Howdy!
Though I normally know my way around the MMORPG Genre, I thought I'd try asking you guys this time instead of going off on my own. I'm currently looking for any MMO that has the best healing/supporting experience. I know, I know, when it comes to healing most games are the same; but I thought it was worth a shot getting your personal opinions on it.
I'd be interested in any active healing class or any active support class. It does not have to do well in solo-play, but can be fun sto play while in a group. I could also go in the debuff direction, if there is such a class out there, but my primary goal right now is to be supportive and active in a group. Therefore, Healer is probably the best way to go!
Thoughts and opinions?
Thanks,

I really like playing a Cleric in DDO, its a melee fighter with heavy armor and shield and the best healer in the game. In DDO you have a limited amount of Spell points which doesnt regen over time like in other MMOs so you have to really plan how to heal and not just spam your skills/spells.
The Rune keeper in LotrO is also alot of fun, its a nuker/healer hybrid and is a very flexible class.
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd
Did you check out Aion? Chanter is malee dps/healer type with chain armor or cleric is ranged dps/good healer. Both of them can solo very well and are fun to play.
You might like the White Mage class in Final Fantasy online, the whole combat systems unique, as for support i suggest Corsair in FFXI also, extremely fun, ur just the guy who sits there as the buffer, u can damage deal also, and some pretty decent stuff too, as for the de-buffer Redmage in FFXI (again XD) is what that job was made for, it is the debuffer, and another fun healer is Scholar, which switches between using healing, or offensive magic when the player wants.
to be a Redmage (RDM)- you just need the orig. FFXI disc
To be a Whitemage (WHM) same as the redmage
Corsair need the Treasure of Aht Urgan Expansion
Scholar needs Wings of The Goddess expansion
for Scholar and Corsair you need to have one job at level 30 to do the quest. Hope I helped
There's a lot of variety in healing and support in Vanguard. Martial arts healers that need to melee to heal (disciple), close range dot and ramping caster healers (blood mage), armoured clerics, stand back caster healers(shaman). For support there are bards and druids (druids can do a bit of healing but are really dps buffers).
Unfortunately consistantly finding groups will not be easy as the world is big and the population is low.
It may be old, but I would have to say EQ2 has the best support-like classes. You got the Mystic/Defiler which are buffer/debuffers, then theres the Warden/Fury, which are the combat based healings with great buffs. Then for a support with solo capabilities you could go with the Illusionist/Coercer route. They are all really good in the end-game. It just depends on your play style.
Wow, thanks for all the suggestions! I'm definitely going to try some of these out real soon.

I second this post. VG has some very interesting and unique healing classes: Disciples and Blood Mages spring to mind. I don't have personal experience with them (Dread Knights all the way ), but from what I've seen most classes, if not all, are well done, interesting, and unique. Combat (or healing) in VG is definitely something you think through, especially if you want to be effective.
About the only thing I might (mildly) disagree with is the latter part of their post. ;p Join a guild, use chat, and use the social ("O" key) windows, or better yet, bring a friend to VG. Visit major hubs to find others. The key to finding people is to network and search for them. It might happen sometimes, but PUG's don't usually just fall into your lap. Even before I brought a friend to VG, however, I never really had a tough time finding groups or guilds, and the population has been steadily improving since then. But I do understand rounner's sentiment. ^^
