On the other side of things, I was a dissapointed with it overall. It has a comicbook look to it but it doesn't really have a comicbook setting. I was hoping to see more unique villians and a more comicbook type stories. Instead the stories are very cliche for an MMO.. the alien invasion zone, the chemically altered zone, ect ect. It would be much more fun if it had a more focued story.

Even though it runs pretty smoothly it feels clunky overall, with the design and such... though over time they can fix it. The combat and all that is nice I guess but still needs some work.

What it does have going for itself is the crafting system and the fact that you can get these little upgrades ect. It gives it a tad more depth. Plus I think this game will do well between it's cash shop and overall design. With DC Universe coming out though, I have a feeling one of the superhero games will go down and that will probably be CoX (just a guess.)

Oh the other thing I like about the game is the public missions. I hope to see even more MMOs use this. (Right now it's mainly WAR and CO.)

Anyway while it's not what I was hoping for, there is def enough to keep people interested and playing. It is not bad by any means, in fact it's really solid for a game that is just getting ready for launch (minus the patch disaster which seems to be fixed.) I will keep playing because who knows.. it might get better as I progress along.

(That is my honest review of the good/bad...)

I had pre-order to get into the beta.

The game is ok, and I'm keeping the pre-order, just to have something to play until Aion comes out.

I can tell that alot of the design of the game had the XBOX 360 in mind, and that is why it feels the way it does.

The Graphics are ok, but lack something... I'm not sure what.

    Character Creator

There is a wealth of options, it seems limited.

If you could have mixed and matched more stuff it would have been better

Like options under Tights and Skins, aren't under like Jackets

They shouldn't have been seperated, They should have had all the options in one menu not many that don't cross over.

Face customization, is lacking, the most.

Gameplay is good, nothing new, but the active blocking thing is a nice touch.

CO is here. DCU? 6 months, one year?

I will play CO (I already did CB and I am on OB). If DCU turns out to be better I will go play DCU. MMO are not a religion, you dont need to play the same game for years if you dont want to. I just want a fun game, and CO is the fun game for me now.

Pre-ordered and enjoyed closed beta.  I'm avoiding open beta though so I don't get burnt out on the early part of the game.

so far so good...... I preordered

the only think I am concerned about is the zone sizes, it is so different then CoH with it's wide open areas to roam.

There is unlockable costumes  , you do pvp runs to build up your acclaim points, then you can buy new costume peices. I see people with animal faces, robes , trench coats ect,  so you have to unlocks stuff :)

Animal faces, robes, trenchcoats are all available from the start.

I'm in the open beta and am not sold yet.  Is it just one mission zone after another or do you ever end up in the city where you can just hang out and wander around?  Is there any support for that?  Like in CoX there are the nightclubs and in WoW there are taverns and inns and so on.  Does CO end up offering any of that or is it just 100% action?

As soon as you get out of the crisis zone you can go to Millennium City. The helicopter will fly you there as well as allow you transport between the desert area and Canada.

    Yes I will buy it!

I'm glad I waited for the patcher thing to start working, been having so much fun with my friends that it feels like in the good old days. So far I've leveled two guys to around 15ish and been testing lots of weird builds on various characters.

    It's just been damn fun.

    pretty sure i wont..

    Some annyoing stuff :

1st You never have weapons on you.. when you click a button they appear from nowhere.. yikes.. annoying as hell and very unimersive.

2nd No RP stuff.. the emotes etc..

3rd one of the worst item loot system i have ever found in a game.. the item system is so bad a player never feels compelled to hunt items, and thats one of the psychological important motivations to someone playing a game. Plus the items feel useless, bleh

4th Game is too much ' Ninja' friendly for my taste. Peole 'ninja' spawns, even mobs already attacked etc.. and seems who does more damage gets the cake.. very old_schoolish.

    5th What a crappy patcher..

There are more reasons but theese are enough for me to say, thanks nice beta but no buy :)

Aion, AoC, AC, AO, DDO, Eve, Eq2, GW, MW3, L1&2, RF, RIFT, SWG, SWTOR, TR, UO, WOW, WAR

Its an alright game.  I won't be buying it but I can understand why some like it. Way too solo oriented for me.  I do like the nemisis feature, character customization, and different modes of transportation you can acquire.

I was a bit dissappointed to be honest - I couldn't really get into the game.  Bit surprising considering I used to love CoH, but just didn't do much for me.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

Still haven't decided, been through closed beta and now open beta and I've seen all of the content... I just don't know if I can continue to go through the same stuff.

Not to mention I've made so many builds I'm literally running out of builds to make to keep myself interested.   This is totally understandable though,  I may end up buying in a month or two if they add some new content.

I wont be buying. Already started to feel very 'been there done that' just from the beta, so I certainly won't be getting the full game as it's pointless for me to get it just for the first month and not subscribe again. I'll keep my eyes open to see where the game goes in the future but for me personally it falls into the same traps CoH did, of being the kind of game where you sub for a month here and there and play for abit but never play for constant long monthly periods. It also falls into the superhero trap of a lack of character progression. Sure you level up your skills etc but there is a huge chunk of progression in various other RPG's and MMOs which just doesnt exist in Champs.

Definitely will appeal to big Superhero fans I'm sure, and some people will like the more casual style of play. The customisation is most certainly fantastic and really does steal the show for the game. But for me personally I couldn't justify paying monthly for it - the progression, persistance and reward just isn't there. I can see alot of people getting the box and trying the first month then moving onto the next 'big thing' in MMO's.
