This game is just so poorly thought out and coded, it's hard to believe that anyone other then a CO fanboi or employee would find ANYTHING good to say about it.
As most of the Beta testers will tell you, this game is a wreck. This post is obviously a viral post from a CO employee.

someone is a sad panda because of patch problems, so they accuse someone who has been a longstanding member of the MMORPG.Com community for ages of being a viral marketer under the employ of CO
thanks that made my morning giggle.
I love that idea how shady little viral marketers are everywhere under every rock waiting to post the most wonderful glorious things about a game, and if that persons opinion differs from another (good or bad) gasp its viral marketing.

Strange, the majority of reports that have come out AFTER the NDA was removed have been very positive.
The major complaints have been about the PvP system, which is limited. The only other bad complaints i've seen were fromthose that broke the NDA, or perhaps weren't in closed BETA but pretended they were.
I barely know what you guys had to deal with when downloading this thing. I just lined up at fileplanet, downloaded the game. I understood how the patch was downloading somewhat. If your downloading the patch, you shouldnt be on youtube or anything that requires internet connection since it seem quite delicate. Yes you had to restart the patch a few times but its not like you had to start from scratch everytime. It kept what was downloaded and continued with whatever remained of the patch.
Is it me or do aliens have a thing for cities full of superheroes? Not very well thought out, you'd think they would have scouted the planet first.
I think my only issue with this game is the transitions when your near a special area like a boss. I like this game though, so far.
No timer on powers. (insert gospel music)
On certain powers you can actually control the amount of power put out on an attack. (awesome)
Can move while attacking.
Blocking is controllable as oppose to slotting for dodge with some predetermined calculation
I actually feel like I can fight and hurt targets and not worry about it taking me 2 bars worth of endurance and health to do it.

I though it was amusing as well. Sol is closing on 3k posts. Quite a shill job by Cryptic!!!! I am glad I am not paranoid like that.
Anyway, I agree that the game is fun and has great feature. It will be a worthy successor to COH. I personally think the art style with the cell shading is cool as well though I understand while some may not like it. The upcoming Boarderlands is doing the same thing (though it is single player and CO-OP and not an MMO).
I've been toggling the cell shading off and on...and I can't decide which I like better. The cell shading is definitely an interesting stylistic choice.
I knew you'd be able to respec skills, but I didn't realize you could respec everything, including your base skills and attributes. I wonder how expensive that gets at higher levels. I'm not sure how much of an alt-heavy game this will be. In a way, that could be a problem. Much of CoH's longevity came from creating a ton of alts.

One advantage of the cell shaded look is the tagetting. When things are cell shaded the outline changes to red instead of having the big ugly brackets that are used when the outlining turned off.
I created some kind of gadgeteer and then fidgetted with hero design (haven't figured out how to apply colors very well yet, the linking and unlinking thing is a little bizzare).
Then I get into the game in the tutorial zone and I have to say I like it (although I hope they will let you skip tutorial when the real game starts, as I can see getting really tired of starting the same way).
I love that you can pick up stuff and throw it. That is nice.
I haven't figured out my stats yet and what all they do and already I am picking "Gear". I am like "City of heroes didn't let me pick gear...how cool is this?" (Which is rhetorical, because that IS cool)
I am not sure if Science Gear should some how stack with other Science Gear or what. My concept was a gadgeteer so I was doing mostly science stuff, but the mystic gear seemed nice too.
Active blocking takes a little getting used too, but thats nice. (I'd like some automatic blocking since I don't have cyborg reflexes in real life).
Haven't figured out the point of the two attacks I start with. It seemed sonic blast was all I needed for everything. The second attack a much shorter shot only seemed to come in handy as a secondary when I get swarmed. Its interesting not to even have a punch or something though.
I am very stoked about this game. It has tons of promise. I am not at all concerned about the lifetime sub. This looks like a good start and they have plenty of room to expand. If at launch it doesn't have all the bells and whistles, it looks like it will in time.
I made a thread about the movement lag, but nobody replied. I was wondering if it was just my comp, or the game. Every time I press a direction (or jump) it takes 1 second to actually perform the action. It might be a minor issue, or not even an issue for some, but it's major for me. I can deal with this if it happens once in a while, but if this is how it is 100% of the time, that's pretty bad.
I just feel that something as basic as movement needs to be really smooth, these days. I'm not trying to bash CO, because I haven't really played it. These delayed actions just really annoy me, and it ruins the whole experience of the game. I usually play for about 10-20 levels to decide whether I like a game, but if the controls suck, I just can't deal.
After yesterday's patcher debacle, I finally got a chance to play the game this morning. WOW.
I am having a blast! Controls are a bit sluggish, but that is my ONLY complaint. I like the graphics, music, sound, combat style. Took me a bit to get used to actually using the autoattack power that builds my power back up to use my heavy hitter, but once I got the feel for it, I started having a blast.
The headache yesterday was worth the enjoyment of today. Any naysayers are either so jaded or just not superhero fans. I am having a ton of fun just looking at other characters people have made. Love it. Although I did turn off the comic book outline and bloom, as I feel those hurt my eyes more than anything else, and the game still looks great to me.

