Meh, I would have considered if it was referring to GW2 instead of 1.

Which marketing guy seriously approved this thing...

If i buy Aion thats one thing, but if i go out of my way to get the collectors edition, that probably because i dont plan on playing guild wars 1.

Wow, I feel sorry for those hardcore Guild Wars players who like to collect everything.

I've never played Guild Wars, but just the idea makes me think less of ncsoft.

It's just another bonus for having pre-ordered the CE. I don't think this is to draw people in, its just for the fans of NCsoft games. Chances are there are a bunch of people still playing Guild Wars interested in Aion. Give them an emote. Don't cry if you don't want it.

This is absolutely hilarious, because it's absolutely true. LOL  I can't think of ANYONE who would be like, "I wasn't planning on playing Aion, but ZOMGICANGETAIONWINGSONGUILDWARSLEMMEPRE-ORDERNOW!"

What gimmick will think think of next? Howe about purple underwear for your toon? This is the weakest reward that I have seen offered in a preorder. If they have beta access to GW2 or even a chance at beta access then this would be a real reward. I am tired of companies offering gimmicks like this.

Can someone tell me if Aion is using the GWs engine?  I've played WOW for like five years but I'm dead to it now. I played AOC for about one month, left when I found out there was no farming allowed cos the bosses scaled, Plus the fact everything was on exploit farm.  Played LOTRO online and was totally fed up with it. Massive sprawling landscapes of nothingness. As for Guildwars, well, it may have been a good game if it came before WOW, but it didn't and it just felt like a it's poorer cousin.

I really want to play AION, but a beta key would help me decide better before i just throw good money away.

I Like GW but what the hell is the point? You can't even Jump, let alone Fly. Give them wings to add another thing to block your view.

    I'll pass

Hell no Aion doesn't use GW's engine. Aion runs on CryENGINE.

Cool. I'll no doubt give it a try. I just have to stay away from WOW until it comes out. That way I won't be too mentally engaged with missing WOW even though right now I'm off WOW and have little to no intentions of going back to it after 5 years.

Damn, I just found out it's open PvP, so that's a major no no for me. I really wanted to give this a try too. My experience of PvP servers is one of utter frustration, and never to be repeated.

But what about all of us who bought Aion CE on Steam, just to play the Beta?!

WTH, NCSoft?! Come through for us, too!

  • MNZebaMNZeba Member Posts: 254

I believe that you will get it as long as you got that code for the betas.

Interesting...anyone care to argue that i said their marketing ploy all along for AION was flying?now their trying to bribe with not even flying but just the wings. This marketing strat is obviously beyond my scope of imagination, because i could not see one person buying Aion to receive an in game emote in GW2.I guess if you had money to burn, throw away but even then it seems like a wasted purchase.Think about it,that game would cost 70 bucks for sure in Canada,so a 70 dollar emote?? lmao.

For NCSOFT's marketing staff to figure this will amount to more sales of AION,they must be really desperate or really dumb, either way like  i said not person will do this for the sake of an emote.

There is a decent chance i will do some kind of gaming in GW2,but they couldn't pay me real life money to buy Aion for an emote lol.Well if they paid me the cost of buying Aion i guess no harm done, lol, but it would still be a waste of time ,since i wouldn't be playing Aion, and i have no care for any emotes period let alone one that reminds me of AION.

Marketing is suppose to be a strat to encourage potential or not so potential players, but this will ONLY target those that were going to play both anyhow,so a marketing team that obviously failed their grades in school.

I do not buy that for a second. If this was a goodwill gesture, that's fine, i think you should give the players something/anything,but i would state it as a goodwill gesture,i would not DISGUISE a good thing as a marketing ploy.

If you want to make your company look good, you come right and say, look we appreciate the people that are playing both ,so here is a little in game present. You don't use the term "IF" meaning "if" you are going to play one then you get this..that is marketing and in this case a big fail.

This game will go through many many changes when it arrives, it will take months just for it to settle, then you'll have all the complaints that will have to be addressed along with bugs and exploits. Maybe a year after launch we will get a better Idea of what's going on.

The one thing that makes me hopeful is that the game has already been running in Asia for nearly a year. Hopefully that means a lot of bugs are worked out already.

As for the wings as a marketing ploy, I am a long-time Guild Wars player switching to Aion. Keep in mind GW is petering off, because NCSoft and ArenaNet are working on GW2, and they're not going to release any more content (they say). So, what an opportune time to entice GW players over to another NCSoft game, for the many months they will be developing the Guild Wars sequel?

Its not much, but it might be enough to get some of the many Guild Wars players (like myself) who have run out of things to do completely, to get on a different one of their games. Of course, I'm just doing it because I'm bored ;)
