Left my favorite mmo for personal irl reasons after 5 years of playing it a while ago , and now that have some free time again,I´m trying to find somethin similar to play , but i just cant find anythin like ffxi.i played a few of mmos so far like WoW, PWI, WAR,LOTRO, RO,SilkRoad, AoC and some others , but ffxi is what always had me hooked in the past.
So now im jumping over around in betas and what not and havent found anythin to satisfy my taste,
Thins i liked about ffxi , and trying to find in other games.
-PvE game, i dont mind PvP but not into it much
-Good comunity, (<3ed everybit of my time on ffxi becouse of its comunity)
-Lots of diferent end game material. Some with 2-3 people , others up to 64, and all quite diferent(not WoW end game , raid raid raid , i really hated it, Nax nax nax ulduar ulduar more ulduar, ek,no offence to wow players, but i need variety)
- Group based game from start to end ,or at least a lot of grouping .
- Hard game, especially end game. Some thins in ffxi take years to get.But it feels damn good when completed.
- the ability to change classes on the same character,Anytime you whanted and to have a sub class.
-Player driven economy.Auction House.
Thins i hated,
- The interface.
- The RANDOMNESS for lot
-The RANDOMNESS on the crafting, crafting system is all based on luck, is terrible.
- the hacks,(mainly on endgame, to claim particular monsters in particular areas,)
-poor guild options, only 2 ranks under lead.
-outdated graphics,
-very weak character customization.
Had my hopes on aion, but is gonna be pvp heavy , and im really not into that.
FFXIV is my other hope, but since they will keep FFXI servers up , and FFXI is a hardcore game, FFXIV will be more casual , so not my thin eighter.(All this IMHO)
Tryed a few fallout mmo, ( fallen earth and 2 other i cant remember the name)some f2p, few betas, but no luck.
If anyone can point me a game or 2 to try it out based on this , i will apreciate it , f2p p2p dont matter. Also please dont say go back to FFXI, couse i already sold my 5 year old char , and i already "finished the game " if that is even posible, i belive i did it.
Also i will be playing with my wyfe most likely, love tank jobs and she loves support classes , ^^, would be nice if game has this roles.
Thanks everyone in advance,
Skieve
PS; please forgive my weak english,im spanish, thank you.

That sounds like a very tall order. For example, very few other games emulate Final Fantasy's job system. Several of the things you are asking for (group play, difficult content, PvE) run counter to modern trends.
Some games come closer than others. For challenging PvE gameplay, with a group focus, your best bets may be either classic Everquest or Vanguard, although both come with strong disadvantages. D&D online may be another possibility.
Or you could just look for filler games to keep you going until FF XIV is released.

First of all , thank you for your reply, i really apreciate it.
I will give a try to those 2 games, thanks for pointing them out.I think i played a long time ago the original everquest , never tried vanguard tought.
I listed the pros and cons in ffxi witch was my main MMO to give more or less of an idea of what i am looking for , but it does not have to be perfect, as long as it has some of the features ill give it a go .Mostly PVE and group orientated game, with a high degree of dificulty if posible .
Like you said sadly the new mmos is going further away from my tastes and more into the casual solo or for PvP players , wich makes me kinda sad, since is what i belive FFXIV will lean to.Hopefully im not the only one who thinks this way , but in someway i am starting to belive i belong to a diying breed of MMO players ;;.
Ill keep looking and ill let you know,
Thanks again ,
Skieve.
Well - pro's and cons of vanguard, as I see them:
Pros:
Excellent graphics
Challenging gameplay at all levels
Decent crafting
Good community
Designed to be grouped based
A huge world with plenty to explore
Cons:
Low population, forcing many people to solo at lower levels
Bugs - many of the worst bugs that gave it a poor rep at launch have been fixed, but there are still some annoyances
Lack of class balance
Requires a modern PC to run well
A lot of grind at endgame
Lack of development funding

Honestly just keep playing FFXI until FFXIV comes out then play both and see which one you enjoy more.
The only way to get a FFXI like experience is to go back further in time to something like EQ. Vanguard would be the only other option I could think of.
Still FFXI is going really strong, tons of subs, servers full around the clock on most. Nothing beats FFXI still to this day.