I noticed that. Keeping the cell shading on for targeting is key in my opinion. Another thing is the F key or follow button for melee fighters. With all the knockback and active movement from enemies a melee fighter has to chase down his target. Pressing the F key eliminates that. Posted this on my blog too with some other stuff (Dougmysticeye on Wordpress).

FYI - You can skip the intros speach to any of the sites by hitting the <esc> button. However, at this time I do not think there is an option to totally skip the intro tutorial.
It kinda forces you through the tortage instance ( AoC reference ) every time. Once you complete it you should then get the choice for either the Desert or Canada scenarios. There is nothing like the CoH skip the intro and go straight to the city.

Also, some of the powers have additions or changes you can buy at level that add a 3 second stun or mez or hold that keeps them from running. Not to mention, if it becomes a major problem, you can choose a sticky grenade or something else to keep em closer from another power set.
I think all of the melee classes have some sort of close the gap type of power. I know the Might and Martial Arts have it. Might has a leaping attack that will jump at the target and cause damage, closing the gap. While the Martial Arts has a really kewl flying kick that does the same. If you really want to spice it up, pick up the starter endurance builder for Munitions ( twin gun firing ) and you can enjoy some damage as you run up that builds your endurance as well.

Its the game, not your system and its more like about 1/5 of a second. It was brought up many times throughout beta. I think its really just an animation lag more than anything else. I hope it gets tighter as they get a few patches out, but its not a deal breaker for me. I got used to it pretty quickly in beta and now I don't even notice it.
All I can think is... CoX is better... The only thing CO has going for it, is that they have a decent crafting type system and is a bit more stat focused than CoX.. and people will like that. Plus it has Open Missions like Pubic Quests in Warhammer.. and I personally like that. I'm going to play for the rest of the week but so far I'm not convinced.. though it's still early and I'm very open minded when it comes to games.
I have to agree with Sol, this game is amazing. I always loved Hero games, so after playing CoX for ages, this is a breath of fresh air. The zones are huge, I love the object interactivity, the speed of the combat and above all else the sheer depth I can go into being a hero. Didn't run into any patching problems myself besides the stalls. Really good game so far!
i dont even plan to try the open beta for this anymore. -.-
the download speed from fileplanet is the worst.even though i got open beta key.they dont provide any other link beside file planet for download and file planet only provide for paid subscribers.so open beta testing and review is technically only possible if u get a subscription..if not u will be forever stuck at downloading the client and patching it afterward.
too bad..i was planning to maybe get 6 months or life subscription if the game is fun after i tested it in open beta.now i rather glad i did not.it will soon head for p2p sooner or later with the way cryptic handle customer relation and game

So you don't think anyone will like:
Roles and builds with associated costumes
Nemesis system
Environment interaction
A multitude of travel powers
Powerhouses
I'm just pointing out a few of the nicer features in CO that are not in CoX.

To me CO is a major improvement over COH but that is my opinion. The reasons above are good examples of why. Plus, the itemization and crafting are good too and the story lines are more dynamic. Plus, people can band together in non-instance battles and all get some credit for doing it without even grouping.

Seriously, stop posting. You're spitting nothing but bile and hatred. It's clear you have an agenda yourself.
But for the life of me, I can't understand why you give a fat flying f*ck about other people playing a game you supposedly don't like or care about.
You seem more obsessed than the "viral" posters.
And no, "most" of the beta testers won't tell him the game is a wreck. By spewing that lunacy you only devalidate your position further.
