kind of hard to argue with someone that doesn't post about anything I was talking about? Aion is just a place for WoW addicts and burn outs to go...how can I argue with that when I agree? I lol'd at the 'get out' coming from a 30yr old in their mums basement arguing with a teen and getting one-upped :P
The only thing you've done here is make a fool of yourself, attacking me for no reason other than the fact that I don't care about FFXIV. Yeah, you sure showed me by having a childish tantrum over a difference of opinion.
So you agree with me on Aion; lovely. Now would you care to respond to the video I linked, or anything else I said about the new Final Fantasy MMORPG? No? Ok. Get out.
Back on topic, Naxxramas... there's another thing nagging at me. I always wanted to see the instance, but I never got a chance to see it in full during Vanilla WoW. Due to my distaste for this game's Arena mode, if I did bother to come back I'd mostly be doing raids and casual pvp.
Well I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that something is gonna be good sooner or later. I mean surely there has to be "something" lol
As long as you don't hold your breath, you'll be fine.
For me ive just cancel my sub, and will be trying out Aion.
But i will definitely come back for Cata, but not when it launch. Will like to come back to see how the new lands pans out, and reroll the new 2 races. Haven't been able to find a race that i like to be DK, but now with worgen, i will definitely roll one...
Also like to see how's Blizz way to charc progression without levels turns out. Right now i'm very turn off by Northend, hopefully this new way of progression will interest me and i can bring my other toons pass 70...
I admit that I'm intrigued but the changes announced in the new expansion. So I'll probably going to check the expansion when it's out. On the other hand, the annoyances that drove me away from the game did not diminish with the announcement, thus I see no reason to resubscribe to the game at this point.
In fact, I'm a bit concerned that the expansion announcement might hurt the current subscriptions, once the enthusiasm dies off and people will realise that they will have to wait for a year for the big events to occur. It certainly stole much of Arthas thunder from the current expansion.
I think we had that discussion again. This is an open forum, I'll be posting my opinion (in a civil manner of course), whether you like it or not. The site features a block button, if my opinion is so annoying to read.
I've never disputed WoW's popularity, in fact I'm glad that it's popular. I'm not talking about that. I'm also certain that a good deal of people resubscribed after hearing the announcement, it's only natural. Well, until they realise that the fresh news won't be available for quite some time. It reminds me of me resubscribing to Anarchy Online for a month when I heard about the upcoming graphics engine revamp (still not implemented btw). So I guess I'm not invulnerable to impulse resubscriptions myself. But I won't resubscribe just to check on my old server population, that's a bad reason to initiate a subscription.
What I was talking about, and you failed to understand, being so defensive and all, was the effect that expansions have in general for the current content available. I remember clearly the months that I put extra effort into motivating my friends to keep on raiding, in the months that preluded the launch of the new expansions (both of them). Due to those efforts we remain active, while other guilds crumbled around us with their members lacking the desire to log.
Bottom line, while I anticipate with renewed interest the next expansion, I hope the announcement does not put the current content in an "on hold" status. Which is pretty much what I said, before I was unnecessarily attacked. I hope my clarification post clears things up a bit.
Personally i agree with what Xasapis have said. Right now alot of players really looking forward to the new contents that's going to be dish out by Cata, still hype about the news. But the problem is the release date.
If its really one year or more down the road, some players will start to get tired of waiting.
Its just a feeling regarding humans, knowing that a better thing is out there, there's no point in doing anything now for the current content. Unless you truly enjoy raiding and pvp in end-game.
I can still remember the outcry on the official forum when BC news is release, those players QQ about their hard earn gear being gone even though there's still quite some time before its release.
In the end, no doubt the current patch offer alot of new things for players, like leveling in pvp, but for some players it will get old fast.
I guess its difficult to find a appropriate time to announce a x-pac. Too early and players desire will run out, too soon and there's no point in releasing Arthas...
So what Xasapis point out is just from another point of view...
What ever game is released out there, no one will have more content than wow .
To explain alittle further, wow came 5 years ago, they had a smashhit when it came, they have had 5 years to do the content they have now . and over 11 milion subscribers.
For a new game on the market , it has to be a smash hit and it has to gain 5 years on its neck to compete with wow, this is regardless if wow is fun or not , time and experience is already there at Blizzard.
Ive seen som post here at mmorpg.com , that was about "is this the new wow killer?" even if a new game would have taken half of wow's subscribers , wow will still be the biggest, you see where im going.
