I preordered and understand I have 37 days credit on my account. So ya, at least that long. I didnt get to far in closed beta (only lvl 14), not because I didnt want to play but rather because I just cant get real motivated knowing a wipe is coming.
When I said i had "time", i meant virtual time, i got no RL "time" for you.
The hype of this game wore off on me. I still its a really good MMO and maybe I'll play but the WoW changes interest me.. and I know for a fact I wouldn't play Aion for long because I going to get FFXIV and GW2 for sure... so I'm not sure what to do...
I"ve played from Beta 2 all the way to the Beta 6. I had ordered the Collector's Edition game box, and was really excited about it, however after playing it for those several betas, I began to wonder if I truly want to play this game when it launches or just sell my CE box.
Anyone else having the same second thoughts I'm having?
Playing from Beta 1 to Beta 6, got my first beta entrance by a MMORPG.com key giveaway, thanks to it I've tasted enough of the game to make sure I wanted to pre-order it, and haven't had second thoughts ever since I've logged into Atreia for the first time. Felt solid to me, gameplay areas branches out in the later levels instead of providing you an overwhelming 10-choice starting zone selection and then shrinking to 1-2 areas.
Played an average of around 6h/day throughout all betas, love weekends :P
Looking forward Open Beta now so I can play another class and understand how to fight against it, "know your enemy".
I pre-ordered CE, and I'll play it for a few months, but honestly, I think I'm getting sick of the treadmill of MMOs. Once GW2 comes out, I'll probably play that ultra-casually, since I don't have that subconscious 'must-play-to-get-my-$15-worth' thing going on in the back of my head.
Katsma is Lithuanian for 'he who drinks used douche fluid'.
Nope. I liked beta 1 though about 4 then found myself dreading logging in due to the limited nature of the game. If it expands I will play it still though. However beyond that I will await L3 and just stick with EVE. And to be honest the freedom eve provided is what really hurt me wanting to play Aion. Aion however is a very solid well put together game.
lollol ok. This IS L3. The only reason they named it aion is because the word "Lineage" is synominous with the word "grindest", and aion went for more question and less grinding.

L3 is still in development. Aion cannot hold a candle to the Lineage series. Aion is solid and good but its another straight line to whack a mole with nothing...repeat nothing to do outside of that. Crafting is so expensive that most will never master a profession and there is zero exploration qualities to this game. And question? Go back to school please or finish which ever.
The keywords here are "L3 is still in development". Aion isn't and is ready to play!
The card i pre ordered my CE with is no longer active due to fraud attempts from being sign up to darkfall. (go figure)
so i dont think im gonna renew my card number cuz half way through the beta i desided i just dont have time for it anymore to much of a grind im not able to put in that much time.

Yeah i had quests but its still a grind the quests just tell you to go Grind such and such amount of a mob so its all just to much grind to much repeating the past coming from a 3 year WoW vet just seems im reliving the same horrer that was WoW.

MMO's may not be right for you. I had a hunch you may have been coming from wow. You should try playing some older MMO's if you haven't, they can give you an idea what grinding is really like. its just mob after mob with no goal in sight, thousands upon thousands just to get close to leveling...to then grind them all again, no quests or direction.
From what I played in beta (lvl 20 or so) the game is pretty much the opposite of what I looking for in an MMO. I know pvp starts at 25 but I burnt out on the boring PVE gameplay before I even reached that point. So that's a bit of a warning sign.
WaR was a big dissapointment to me, however one thing I applauded was PVP from the get go. I had a lot of fun in those first 15 levels or so however the game world and PVE was so bland (despite cool innovations like public quests) that I just didn't care about defending my realm. I have a similar feeling with Aion, yet I never got to try PVP as I was forced to endure a painfully boring quest grind.
The classes are so freaking generic too . Spiritmaster is the only one that's not in every other game and even that is fairly unoriginal. How many times are RPGs going to fall back fire/earth/wind/water(heart! go planet!).
So yeah, I've got a CE pre-order and a bad taste in my mouth. I can't think of one thing I actually liked about the game. buuuut! I can overlook all that if the PVP is good enough. It still sounds promising the question is do I shell out $100 aud and endure the boring pre-25 (in my opinion) game to find out.
So many people trying to put out so much mis information about this game.. .usually people who say naa... I am just going to stick with WOW.. from what I have seen. This game while slower to level in is not a grind but alot of fun IMHO... I plan on keeping my CE and playing after launch dont think i will play the open beta though.

Iv played every MMO released since UO, EQ, DAOC, and my Favorite SWG (before NGE) i didn't play WoW till BC was released .
Only played wow because it was the only thing at the time that could half hold my attencion i just cant handle that style of theme park anymore.
So im going to Mortal online thats my main game right there im in beta and i LOVE IT!

Oddly enough I found directionless killing of difficult mobs with a full group of mates infinitely more fun than being told by an npc to go kill 10 boars by myself. Each to their own of course.

Dont get me wrong im in NO WAY bashing aion its a awesome game well polished fun to play. as i said i jsut dont got the time to invest into it cuz when i play that style i get addicted to it and wont Stop leveling till im maxed.
I just cant open that can of worms again due to School and starting a new job.

