anyways, i wouldnt mind playing with all the settings turned all the way down as graphics arent that important to me.... but i will be buying a gig of ram and a new card for this game.... maybe motherboard/cpu as well...
and i think i might just get a 80 dollar gforce 5200 instead of a 440 dollar Uberwixorgraphiksblaster 1053830293489 1024mb Ultra.... hell, i could get like 2.5 gigs of ram for the cost of that card.... and imo ram > graphics card
17 days and counting............................
If you want like an $80 card I would recommend trying to find something like an ati 9600/pro(NOT the SE) or such. The 5200 is actually slower than a geforce 4 ti4200 in most games.

Ok ok so the FX5200 is not a great card but you know what she says it works fine for her and thats all that matters.
Don't push people into upgrading or feeling bad about their computers.
Everyone got their own things to do.I have a OCed R9800pro and my brother is using X800pro and we both thinking of getting new cards to run the extreme setting of EQ2 next year when the new generation cards come out(i am even thinking of a new build with PCI-E and a processor to match).
But you know what i have to plan ahead myself and so does my brother. We are both home owners with car loans and etc.I spent about $7000 on new windows and doors recently so some people have to budget.
Don't make anyone feel bad about their system please we all know when and where to upgrade as our own pace.
Originally posted by Aeryith Are you a freakin child or something? YES I bought that because it works very well and I'm not made of money. Why do you have such a big problem with my graphics card? I don't have a problem with your graphics card. I have a problem with you spreading unrealistic expectations for the performance of EQ2 on people's systems.
If you actually monitored the fps that you are playing at, I bet you would be surprised.
I was going to take fps counts earlier today but the servers were down. So here they are:
High Graphics:
The Ruins - small instanced zone
Idle - 20
Fight - 17
Crowded - 16
Commonlands - huge and known for laggyness
Idle - 17
Fight/Crowded - 11
Extreme performance
The Ruins
Idle - 40-45
Fight - 40
Fight/Crowded - 38
The Commonlands
Idle - 40
Fight - 37
Crowded - 35
No actually, I'm not surprised at the fps because I know what to expect from my own system. Contrary to your assumption, I know what I'm talking about. K now will you STFU about my graphics card? The High Graphics fps is not the best, but at least it's quite playable. The GeForce FX 5200 is for those people with not a lot of cash and still want playability.
edit: i know what it is... you're jealous that my system can run on high, just like yours... LOL what a laugh
AND if you still don't believe me, check out these videos I created while my graphics were on HIGH and AND I was running Fraps.
Ok, I didn't mean to insult anyone's video card or how they spend their money. I just think that there is a big difference between saying 'the game runs fine, no lag at all' and saying 'I get 11fps in battle'. (Those videos also didn't have many other players on the screen.)
In a tough fight(grouped) I need more than 11fps to tell what is going on, especially to tell if there are any adds, what exactly is attacking me, etc...plus it makes my eyes hurt
BTW, saying that the ti-4200 runs faster than the gfx5200 wasn't meant as an insult either. If the guy is really looking for a card in that price range, I want to help him out.
I got the 11 fps in the commonlands because of the area. i don't care what kind of graphics card you have, you're still going to lag out the same. when u play there, you'll find that out for yourself. your $400 graphics card can't fix that.

Server lag is different from graphics lag...and it only cost me $125 btw
I was thinking about getting the 6800 GT, but I need to get a laptop first. Maybe with tax returns...
Oh, and ya, I was also thinking about the lag/fps thing. You're right. But it's no biggie to lower the grpahics on big zones like that. You're not admiring the senery anyways when you're just fighting.

Glad we got that worked out.
I turn mine down to balanced in the commonlands if there is more than one group near.
Remember anything above 10FPS is usually quite playible in a RPG. If EQ2 is anything like SWG graphics will be as much system intensive as Vid card. I remember first playing SWG with a early 1.3ghz P4 with 512mb of RDRAM and Ti4200, I got less FPS with that system than the one I upgraded too; AMD 2500+ Barton 512mb DDR RAM and Geforce2 MX400 (my other card died). I was getting much better FPS with the older card and newer system. With that said I find her numbers quite reasonable and it makes my me confident that my current system will do quite well for now. 2500+"Barton" OC to 3200+, 1gig DDR 3200, FX5600 Ultra "flip-chip" OC.
P.S. To the origanel poster I too seriously recommend getting another 512 of RAM. I wouldn't get anymore or get a better card for you system. Intel has already switched to PCI-express and soon AMD will. I would personally recomend you just save your money and upgrade you entire system at a later time.
