'Attack form' to turn u into a worgen when in combat but i just wanted to see what other thought about the speculation on mmo-champion.

Meh, this changes WoW to something new and I have no idea if i'll like it or not, although it doesn't sound that awesome to be as well. However NE Mage is very possible, keep in mind all night elves were highbourne once, the most powerful mortal casters of arcane. Today's NE chose to not use arcane, but that doesn't mean they can't manipulate it.

Edit: After more reading(and i have a lot of respect for Boubouille) the revamp kinda looks nice. I imagined they'll just use the old textures of Azeroth, but they will drastically change both current Azeroth and the-one-before-Cataclysm.

WoW reboots the endgame with every expansion

This looks very interesting - but it remains to be seen exactly what their vision is for the end-game this time around.  WoTLK was all about accessibility and I don't expect that to go away, but I'd be very surprised if there wasn't a return (or at least emphasis) to vanilla and TBC-style raiding, perhaps as a 'hard mode' endgame path.

New races look interesting.  I don't have any issues with any race being able to roll any class, class restrictions always seemed kind of artificial to me anyway.

By now I'm sure I'm on the 2nd page and this thread will be filled with flames from fanboys and haters and other assorted idiots.  I hate how it's impossible to have an intelligent conversation on this board anymore.

I quit WoW about 6 months ago. Absolutely hated to hear anyone talk about Fail Lich King and it's utterly terrible expansion. WotLK killed my love for WoW after 2 years of playing.

But now, I  am amazed at what I read on mmochampions

This is not just an expansion. It's almost a redesign to the core game itself. I'm very thrilled to hear this news. Even if it is'nt absolutely true, the thought of it gives me hope to actually play this game again. A few of the class/race combos should have been in the orginial game to start with though. Still, I can't wait to make a Worgen character. I don't really care how idiotic the race sounds on the alliance. All you trolls can be gone! It's very interesting to me :D

This is the perfect expansion, fixing and populating the old world. However Sadly I don't think it'll ever happen because revamping the whole old world sounds like a MASSIVE Task just to add flying. Also that would mean every player needs to buy the expansion..... so they'd have to make it free.

I'd prefer this than anything else Blizzard would offer cause it would finally fix the game but it wont happen.

I wouldn't say that - they could just give everyone a massive patch and gate off the completely new areas.  Everyone has to buy the expansion eventually anyway so why not.

We'll have to wait 'till Blizzcon to see if this actually true or not but this strikes me as the real deal.  MMO Champion generally knows what they're talking about, and all signs point to WoW declining this year, quite possibly to pre-WOTLK levels.  I know if I was in charge I would throw everything including the kitchen sink at it to make sure my cash cow was merely stumbling and not getting old and dying on me, at least not 'till the new one is ready.

Blizzard's guys are smart.  They know what they did right, and they know what they did wrong, and they're usually pretty good about keeping the right things right and fixing the wrong things, and they know better than to listen to fanboys and haters.  The overarching theme of the WoTLK complains seems to be that there's no point to being elite, or at least not enough of one.  You never saw this in TBC (back then everyone bitched about Arenas), and in Classic is was actually the other way - if you weren't elite enough to get into an endgame guild you got to run strat, scholo, Dire Maul, and UBRS ad naseum.

But hell, what am I saying - Worgans FTW!  Blizzard, if any of guys are reading this and you make Worgans half as awesome as they sound in that article, and make a healing class of some sort available, I'll resub.  :D

I hope it's true but it sounds too perfect.

I mean I remember before TBC came out people thought the Worgen would be in that but they were wrong. Also what happens to places like BB and Ratchet if the goblins join the Horde? Does that mean the Horde own STV even more now lol.

If you're putting flying into every old zone then that means completly redoing every zone and I just don't think that'll happen cause thats more than an expansions worth of work that would have to go in that.

for the people that are asking what is going to happen with globlin towns like Ratchet and Booty Bay, it appears the Cataclysm event will destroy some coastal areas, pretty much those places will be under water. Of course this is a rumor. It is possible some areas are going to be destroyed and others created. Looking forward to see the real deal, but  if these rumors are true I will jump into the game.

Well if the changes are true the name Cataclysm fits, everything changes, that why races will be able to get new abilities etc etc.  while the current class/race combos fit with the lore to some degree, something catastrophic like this in the lore could make all these new combos possible.

So honestly i can see this all changing lore wise,  i think some get caught up in lore and believe i should never change, while that may be true with some old stories and stuff, blizzard has never stopped adding to Warcraft, so there was always the possibility of things changing.

I never understood why people get so caught up in lore that they never want it to change, if blizzard wanted to stick to the lore that they had, there would have been no point in ever making xpacs for the game.

if it is indeed true, it would give an additional layer of present history to the game, because suddenly you have active players that can go and say "you know ... I remember back in the day when X wasn't underwater ... "
