Just kind of wondering why? Any input on why the end game has yet to be tested for NA/EU?
Keep in mind that people are already playing the end game in other countries. So it exists!
However, i can sort of see them not opening up the very high levle content as it's like giving away the milk for free. And apparently there is some sort of test server so it's possible that people are aleady testing the end game.
It has been said that the feature of using the left mouse button to pan has just been added to the test server.

-There is a god, and he has smiled on me this day. One gripe down.
Any word on if there are any changes to the character combat sounds in 1.5? Or am I going to be stuck with a demonic Bruce Lee?

Its a beta. It is meant to test the game to find bugs, glitches, exploits, etc.
I think u r exactly right tho. They arent testing the end game bc the majority think the end game is going to be much more entertaining than the rest of the game. From a sales perspective that is a good way to raise profits. But shouldnt they test everything before going live?? We arent even testing the 1.5 version. Why on earth would they need a beta for a yr old client? They r releasing with 1.5 so why not test it?
The game is polished enough in 1.0 but the admin on the beta forums didnt even have a good answer for these questions

I don't really believe it's a beta so much as a stress test. Rememeber, they were never going to have a "beta". They always said they were having preview events.
The problem is that if there are issues, as there are bound to be, in a preview event then that looks bad. Suddenly the events were called "beta". Of course, this could also be because players kept calling them betas and finally the marketing dept said "people have it in their minds it's a beta so just call it a beta to avoid confusion".

I would have to say that it's party because they wanted to test the lower level areas to make sure they're correct. I haven't read anything in the Korean patch notes to state that there have been changes to these low level zones, so it wouldn't matter if they did a higher build or not. Besides, if they did a rebuild, it would have been a bigger client to download. And then the people who wanted to test only the first 5-10 levels would have had another excuse to not download it and complain about the size instead.
Meanwhile, it doesn't help that there are level gaps in the lower build. I found myself slightly (keyword for the trolls here: SLIGHTLY) frustrated that I had to grind for maybe 30 mins at the end of level 24. But that was all the grinding I had to do. That to me seems reminiscent of the early days of the WoW release (for those of us who have played since release, not that joined after the Dire Maul patch or expacs).
Because, again, there are already hundreds of thousands of players "testing" the end game. The NA beta is mostly for localization and hardware testing.
If you look at the point that you could not increase above level 30 in China without paying you would understand this was simply a preview event. All they need to fix are localization issues and they are usually so small that if we find bugs 30+ they will be able to fix them within a few days. The fixes are usually very minor.
I fire back this question, why test endgame when the only thing they need to test is translations?

The similiar reason why the first hit is always free? Haha. J
ust to let people try it out. Sure you can disagree with the thought... but at least it is logical.

Because it wasn't really a beta: The software has already been written and is being tested in KOREA with real testers, instead of us stupid Americans. We basically paid to play a gimpier version (well if you could, the last two CB's were unplayable due to a routing issue which they refuse to address for some of us).
It was a pay to preview deal. It's that simple.
This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.
That's my qualm altogether. Calling it a "beta" instead of preview weekends. I dont think they are testing localization at all. That takes a handful of people to do, or can be done inhouse. If they were testing localization, why would they only test it on the first 30 levels? Just doesn't make sense.
I'm not saying the game really needs much beta testing, but when they call it a beta test, on half the game, on an 8 month old client, I can't help myself but to ask questions.

I paid 5 bucks for 15 hrs of fun, I really cant complain about the cost. And this lag issue that I hear about did not affect everyone. I had absolutely no lag and no disconnects all weekend. I heard it was an ISP issue.

Yeah, a lot of us got way more than 15 hours of fun out of our 5 dollars too.
I know of an AT&T issue plaguing many people. all clean here with optonline.

Localization (and its testing) is almost never done in-house, but contracted to a person or company (depending on scope) in the country associated with the language. I have a close friend who contracts out her localization services. Her rate? 22k a month. Yes, you read that right.
I personally have never been in a Beta where you tested end game content......why would you want to anyway? That would ruin the game for me when it came out, knowing what everything is going to be like when I'm max level. Seems like a silly argument to me....

Amen to that. I get the feeling that people have lost the meaning of "beta" to mean "play the game while its free" rather than testing it FOR the final version.
Also, in this case, the beta was primarily for beta purposes and likely to get a feel for what western players may like/dislike about the game that they may consider changing for this side of the world. Also, I am sure that the beta was also used to generate some buzz.

My guess would be that everything they wanted to test was easily tested with just the first 30 levels.
OR
They wanted to keep some things fresh for those who haven't played in the asian version.
Maybe both...
