Crafting on starter island..help

SotoSoto Member UncommonPosts: 177

Hello

My SB is almost level 12 and about to leave the starter island but before that happens I needed a few crafting questions answered.

Tailoring...what purpose does furs/skins have that drop from mobs have? Seems like I can not use them...non salvage.

Alchemy...what drops should I be looking for, so as to salvage, to help with my alchemy training?

thx

the sword of no sword...

Unlike World of Warcrap and other online games of late, DAoC doesn't give very many crafting materials from monsters (and then, not until very high level for Alchemy or Weaponcrafting).  That makes those hides and skins and whatnot you're getting off monsters "junk loot" that serves no purpose other than to be sold to an NPC for some piddly amounts of money.

Head for Jordheim, the capital city of Midgard.  Inside you'll find NPC Merchants that sell all but the ingredients mentioned above.  (Beats the hell out of all these node and creature farming to craft systems, in my opinion.)  As a Legendary Grandmaster in every craft myself, I can tell you it takes 7-10 platinum (that's 7,000 to 10,000 gold) per craft to max out your skill level in it, and if you've got the motivation, it takes only 2 to 3 days to LGM in any craft.  (I recommend Spellcrafting as everyone's first LGM craft.  It has the highest profit margin of all crafts, and will serve well in making you more money to max out more craft skills, or just to have money to spend on your characters.)
