This is sad news for players from Australia, Singapore, New Zealand etc.. as it appears Aion will be only playable on East Coast servers in the USA.

Alan,
All Aion servers at this time will be located on the East Coast. This may change
after launch but at this time there are not any plans to do that. Let me know if you
have further questions.

What this basically means is 100+ ping difference from a West to East Coast server. Basically making a PvP type game like Aion unplayable for oceanic players. If this issue isn't rectified NcSoft could potentially see 1000s of oceanic customers cancel due to lag issues.
I will most likely cancel if the servers remain on the east coast, since the game wont be playable with a 300+ ping .

I don't know if there are seperate EU servers? I hope not. As I hate segregation.
But then I could understand this reason.
As it's then a bit of a central position between oceanic, westcoast and europe.
Plus, as in most MMO's with PVP spells have a global cooldown timer. So that should make it a lot less dependable on pings.
just my 2cents
lol all of them east coast? Awesome.

I believe EU will have their own servers. I agree with you that NCSoft shouldn't be doing this.
To the OP, sorry to hear that. Think this is a mistake on NCsofts part.
Oceanic servers for a majority of MMO's seem to be an issue. Not really sure why this is. Anyone want to comment?
well, it does seem that most farming and botting activities are focused around Hong Kong and the Far East. This may be a way of discouraging that. Maybe they will take the same tack as EVE and put all Chinese and Korean and Japanese players and put them on one server.

Large MMOs like WoW have west coast servers in the US for oceanic players to connect to which deal a playable ping of ~200. Connection to east coast US servers causes additional lag due to routing issues, which yields an unplayable ping of 300+. This is a huge problem for potential oceanic customers.

NCSoft does have EU servers, now weather they're actually in the EU is another story.

I guess my question is, if there are enough Oceanic people(Australia/New Zeland for example) to warrent an Oceanic server, then why are companies like NcSoft not establishing such servers? Are Aussies/New Zelanders forced then to play on the Korean or other Asian servers that may not support English?
You cant stop any gold farming, they can just buy a US pack and loh into the same server as us and farm.
In a pvp game ping is very important, so now im going to get 200 to 300+ ping, on a good day that is, i dont know how am i gona complete with the rest...
