Another bad MMO business move (PERKS)

Champions Online introduces even more bad business as it appears, not all RETAIL / DIGITAL DISTRUBTIONS GET EQUAL PERKS
Kinda sad, that if you PRE-ORDER a game, that you have to lose some benefits others may receive, regardlEss of what may have or have not been relased by company.. It's not a customers main purpose to have to be shopping to buy an item unyet released and lose out on some bonsues such as HEADSTART access, but even more importantly NOT RECEIVE $5 credit in Cryptic Cash
other retailers are offering..
Thats right, check your orders people, if you ordered from the wrong place, you will NOT get $5 credit that other places offer, for the same price in the same game, at the same time at the same FULL RETAIL PRICE
This is just bad business, totally unetchical and I hope you complain, currently from the few complains, the response to them noone seems to care.. Maybe most of them are forum dwellers.. Retail business is not forum fanbois, and there is no excuse for having only some retailers have these EXTRA PERKS.. This is just immorral.
So some people who ordered on D2D and AMAZON months ago, (the true investors) before most of this stuff was mentioned, which makes them MORE IMPORTANT to Cryptic than any defending forum dweller. who is going to come here and defend them..
Or moreso, some people in certain parts of the world get PISSED ON, because they dont have these stores or they won't deliver to them or they simply cost TOO MUCH MORE for shipping etc.
There is no excuse for this.. and I think everyone who pre-ordered should have full refund rights or full rights to FREEBIES of their friggan choice.....
Let's even go another example.. I wanted the backpack, for space right off the bat, i know ill need as I am a crafter... I dont want no item from GameStop that i dont like.. but I know have to order from GameStop because it gives $5 FREE??

That last one only makes sense if you are outside and shaking your fist at the wind, which I am guessing is usually what you do when not posting on forums.
It's not really a big deal for me. Each different distributors have different deals. For example if you buy from direct2drive you get a backpack as a perk, if you buy from EBgames you get the Fly wings, etc. In fact you can pretty much pre-order from all the different distributors input the keys and then cancel the pre-orders (if you can) and you still get the bonus. Note: some vendors (esp the online ones) will NOT let you cancel.
How about when you bought your PS3 you dont get MARIO KART if bought from BEST BUY, But you do get it from CompUSA, at the same price and it was PRE-ORDER? Seriosuly you call that fair business? LOL
How would you like it, that you live in a state where BEST BUY DONT SHIP TOO, so even though you ordered 3 months before everyone else, you had to order it form the other place, and get no FREEBIE, sniff pout, no reason to complain huh..

Rather than rant here, why not go to the vendor you pre-ordered from and ask them about it?
Roper isn't the devil, he didn't set this up to personally go "Hmm, I really want to screw people who pre-ordered six months ago out of five dollars." I doubt he is watching you right now taking copious notes of how to irritate you slightly. However, if you enjoy that fantasy I know what you should base your in-game nemesis on when you start playing.
Every single Game not just MMOs does this......and yet Champions is guilty? Please shut up and move on. Batman Arkham Asylum? Depending on where you pre ordered from is what unlockable character you got. They did it with Numerous games..boo friggin who pick the one that has the deal you like and buy it simple as that.
Its all about marketing for the STORES not the Game in question. The game wins regardless of who sells it but the stores have to have a way to compete with each other and they do it through the pre order freebies...god people bitch about anything but atleast Bitch about in general and not place all the blame on 1 single game.

I take it the OP does not understand Marketing a game first off Cryptic had nothing to do with what stores did what the stores bought those items in advance from cryptic to get your bussiness. So you want to blame someone blame the stores that are adding the extras to the pre order like best buy for makeing your day hard I guess. I mean its only $5 you could spange that from kids around your school give up your snack pack or do someones homework......

First, Company A goes to Atari/Cryptic and signs up to sell the game. Part of that deal is perks, items that help sell the product, that NO ONE ELSE can offer. The company pays Atari/Cryptic for those perks.
The idea being that the perks that Company A offers will be of more interest then those of Company B. If both A and B offered the same thing then Atari/Cryptic wouldn't be able to get more money from them. In addition, both Companys can get an idea of how many pieces to order to maximize the store profit and have fewer leftover items to move.
One of the reasons that the subscription specials were reinstated was people were cancelling way to many pre-orders that the company already paid for.

Hello, you have a point, unfortuantely its not a good one and here is why.
Any competiting IPO would sue that company for UNFAIR BUINESS PRACTICES, and just would never be accepted by even the company doing so... You can't commit one company over another in this way to gain a retail edge over the others... That is totally illegal guy. And no company would do that because that other retailing outlet would be liek FU, go away we dont care and never list their items again... And if you know retail, you would realize the power of publishers and relationships here wouldnt allow that for a single moments thought

Dude its not a big deal they get a 3 day head start and for those 3 days those people will being kicked off every 15 minutes like every other game that started early. So they will not have any real quality time playing before launch. Second $5 dollars I am sure someone would pay you $5 dollars to just stfu Ask I am sure someone would.
I mean yeah I pre ordered 3 months ago on D2D and I got hosed on the $5 and the early time was I mad I was a bit miffed but nothing to go out and kick a puppy over.. So big deal we dont get Early start and 5$ but the pack is bad a$$ and more then happy with the fact I will be able to carry more then the people who got $5 and that Rediculas headdress.
Plus if the items are tradable people will be paying Big $ for the pack you could sale yours and buy the Costume or the other items trust me that pack will be good.
Aren't you the OP? kinda odd to refer to yourself like that, but anyhow. Your point would only be valid if this game had a limited edition and thus pre-ordering early would be required to make sure you got the item.
More valid point would be if you would buy a PS3 today and a week later it costs $100 less... Oh wait that happens all the time...
Pre-orders make it simpler, just cancel it. And if you pre-ordered a digital copy there wasn't really a reason to do that so early (unless you wanted the lifetime option).
To be honest, I did find it odd they offer different deals. But it's not something I consider a bad business move, it's just about $$. And the consumer still has the choice to pick which offer to take or to take none at all. Of course I went for gamestop because I wanted an early start, the rest doesn't really matter to me.
So all in all, I think you're one of the few who actually is "upset" about this...
