aion looks so much more interesting than champions to me but i want to wait till i here more about aion from beta players until i decide to buy it or not. i doubt ill play champions ever.

Ive played Aion extensively and champions for a couple months now.  Im picking them both up, but I bought the lifetime for champions.  Aion is good and all, I just think NA is going to get the same back seat support we got from them in Lineage 2.

I guess we'll see, but I do plan on subbing to both of them.  However, Im having a lot more fun in Champions than I have been in the Aion chinese retail and the NA beta.  Something about Aion's combat system just doesnt grip me like Champions.

Honestly, I have no clue. I voted Aion because I've played Aion, but I haven't played CO. The only superhero MMO that I've played yet is CoH / CoV. I didn't much like it (them), but that was probably more the game than the sub-genre, so if CO does it "better", then I might go with CO. I will almost definitely eventually try both, but not likely to run out for either immediately after release, unless I win one of those free copies of Aion (and I never win anything so... lol)

CO is fun to me, Aion is a Korean-themed WoW clone... to me. So, Champions. Aion is more polished but that isn't enough to make me play a game.

    Aion hands down.

You should add a neither button, cuz that's what I'd push. I've played both and don't care for either. Aion is the same old MMO BS with wings rather than mounts, and CO is just a poorly conceived console superhero game with small zones and restrictive 'shards' that make it seem like hardly an MMO at all.

Wheres the neither option? Id quit MMO's before Id play either one of em

Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)
    Now Playing: N/A
    Worst MMO: FFXIV
    Favorite MMO: FFXI

Didn't play Aion, but I heard it was just another very polished MMO. Key word of course being, 'just another'.

Champions character creation is a game in itself, and the gameplay is more fun, cell shaded graphics are different and its a comic art style. I like it am in the beta enjoying it. Fun

Can I skip both for something better?

What makes them so confident for me to pay 15 bucks every month? Do they even have customer service? I hope it is not web page type customer service.

I have tried both betas... and I voted Aion. The combat for some reason had the "it" factor for me and thats all I need. Currently playing daoc for the new server merger prob won't get Aion right at release but maybe I hvant followed it close but I have played MMO's way to long and I know immediately for me if the combat is there and it has pvp I will be there the rest is just fluff :)

I'm glad there are people on this world who think like me.

Honestly, if I had to choose between Aion and CO, I'd choose nothing.

Havent tried Aion yet but I dont like the art style/graphics and it doesnt seem to be any differnt to WoW so Im gonna pass.

Played some in CO open beta and I cant understand why this game will have a monthly sub.... Cant find much positive to say outside character creation.

Actually had more fun in the Fallen Earth beta even though its not my kind of game at all, and the performance is very bad.

    So neither for me :)

    If WoW = The Beatles
    and WAR = Led Zeppelin
    Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

    Heh

    Same way reversed

Aion is fun to me, CO is a super hero themed Wow clone.

    :)

Each to their own I love the asian art style, PVP and having played Aion a lot both beta and chinese retail its definately my choice.

There was some element's of CO I did enjoy but its just not quite my game. Although I did enjoy my Blade looking and acting character Its a game I couldnt see myself commiting enough time to justify a sub.

I chose Aion because I liked what i saw in the beta. I never cared for CO.

  • IshimurahIshimurah Member Posts: 23

    Brilliantly stated.

I would have to say Aion would be my choice if I had to pick, I would also drop Aion for FFXIV when it is released.

What makes the new FFXIV so appealing?

The first FF MMO was my first MMO and remember it fondly, although it became a real knuckle dragging party grind game, even as a noob MMOer back then. The scenics, to me then, were amazing and the characters interesting and challenging.

Seems like the new one has not moved further grapically from any of the better graphics MMO's, at least based on the few screenies you can see. Granted it is early, but so far I dont think it looks as good as LOTRO, Conan or certainly, Champions or Aion or even Warhammer.

I would like to know, why are people going to be excited about the FF, tell me what I don't know!!

which will no doubt be called a wow clone on these boards just like everything else.

Since you asked which to recommend, I'd have to say Aion.

  • bonobotheorybonobotheory Member UncommonPosts: 1,007

If those were my only two choices, I'd turn off my computer and read a book.

  • VhalnVhaln Member Posts: 3,159

Aion is too same old same old mmorpg formula, but at least it sticks to what works, in a shiny new eye-candy sort of way.

Champions Online is different, like CoX, a game that's as shallow as they come, that's even more about the combat than most MMOs.  Unlike CoX, though, CO's combat is an awful step backwards.  It's like going back to the early days of EQ, with just auto-attack, except that CO feels like it only has two character types.  Ranged DPS and Melee DPS.  And they both just spam lame looking attack animations, tossing in the special attacks at a pace that's actually slower than most MMOs these days, as far as basic player involvement goes.

Some people like CO, but I swear, there will always be some people that like any game that's advertised well enough.  IMHO, it's got the worst gameplay I've seen in an MMO in years - and with all that crappy MMOs out there, that's saying a lot.

    When I want a single-player story, I'll play a single-player game. When I play an MMO, I want a massively multiplayer world.

  • heartlessheartless Member UncommonPosts: 4,993

Aion - a game filled with flamboyant looking characters with wings that's exactly like any other MMO out there.

CO - a game with robot/mecha/ninja/dark vampire characters with wings that's exactly like any other MMO out there only a bit more shallow, has no end game and lame arena style PvP.

    ***rant***

I swear, since open beta started, every single character I see is either a mecha robot looking guy or a vampire guy with wings or a combination of the two. Sometimes you see a ninja looking character but the character has either wings or mecha robot parts and/or is a vampire.

That's one of the reasons I will not be playing it.
