WoW is supremely polished gameplay that is easy to learn but hard to master (pve to pvp).
WoW has incredible animations and performs well on a variety of machines.
WoW has a wide array of events to do. Everything from extremely hard core raiding / pvp to very casual playing is supported.
WoW uses the story and cut scences in game extremely well. The player feels like part of the story.
WoW has a huge and diverse community that nearly everyone can find a home in. My brother's and my old raiding guild was mostly male and 20 something. My current guild is very balanced men to women and mostly 30's.
I happen to like AoC graphics and music better, but WoW is the definition of an all around well designed game. The game may not appeal to you but the factors above are why WoW dominates the MMO industry.

Where is the quality? Dumbed down gameplay and graphics that are five years old and were not good good graphics when the game was new. Playing a game and enjoying it is one thing, constantly reminding everyone of the high sub numbers as proof that its the best game ever is just ludicrous. I guess im the anti cheerleader here.

To be honest who the hell would want to pay an extra 500+ just to play one game. Also mmo's aren't meant for just gamers anyone should be able to get into one. The reason why so many people hate WoW is since WoW came out there has been many games that tried to do the same thing and that's not what they wanted. They could go back to the games Pre WoW but the thing is they are already burnt out on those games. So with very few games are coming out that interest them and I feel their pain. While I don't hate WoW I just wish it never existed simply because it changed the genre in the wrong direction IMO.
I don't hate anyone that plays WoW either cuz that would be hypocritical because I subbed to it of and on for 12 months. There are just so many things that WoW made popular that I don't like. Like sparkles over quest items, quest hubs with ? over top of quest givers, instanced PvP, and OMG the endless gear grind. I felt like once I got a sweet drop in a dungeon the next few days after I gained a few levels my stuff was already obsolete. I understand that every MMO is basically a gear grind but it felt worse in WoW. Maybe because im used for it taking forever to level up and being on the same level for days and only getting new gear maybe once a week or so.
Also to much soloing going on in the game for me. Sorry im a Ex FFXI EQ player and I like to group a ton. WoW just seemed like a solofest then you grouped up for a dungeon did a speed run then everyone went their way. Most of the time you never even needed a group to do anything.
WoW was an amazing game for 10mill+ obviously but it just left some of us different kind of gamers in the dusts with no games to play basically, which quite frankly sucks ass. But hopefully there will be a few decent gamers that are for games like me, I really havent had a game I can call home in a long ass time and has kept me interested for a long period of time like FFXI did.

It is a good game in some aspects. The community is strong due to the number of players and the gameplay is there. The graphics are a bit out-dated....which allows the game to be played on most computers. There are the drawbacks as well. But, what game has all good points and no bad points ???
What do you mean by "quality"? If you are talking bug free polish, I don't think there are any games that are as good as WoW. If you are talking quality of game mechanics, well that is a very broad topic. Unfortunately for the genre, there really aren't a lot of games that are better than WoW mechanic-wise, simply because every game that has come out in the last four or so years has attempted to mimic WoW mechanics. One game that I think is truly better than WoW is Guild Wars. The class/skill system is far superior to WoW's, and I find both the PvE and PvP content to be more entertaining and balanced. Guild Wars isn't about the grind. Just my opinion though.

As for guild wars being a better game I wouldn't argue that aside from personal preferences. It is a very well made game that great design and polished. It does some things better than wow, but at the same time it lacks or doesn't do things better than wow. Both great games, but also both pretty different games. Apples and oranges if you will. Both delicious fruit, but very different from each other.

Bro your reasoning against the game is not very sound. Leveling in wow takes time but its not hard we all know that. Leveling isn't really hard in any game just time consuming. Secondly, You say the games just plain easy and lacks any kinda quality. Even the most veteran WoW hater knows the games high quality they just don't like the gameplay
Let me break it down for the haters in this thread.
WoW is supremely polished gameplay that is easy to learn but hard to master (pve to pvp).
WoW has incredible animations and performs well on a variety of machines.
WoW has a wide array of events to do. Everything from extremely hard core raiding / pvp to very casual playing is supported.
WoW uses the story and cut scences in game extremely well. The player feels like part of the story.
WoW has a huge and diverse community that nearly everyone can find a home in. My brother's and my old raiding guild was mostly male and 20 something. My current guild is very balanced men to women and mostly 30's.
I happen to like AoC graphics and music better, but WoW is the definition of an all around well designed game. The game may not appeal to you but the factors above are why WoW dominates the MMO industry.

Where is the quality? Dumbed down gameplay and graphics that are five years old and were not good good graphics when the game was new. Playing a game and enjoying it is one thing, constantly reminding everyone of the high sub numbers as proof that its the best game ever is just ludicrous. I guess im the anti cheerleader here.

