Those are some amazing updates, definately adds depth to the game and corrects some of the things testers were complaining about. They definately know what they are doing.
Maybe I missed something. For those of you in this thread who seem to think the "Linear Progression" is gone, I'm not sure I get it. From reading Moorgards post, it sounds to me that the Linear Progression is staying in place, however, now they are ADDING these things to it to allow people to make more "unique" characters.
So, I'm not sure why you are all saying they have totally abandoned the "original" system, because as I see it, it's still in place and fully functional under this planned change. The change just seems to enhance the original system.
technically all progression in almost all MMOGs is linear. However the difference is in how well they mask it, or if they just hit you in the face with it like a sledgehammer.
Everytime I Hear something new about Eq2 I get more and more Excited about the release of the game. The developers from SOE, atleast for the Everquest 1 & 2 teams have always made it a point to listen to constructive critism. I suppose thats why Eq1 has been around and as strong in customer base as it has for the past several years. Its just good to finally finally see some changes to the classes, I was getting kind of worried that if I played a Ranger, I was going to be more Thief than woodsman!
I dont care were the original idea "may" have come from, its still a different system in the long run.
Please Refer to Doom Cat with all conspiracies & evil corporation complaints. He'll give you the simple explination of..WE"RE ALL DOOMED!

I like the proposed changes. SOE seems to be moving in the right direction with EQ2. I can only say I am encouraged, but I refuse to get my hopes hope to high. SWG cured me of that. I will reserve my judgement of the game until I actually play it.
And I must say, there is never any reason to argue with Rhoklaw, he is incapable of having an intelligent discussion and unable to concede that anyone else's opinion has equal merit to his own.

Well, at least the Devs like him.. He gets five stars being completly arrogant and bathing in his "righteousness". I have lost two stars in a week, but they just came back by some strange reason.. I know, this beta is draining my endurance, taken a LOT of flack these weeks. So I know I am turning pottymouth... But after this.. HUGE improvement I suddenly ran out of gasoline...
Will just relax and gather strength until next week now. For you EQ II fans... It looks good. I have never been one, doing betas for the problemsolving challenge... But the future looks good for ya.
EDIT: Gah!! Where they come from?!! What I do?! I was nasty.. just six hours ago!? What I do?!!
Only game I wait for right now: Imperator. Go Mythic!

My 5 stars has nothing to do with the Devs liking me. I rarely even get into discussions with them, because I waste too much time dealing with EQ2 haters. Anyhow, criticize me all you want, cause like I said before, EQ2 is the game for me, I will defend it against the anti-EQ2 fans and yes, I can feel righteous about it.
One of many, Rhojan
But you really aren't 'defending' EQ2. You are just 'bashing' anyone with an opinion that sounds even remotely negative. You should learn to respect the opinions of others. Then you wouldn't have to worry about anyone 'criticizing' you.
If you can't respect that someone might not like something you do. Maybe you shouldn't post/read on forums.

LOL - Where do you people come from? Its like 1 ignorant person comes out to bash me and all of a sudden 5 more come out of the woodwork to join in. Do you even know me, have we discussed anything in the past which you might actually have to prove your posts point? Maybe you didn't bother to read MY post just before the one you quoted, which should pretty much clear up this ridiculous ongoing rant that you all seem to be obsessed with. I have defended EQ2 with several rebuttals, which were not flames or bashes. So again, I ask you, why are you bothering me? One of many, Rhojan
You'd think it was a political discussion, or religion, given how hard people go at each other, whether it's EQ2, WoW, or one vs the other.
My excuse being I go that hard at everything, all the time.

I'm sorry that you thought I was 'bashing' you. I was merely stating that from what I've seen of your post. That it's like you have something personal against anyone that has a negative comment. When their comments are nothing more then opinions. A comment/opinion that isn't praise. Doesn't denote that it's of any less value.
Once again I apologize if it seems I was bashing you. As it was not my intent.
PS: Yes I do read every post and thread in this forum. Although I've only commented on two or three of them.
In War - Victory. In Peace - Vigilance. In Death - Sacrifice.
I feel for Rhoklaw. I also have this passion to defend EQ2. Why? Not because of those people who actually gave a negative review of EQ2 because those are welcome. But those random people who say, " EQ2 sucks. Come play WoW. Again EQ2 sucks. Again EQ2 sucks." With no reason. And sometimes their reason for bashing is totally off. I hated Lineage2... Nothing but grinding and griefers. (And I hate to say that because I LOVE LOVE LOVE PVP) But I don't go there bashing the game because I let people try for themselves because they might like it. I gave my opinion end of story. You can read the tone of voice in their comments the "hardcore" bashing with no solid reason. Like EQ2 has no uniqueness. I say what game has more classes or races? That's 16races x 48 total classes. (24 final classes) Most class combos than any MMO that I know of. I actually prefer that a lvl30 wizzy for instance will be similar to me. Because I'd hate to create a character only to find out later on from nerfing and balancing that developing your character this other way like in D2 is better. Then you have to remake your character from scratch. Only to be changed again from possible nerfing or balancing.