A guy in this forum, talked about pvp content, in wich other game do you find more pvp content than in wow ?, you have out door world pvp and you have a ton of content pvp in arenas and such, and tell me any other game that has more than this ?.
Wow has also the most instances in a game like no other game.
Other games may make a better game and or with more content over the next 10 year, but no other game will be bigger at this point.
i have been an off and on wow player myself, loving it at times and hating it at others. im currently not playing, and when i heard the news of the new expansion i was almost sucked in to playing again. the hype of something new will often to that, but i think you will find like i will, that going back will probably give u a bit of temporary satisfaction, but the reasons that you left in the first place will rear its ugly head and make you feel like you wasted your money
I see this more as a longevity expansion than a content expansion. Sure, they're redoing Azeroth, but really all its going to be is a paint job and different quests. Archaeology is going to be a serious pain if handled like a gathering profession, so that and Path of the Titans seems like added grind to me. It's nice that there are only 5 new levels, but its lame that it will likely take longer than 70-80 did.
All and all, its a load of fluffy content. Just more grind and a couple of races. Not to mention the itemization changes, this is like the 5th time they've done this. It's turning more and more into a cookie cutter clone game, and thats saying a lot, because at its core the game is all about being the same. This time instead of adding depth to the stat system, they're dumbing it down some more so house wives can have a better understanding of them. Pretty soon everyone will be using the same stats and items, everyone will be the same class, and there will be only one button to press. The "auto" button.
Yeah I said I woud never touch WoW again, but after seeing Cataclysm, I might just have to pick it up again once my wasted 30 days on Mortal Online and Aion expire. Not too thrilled with either of those games betas. And as much as I realize they're betas, the gameplay won't change much. Just the graphics. Which has me really worried for these once highly anticipated games.
ya same here i betaed aion.i cant put my finger on the problem but i know what thing when i played aion till level 10 i was like oh men what am i doing here
i was down ! then i log here whine about the fact that only rune of magic sound like agood idea to play for a year
then this guy post here"HAVE YOU TRIED EQ2 LATELLY"
i reply "CANT"fucking bugged bot the thing in 07 and i logged max 10 hour and fiddled with setting for about 8 lol
he reply they fixed it should work now .he say trial it you ll see if its for you
that was last sunday after aving seen cataclysm ,you can bet i was ready for gaming lol
i had to read a bit to adjust my computer then the game but now its all done men i love tis game
was tired of kiddy style mmo ,not bad but just tired
eq2 isnt for everybody ,thats true but its my kind of mmo rp/pvp etc

Some day, I'd like to play an sandbox MMORPG that doesn't have the game play of Microsoft Excel.
Well, I'm not sure how to advise you. You seem oriented towards PvP, with your choices in arena, TF2, and so on. The PvP in WoW has been enhanced with a couple more BG's and Wintergrasp. You can also joust with other players at the Argent Tournament. Is that worth subscribing for? Well, maybe for a month. But a month worth of fun is still worth resubbing for.
As for raiding, I think it really depends on the person. While there are a lot of people who run dungeons, play BG's, do arenas, and raid for gear upgrades only, there are some people out there who have wisened up, and decided to do what makes them happy. Some of these people, for example, like to group up with others and run dungeons, whether that be 5 mans, 10 mans, or 25 mans. I'm one of those people. Chasing gear is something that came out with WoW. My MMO days started a few years before WoW, so I learned how to play a MMO to have fun, rather than to play it for the carrot on the stick. My first MMO was DAoC.
While DAoC was a great game, and probably my favorite for a while, there's no denying that WoW is king. WoW is a great game for me, because it offers every type of player something to do all in one package. I've tried all the new releases, and they are okay at some things, but bad at most everything else. While WoW is the same old thing, it's still does that same old thing better and if you're in the mood for that thing, well resubscribe. Otherwise, I'd just wait until CAT comes out, reroll a new character, and level through the new stuff. In the end, it'll still be the same old game, but at least you'll get a few months of fun out of it. I find WoTLK dungeons to be fun, so I do them. Hope this helped.
Wrath to me seemed like it was unfinished. There is little variety in the armor graphics. I know Blizz wanted to address people's complaints about looking like a fruit salad with BC gear. However, when you get an 80 epic helm from a raid and it looks EXACTLY like the blue 58 helm DK's get in their starter area something is wrong. When my DK would switch out his dps gear for tanking gear, if you were looking at him you wouldn't see a visual difference. That is just plain lazy on their part.