No, no, I understand the point you are making. I think it may just be the fact that the term grind is changing in definition. It's now going from grinding to "quest grinding". The point I'm making is that leveling in Aion is much faster than games that were strictly grinds (a lot of games from the asian devs).
To each their own obviously, good luck with everything maybe we'll see you on Aion when you balance all of your work!
yeah i m going to play . i ve played in a few betas , warcraft , lord of the rings and age of conan . this is the best one i ve played since warcraft i m interested to see what the gameplay is like in later levels . funnily enough the two games i did nt find boring at thier early level age of conan for tortage and warhammer for its pvp did nt really offer much else . warcraft i almost gave up in the first month untill i hit level 30 and realised its potential.
I played both 5 and 6 closed betas. I didnt over play either, just enough. I can just say that is nothing original at all. I really was hoping for something new, but alas. Story telling was "meh", questing was plain boring... They try to pull you in with "flying" but its not as cracked up as its portrayed. (That's all you have Aion? Your little wings? Good luck.)
Fanbois can say all they want about its outstanding customization but its nothing spectacular. AoC has a great customization tool... I am glad I got into the beta to try it, becuase I would have been royally disappointed with paying for it every month, especially if it is 15$. yuk.
I know this might be silly but whatever I will go ahead... The feel of the game is too eastern to me. Everything is kung-fu style and the emotes are really stupid ( It was actually annoying to a point.). If they had any marketing sense the developers would have seen this as a potential flaw. YES I KNOW it is a game from Korea, but their the ones marketing to ME.
What I hope for the players is that they will limit the amount of customization. I was playing with tiny characters with huge heads... or huge characters with tiny heads. The customization tool allows you to go extremely small or extremely huge with your character's body. This is so very annoying. More power to you if you like your character this way but it ruins the gameplay for me.
The graphics are not at all outstanding and I have a rather good PC. I really dont care about graphics as long as story telling in the game is good, but that was not present in Aion. They story seems like it has been told a thousand times before (some of the cut scenes are actually awkward to watch). Especially when I met the Deku Tree in a lower level zone...
For me the game just didnt pull me in. I had no drive to get back on and play. I wasn't pulled into the game like I was in FFXI. I am glad others find it fun, but I did not.

i agree i'm glad i'm skipping this game too
everything about the game is too korean from the graphics to the grind
I was super hyped on the game and I was watching its progress for the past year and a half or so. I participated in the last two betas and played 3 different characters. I leveled a SM to 19, an assassin to 16, and a templar to lvl 12. I fought the temptation to grind one character to lvl 30 because I knew I would just get irritated and burned out at the end because it would be deleted. Instead I stuck to my goal of trying different aspects of the game like playing different characters, soloing, and partying. I am definitely going to play this game the moment it comes out because after trying out different aspects of the game and NOT BURNING MYSELF OUT I am able to visualize myself playing this game in the long run and enjoying it. The foundation and core mechanics are pretty solid and in my opinion has what it takes for a long lasting game. The classes are pretty balanced for an MMORPG and the developers seems pretty dedicated and are quick with updates and adding new content. I also like that the game appeals to a broad spectrum of players- guys, girls, pvpers, pve-ers, hardcore and not so hardcore. Personally I think its when you start to cater only a very small portion of players where your community starts to suck and game starts to fail (ala age of conan-> hardcore pvpers and male only gamers with high-end computers).
I solo'ed most of the time but towards the end I started to party more which made the game much more fun for me. It seems like everyone wants to party and make friends but are all too shy to say hello. If you get past this fear and actually try to enjoy the community the game will be even more fun.
in short, I will be definitely playing this game when it comes out.
Most memorable games: AoC(Tryanny PvP), RIFT, GW, GW2, Ragnarok Online, Aion, FFXI, FFXIV, Secret World, League of Legends (Silver II rank)
the only thing i was disappointed with in the beta was that there were too few players.. not a lot of people cared about the beta (tho i cant really blame them since its all wiped anyway). even in the rank 1 asmo legion on siel, there were only a handful of level 30's at the very end. i'm actually looking forward to the release because i know that this problem wont exist with so many more players.
I"ve played from Beta 2 all the way to the Beta 6. I had ordered the Collector's Edition game box, and was really excited about it, however after playing it for those several betas, I began to wonder if I truly want to play this game when it launches or just sell my CE box.

Theres not much on the market atm.. so y i will play it, and my friends too.
We are and lots of people is waiting for other mmos to come and hoping they will be grand and not fails like what we been getting for the last years [ AoC WAR etc ]. Until that day comes, Aion looks a good option..
Let's see, you didn't play it [at all], yet you think your opinon matters... you must be a POLITICIAN. Quests, quests and quests - with pvp for spice and flying too... but you just wait, TOR will beat em all....

You should try playing some older MMO's if you haven't, they can give you an idea what grinding is really like. its just mob after mob with no goal in sight, thousands upon thousands just to get close to leveling...to then grind them all again, no quests or direction.

I always had quests to do up until level 23...weird that you were grinding.
Sorry to hear about your card, I've heard that in addition to the hacks that there were many fraud attempts.
