Can you go into any city depending on you faction or will you never be able to enter some, just like <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Freeport and Qeynos? And how hard is it too sneak around Qeynos and Freeport?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Some races, like the high elves and dark elves have no choice weather to be good or evil at the start. So if you're a dark elf planning to lay roots in Qeynos, you have to wait for the betryal quest. Seems logical. Also, here's a ss of the world map:

I hate to say it, but that map is weak. Not your picture of it, the layout. Is there a reason its so divided into neat little sections all about the same distance apart by water? Something in the lore?

Even most the islands have almost identical shapes. A kid could have easily come up with that kind of layout.

I guess it doesn't matter really, just looks like they didn't try very hard when coming up with the geography.

I could be wrong if there is a good reason, lore-wise...please let me know if there is...

Actually, you're not KoS, technically. They won't kill you, it just boots you out to the Commonlands/Antonica.

But you can sneak into either city if you're careful. Won't do you too much good though, as NPCs won't sell, or talk to you.

Seems to me I heard somehting about this. There is supposed to be a sewer system under each city that you can get access to each city with. And there was supposed to be some sort of black market there so that you could deal with venders. Coldmeat, correct me if I am wrong...come on..do your best damn you..I dare ya..I double dog dare ya...I TRIPLE DOG DARE YA!!!!

Interesting world setup. I think things might be this way so its easier for them to add new lands as time goes on. Instead of adding new zones to exisint landmasses, just add a new landmass. Wouldn't be surprised if Kunark, Faydawr, Velious, or other lands that were formed during the destruction of the world were found and put into the game at later dates either being made live or in the forums of expansions.

yes, there are sewers in Freeport called "Thieves Way."

While i haven't found any blackmarket stuff (as Freeport is pretty much chaotic anyways) there are some really nice things to behild down there.

Also, Qeynos version of the sewers is an old Catacomb.

    Yeppers

Not much in the way of merchants, though. Just one or two, and last I was there they didn't have much in stock. Most of the merchants haven't been itemised yet.

Old catacombs ya say? I would probably be remiss to think that they might be like the old christian catacombs from ancient rome, or even the "Way of the dead" catacombs under Paris.

Ok i was wondering about something.

To get to all these islands do you take a boat, the tunnels that were mentioned, or by griffon back? Or maybe all three?

for many of the zones you ring a mariner's bell which gives you a pop window of all zones that you can dock to. Then you zone.

The more harder zones, you have to wait for a ship to dock to take you there.

Griffons are there to help you navigate around very large zones (from within the zone and not outside to another).

The sewer tunnels will connect you to slum town to slum town on the outskirts of Freeport while the old catacombs can connect you to various city villages in Qeynos.

I believe the lore behind the little islands is that Luclin exploded and devastated Norath, tore apart the old land and created this land.

Someone asked why they look like that, I think that's what happened, correct me if Im wrong.

I've been to the place under Paris with all of the bones.  While I don't think it was "scary", it was definitely surreal.  Looking at the skulls and stuff makes you really wonder if it's all real.   But anyway, I'm really interested to hear about these other places you have been to!

ya, after the land got messed up, i read about the lore of the dark elf city. there are still dark elfs in the city, it's just blocked off from the outside world. the dark elfs you play in the game are viewed as traitors by the DE seald off on the city. That'll be intresting if they ever un-seal it. Heh.

    DE Lore:

    Recent History

Since the closing of the entrance to Neriak, the dark elves left on the surface have been cut off from their ancient home. Those that fled to Freeport did so out of a sense of self-preservation rather than an actual desire to cooperate with the Overlord or the other races. While tolerating the squalid conditions of the city districts, they actively scheme for personal advancement. The Freeport dark elves are willing to play along for now, but are looking for any opportunity to take advantage of the weakness of others.

In contrast, Teir'Dal calling themselves Thexians are in the process of trying to reopen access to their home city. These devout zealots view the Freeport dark elves as having sold out their heritage, and look down on them with disdain. The Thexians detest being forced to live above ground in Nektulos, viewing the reclamation of their former greatness to be an inevitable function of their destiny. Dark elves who do not pledge to support the efforts of the Thexians are viewed as traitors to their culture and shunned by the "true" Teir'Dal. As to the dark elf queen and her subjects who remained below, their deeds and fate since the closing of Neriak remains a mystery to their kindred above.

Any chance you can get in good with those Thexians? I think it would be cool to help reopen Neriak.

Will more than likely happen a few months after release, along with 'rediscovery' of the 'old world' from EQlive. Like Kunark, Fayd, and Odus, to follow.  Just have to wait for the Gnomes to find a way to fly, make a big enough bomb, or somthin or another, that will cause the expansions.