Actually Doomsayer, once again, your wrong. I've agreed on several points about negative things about EQ2. I've agreed the crafting was tedious, but only for a good reason, I agreed the current Quest setup was more like Tasks. I even agreed the Group EXP Debt was going to cause a lot of problems. There was even a time when I said the gryphon probably wasn't very appealing with the wierd crest on its head, but despite that, it still looked enough like a gryphon. I agreed months ago that the graphics looked kind of plastic like. Theres probably a few other things I agreed upon with negative aspects of EQ2.
However, theres many aspects, as of recent reviews that I couldn't agree with. I felt the reviews were narrow-minded and not insightful. Most of these aspects were Linear Progression, Lag, Solo Unfriendly, Dumbed Down Combat and one other I cant recall. These aspects in this paragraph are not, nor ever have been a negative aspect of EQ2 in my opinion. Is there something wrong with me defending my opinion of EQ2? Just as you say everyone has a right to prove their points, I do as well, usually in the form of a informative rebuttal.
Congrats on your research of my post history... you get a D- for your efforts.

I love this response! It so makes no sense to what I wrote, and just proves my point. Well done Rhoklaw...I apprecaite it.
I never said you couldn't AGREE. I just said you could never concede that WHEN someone disagreed with you, that their point of view could possibly have as much MERIT as your own. Can you understand that difference?
I am not even suggesting that your opinion is wrong. Its an OPINION, it CAN'T be wrong.
When someone does disagree or pose a differing opinion, you usually flame, bash, or label them. Usually as idiots, EQ2 Haters, or WOW fanbois.
I am not an EQ2 Hater, I plan on playing the game, I have it on preorder, and can't wait to have a good time. I am not a WoW Fanboi, I have no desire to play the game, though its probably a good game, I really have no idea.
Oh, as for the D- on researching your post history. Frankly I am amazed you passed me! I'd probably have to fail you on actually READING what I wrote.

By the definition of concede, which you nicely displayed for us. What I said is still correct. I am not asking you to concede your opinion TO someone else's. But to simply concede that other people's interpretations, or opinions, of what they have seen/played/etc might have the same value and worth of consideration as yours. Without your constant attacks.
Now, some people have said some things that deserve to be flamed. But not the majority that you have attacked. You are overly defensive and unneccessarily rude to many people. Now I am not telling you to be carebear, but that kind of attitude toward others makes it very difficult for people to take the good things you say seriously. We just think to ourselves, "Whatever...there goes Rhoklaw again..."
But if you don't care, then I probably shouldn't either. So no I am not going to take this to another thread cause honestly...it doesn't warrant it. Heh, it doesn't even warrent having gone this far on this thread.

all of you EQ II vs WoW bickerers should truly get a life. Constructive criticism or even contrast/comparision is one thing, but to beat the poor forums up constantly with your blabbering is a joke. Ok, for starters, I do read what people post on these forums. When they don't bother to give examples or references to their opinions, then I try to figure it out on my own. If that ends up with no reasonable answer, then I usually reply with a rebuttal. Most of the time, if they reply, they repeat their original post statements and still are reluctant to prove their point. At this point, it isn't about merit, it's about whether they even know what they are talking about or if their just ranting for the hell of it, which a lot of WoW fanbois do in this forum.
The truth is Doomsayer, I am not a rude person, perhaps stubborn, but that comes from a reputation of researching information before I post. As for what people think of me and my posts, it's entirely up to them to interpret it any way they wish. My purpose here is to sort through the BS hoax reviews and lies that a lot of people post simply for the pure enjoyment of being an arse. If people don't want to get ridiculed by me, then all they have to do is post facts or opinions with references. There is no point for someone to post a thread... "EQ Suxxors" and then have the lack of common sense to post why.
If you think I don't care about EQ2, then your right, we have nothing to discuss. If the whole point of you posting in this forum is to convince me to repent of my ways, you can forget it. I've done what I felt was necessary to get this forum back on track. I do not bash every single negative post about EQ2, so the whole point of this conversation is annoyingly wrong.
Good luck in EQ2 and have fun.

Heh, I never said you didn't care about EQ2. I know you do. Sometimes I think too much. Where if one opinion differs from yours, you flame em. And thats really the whole point. I have seen you bash people, then ask for support about thier opinions, they give good support, but you still bash away. But that's just my opinion...and I am entitled to my opinion right?
My who cares comment meant, if you don't care how other people percieve you, as a beliigerant blowhard or worse, then why should I? I have seen some really insightful and good comments from you, but then they get just washed away by the attacks on others who have a different opinion. But since you obviously enjoy that, keep on...I just won't take anything you write with any seriousness whatsoever, as I am sure many have already started doing.