First off WoWs graphics are heavily styalized and at high setting look just as good as the rest ( Besides AoC since im a sucker for the ultra realistic stuff). Secondly, nothings really been dumbed down the boss fight and raids are very heavily scripted and unique unlike most of the garbage out there. Idiots post the sub numbers. I agree with you on that much. Subs don't make a game good they just make it successful. You don't like the game its fine not everyone does especially on these forums. However, your statements have no ground and just make you look like a hater. Actually scratch that most WoW haters at least have some valid reason for it you however don't.

haha insulting is typical to only wow bud. that all started when the first humans started throwing poop at eachother but thats a story for another time. The thread title was bragging about WOW's numbers. My post about low spec requirements and easy game play was one reason for the high numbers. But what is the point? You deny that, you deny tired graphics and you deny an immature community. Enjoy your game, you have helped make it what it is.
Perhaps it is up to the person to decide what is fun to play for themselves? What is fun for you is not necessarily fun for someone else.

If number one is at 5 to 7 PAYING million (not counting the Chinese) and one is at 300 K subs and the rest WAY under 200K....

there are over 6 billion people on this planet now take away about 2-3 billion for lack of computers and poverty etc and there are over 2 billion people who have decided they dont want to play wow compared to 5-7 mil like people have said just because a couple million people think its the best does not mean it is its not the best unless EVERY and i mean EVERY person on this planet were to play it and then play nearly EVERY other mmo there is and say yes this game is the best then you can run around yelling WoW is the best!!! all you want but untill that day no game is the best for everyone .

The reason why so many people hate WoW is since WoW came out there has been many games that tried to do the same thing and that's not what they wanted. They could go back to the games Pre WoW but the thing is they are already burnt out on those games. So with very few games are coming out that interest them and I feel their pain. While I don't hate WoW I just wish it never existed simply because it changed the genre in the wrong direction IMO.
I don't hate anyone that plays WoW either cuz that would be hypocritical because I subbed to it of and on for 12 months. There are just so many things that WoW made popular that I don't like. Like sparkles over quest items, quest hubs with ? over top of quest givers, instanced PvP, and OMG the endless gear grind. I felt like once I got a sweet drop in a dungeon the next few days after I gained a few levels my stuff was already obsolete. I understand that every MMO is basically a gear grind but it felt worse in WoW. Maybe because im used for it taking forever to level up and being on the same level for days and only getting new gear maybe once a week or so.
Also to much soloing going on in the game for me. Sorry im a Ex FFXI EQ player and I like to group a ton. WoW just seemed like a solofest then you grouped up for a dungeon did a speed run then everyone went their way. Most of the time you never even needed a group to do anything.
WoW was an amazing game for 10mill+ obviously but it just left some of us different kind of gamers in the dusts with no games to play basically, which quite frankly sucks ass. But hopefully there will be a few decent gamers that are for games like me, I really havent had a game I can call home in a long ass time and has kept me interested for a long period of time like FFXI did.

Yes considering WOW is the only MMO in existence i guess i will not have anything to play. Just gets better and better. Maybe you should go out into the world and have a real drink and clear your head a bit.
It's so easy to level in Wow ... The only alterative left is to be level "1" tier through level "6" at level 80...why play the game anymore...u need others to to get the better gear. I myself am a loner. Wow doesn't embrase loners...
you stress tired graphics but there isn't really a game out besides AoC that has up to date graphics. You complain about the community when it isn't any worse than any other games. More people= more assholes per server because of the larger population. Its not hard to disable trade chat and never worry about the pricks in the game. You can say whatever you like it won't hide the fact that you are for the most part wrong.

The only difference is that the last 5 years have been dominated by one game. The reasons are plentiful, but the biggest reason is that the game was designed to be fun. It is the question the developers asked themselves over and over while creating the game. Then it was not released until they felt it was ready.
That is something almost unheard of on the market and the results are obvious.
However I am sure you will resort to calling millions of people immature or blame the success on advertising, youthful audience or some other wishful thinking on your part.
The game is very solid even if you don't enjoy it. You, and by that I mean you, cannot put up a well thought out post showing how the game isn't one of the best crafted products on the market, because it is. All you have is a bag full insults without any real substance.

Its good that you and Zorn are always here to remind everyone how good the game is, i mean it must be because everyone plays it.
It is a good game in some aspects. The community is strong due to the number of players and the gameplay is there. The graphics are a bit out-dated....which allows the game to be played on most computers. There are the drawbacks as well. But, what game has all good points and no bad points ???
There is a lot of area that can be covered by quality, but you hit some of them.
As for guild wars being a better game I wouldn't argue that aside from personal preferences. It is a very well made game that great design and polished. It does some things better than wow, but at the same time it lacks or doesn't do things better than wow. Both great games, but also both pretty different games. Apples and oranges if you will. Both delicious fruit, but very different from each other.
