Seems a bit odd to me that CB is long over and yet no word on OB. Most of the fan sites and Aion twitter pages mention something about OB right after CB. Yet here we are 8 days out of CB and still no word to be found.
Try reading some of the posts on the fansites and on this site. The announcement of when OB starts will be this week.
Did read that post and the one above it stating beta should start between aug 23 and sept 22. Was just stating its odd its taking them this long to announce OB on a game thats ready for play, but thanks for that deep insight lol

Maybe this isn't the case. There were still another 20 levels of high end content we never got to test.
Agreed, but we know the content works just dont know about the westernizing lol. Well either way hope they anounce soon, was in CB but didnt want to go to crazy and burn myself out. With OB just hoping to try out a touch of grouping with my buddies then ill just sit back and wait till release.

Taking them this long? 8 days is too long for you?
There were two weeks between each CB and so far it has been just over a week.
I wouldn't get your hopes up of several weeks of OB, I think the way the CB ran they want to keep the game fresh for all so no one is likely to be allowed to get max level IMO. I think the OB will be pretty much a few days of stress testing servers and a peek at 1.5 for the masses.
I hope that I am wrong would love a good stretch in Aion, especially as I am away during launch so will have to wait an extra week to play

It's really not odd for NC Soft. they are the type of company that will announce something when they feel like its worth announcing it.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
It isn't odd... Any source that stated a date or even timeframe for open beta was purely speculative as no information regarding open beta was or has been released for the moment. All we know is that an announcement is scheduled to be made this week, and we know that open beta will be using the 1.5 patch. We also know that the 1.5 patch will be distributed through torrents, and that the file is roughly 4 gbs (if you already have the 1.0 client). Because the patch is so large I expect the patch to be released at least 3 days prior to the open beta servers coming up. Today being tuesday and the lack of an announcement at this point makes it seem unlikely to me that beta will start until either next weekend or late next week. It could even start the week after that depending on what ncwest decides, but I expect the weekend after this one open beta will be up.
Look for an announcement this week though. I would guess it would be made on thursday or friday.

Not to mention that the basic voice overs and cut scences were not ready for closed beta. Plus they still have the work of translating the latest patches as well.
As far as I know, first OB should take place around 1 September

I agree with one of the previous posts, the important thing to remember is they will be patching 1.5 in for OB. I'm sure there's some localization going on with that as well as 30-50.
Making excuses aside, they aren't going to make an open beta a month long. There's no need for people to hit 50 just to get wiped again. I'm certainly looking forward to OB though
In a market where years of work and money all hang in the balance on a good release of a title you would think the longer the open beta the better the return on your investment. In my opinion the biggest complaint from players is essentially "lack of polish". Be it a need for more content, better graphics, better animations, better world design, better story flow, better leveling dynamics. All these amount to more polish. If I were the people signing the checks I would want to make sure that everything is perfect by the end of open Beta, otherwise it is like Ford releasing a new mustang that doesn't have wheels.
I'm torn with the OB, do I play just so my char can be wiped again? Do I asmo knowing I'm going to play elyos at launch? or do I play elyos so that I can try and zoom through the early quests? Should I practice with a templar (launch class) or do I try some others out for a bit of fun?
I'm not sure I really want to play OB but I'm sure I will anyway - i'm not self-disciplined enough to resist playing when it's just a click away..

I thought it was a bit odd too that they haven't posted when OB is going to start. I'm guessing we'll get some info the first week of September.