Wrath's 1st patch took about 5 months and did nothing for you if you were level 1-76. You got limited benefit if you were 77-79 by just getting a few more dailies to do. Mostly it was made for 80's. Same thing with patch 3.2, if you're not 80 it didn't help you. Plus despite the name of the xpac being "wrath of the LICH KING", he still isn't actually in the game yet except for some cameos where he blusters then walks away.
Wintergrasp was a good idea badly implimented. Sorry Blizz but after playing through siege pvp in Dark Age of Camelot, WG just fails on so many levels. Badly designed zone, combined with horrid lag when you get 200+ people zerging the keep does not equal a fun pvp experience.
As for Cataclysm....
Since the changes to Azeroth everyone gets, what exactly am I getting for my dollars? Two new races, no new classes, five more levels to grind and (at least) two more raid zones. That's it? On an interview with G4, a blizzard rep actually said that players have been asking to play goblins. Really? What players? I've never read a thread here or on offical forums demanding goblins be playable. This is blizz being lazy again. Goblin animations are already ingame, all they have to do is add a few facial models and DONE. Same with worgen, both human and worg animations are already ingame, just have make a few tweaks and BEHOLD a "new" race!
By the time the xpac releases, WoW will be over 5 years old (possibly 6). In that time WoW would have added 1 new class and 4 races. Compare that to ANY other MMO that's been around for 5+ years and you will see that Blizz is severly lacking in the "new" content department. Redoing The Barrens does not make it "new" content Blizz no matter how you try to spin it.

Im no WoW diehard but this is just oozing bias and negative slant here. Adding classes screws with the balance, and I'd rather they not have a massive variety. Making light of redoing the entire game is also a bit strange, not to mention that the goblin are being tweaked, and the worgen models are completely remade.
Cliff Notes (Retard edition) Cataclysm hype makes me feel like giving the game another shot Left game in TBC because of crappy arena and blizzard thinking New Gear = new content, also; lack of new pvp content Two part question, one part self serving : Has this happened to anyone else? - Should I even bother at this point?
its all a moot point. SWTOR will be out near the same time as cataclysm. People like myself are just dying for a reason to quit WoW. WAR and AoC failed in this.
I'm not sure about bias, but my post was rather negative. I tried to be specific about my concerns, not just spewing a "blizz sux" post. I wasn't blindly singing the praises of Blizzard like so many do. Sure at Blizzcon people cheered, but then again people who GO to Blizzcon are diehard fans. There are a lot of gamers where I work and when Cataclysm was announced not one of them got excited over it. They all said the same thing I did in my above post, it seems like Blizz is getting lazy and is just recycling content. Yes, that's "negative" since I'm not lauding the positives of the xpac. My opinion is that the "cons" outweight the "pros" by a majority.
Not to mention that there are so many lore-errors with Cataclysm they could be an entire post on their own. Blizz isn't even bothering to retcon anymore, they're just doing whatever they want and the lore be damned. What, I feel, Blizzard doesn't understand is that it was their storytelling that made people love their games. Diablo 2 wasn't that great a game really, get a few certain skills and just click away. However, the story of Diablo 2 (complete with cutscenes/voiceovers) is what set it apart.
As far as AoC goes, it couldn't live up to the massive hype surrounding it which was not Funcom's fault. That game today is far better than it was a year ago as FC has added more content, bug fixes and tweaks to improve the gameplay. Really though is that any different than any other MMO? Game releases, they patch, etc. The life of an online game.
Umm in your version of Aion, you can't use melee skill while moving? Must be a different version that the OP played than the rest of the world. Most are designed to work while moving and some are not, usually while executing melee AoE you need to stay in one spot, since you are spinning.
The OP fall into the trap of "been there, done that". No one cant teach people to think beyond the surface, so I have nothing further to say. Next time get facts straight though.

only guild wars was ever his direct competition and not too shaby for a newby comming out of shadow

Already resubbed just after the news.
its all a moot point. SWTOR will be out near the same time as cataclysm. People like myself are just dying for a reason to quit WoW. WAR and AoC failed in this.
To LogothX....
Meet the man who is hyping Aion unhampered for the past 3 months in these WOW forums in person.
It is these kind of people who trash talk about WOW communities.
Fat chance.
you know this because you spend more time in these forums searching out wow haters than actually playing wow
having said that i dont think ronans right to resort to personal insults .
